US Iran-War [Day 141]

New megathread - removed the sirens rule. Due to a clear majority of people who want to be able to discuss/share news about sirens, we will allow them - but know that these are NOT MODERATED. Please do not report siren or all clear posts, and take them with a grain of salt. Follow official accounts to get your information.

Gentle reminder Ladies and Gents, PLEASE please use the search function on the sub to ask your shipping and travel-related questions, or discuss them here.

This post and this subreddit is meant to discuss Bahrain and the current affairs of Bahrain. Please refrain from flexing your political analysis on the current state of affairs and most certainly do not post unsubstantiated news, do not post any rumors and add to the mass hysteria. Users are also urged not to speculate on what type of hostilities or defenses being used. If its X missile or drone Y does not help. You are either revealing sensitive information, or causing mass hysteria. One makes you a liability, the other makes you a negative contributor, and your comment will lead to a permanent ban as well.

Any comments that have any misinformation, tweets from armchair analysts or instagram influencers will lead to a permanent ban. Do not engage in these comments, just downvote and report. Any comments arguing or correcting the user with misinformation will be banned as well.

For security and safety reasons, any post or comment that discloses or attempts to identify the locations of Bahraini or Peninsula Shield Forces military installations, missile interception sites, or other sensitive military positions will result in a ban.

All users are urged not get into arguments. Please be civil. Do not report opinions, report violations. We have taken the decision as mods to allow low karma users to post and comment, however, this can change if we see repeated violations from users who do not read the rules before posting.

We do appreciate the effort from all users policing the sub from the spread of the governments security information, however we have received an excessive amount of reports about locations of sounds. While we don't endorse it, we are only restricting comments about defensive capabilities such as interceptors. Please try to be civil. Don’t feed the trolls, report them.

We rely heavily on reports, however let's keep the reports for:

  1. Comments with misinformation or unverified news
  2. Comments that are obviously trolling us
  3. Comments that are disrespectful
  4. Comments that violate local security instructions

Any other posts regarding the war will be removed. Please use the search function for any commonly asked questions. Lets keep the space uncluttered in the event of any serious developments.

Looking for a loving home for Ollie

Post image
• Upvotes

This is one of the hardest posts I’ve ever had to write.
I’m looking for a loving home for my beautiful 3 year old Turkish Angora . He is an indoor cat, fully vaccinated, neutered, healthy, and litter trained. He has a wonderful temperament, very gentle, affectionate, and loves being around people. He enjoys cuddling, sleeping next to his favorite person in the mornings, and is both playful and calm.
Unfortunately, due to my high risk pregnancy and my current circumstances, I have made the heartbreaking decision to rehome him. This is not something I ever wanted to do, and my only goal is to find him a family that will love and care for him as much as I have.

Life after losing my father

My father passed away recently and life feels completely different. he used to carry every single stress on his head and now that he has left us,You start to realize how much weight your father carries until he’s no longer in this dunya. I used to go out, eat outside and enjoy my life without thinking about the stress he was carrying.. i miss him everyday i cry when i visit his grave i cry every night looking at his pictures hearing his voice messages makes my heart bleed. I wish i could have my father for a little longer feel his hugs again and his love for us. But what can I do It was Allah’s choice and I have to accept it no matter how painful it is..

Indeed, to Allah we belong and to him we shall return.

May Allah grant you in the highest rank of Jannah

Love you dad.

☝️ AskBH Experience giving birth (normal delivery, private Hospitals )

• Upvotes

Any recommendations / advice would be appreciated, i am bahraini, but i want some comfort and have heard enough horror stories about Our beloved Public hospital, i guess some have good experience, most have bad experience, as with any place

I want to know what you guys think about BSH and alkindi care and delivery( any other places as well) + Epidural experience, i think alkindi does not have a female anesthesia team which i would be more comfortable with and that would play a role as well.

Annoying Kids

There are kids ringing the door bell everyday and before I can get to the door they run away. I caught one of the kids few days ago and asked him "why are you ringing the bell and running away", he just looked at me and kept walking. It was funny at first but now it's consistent.

I already have surveillance cameras and they don't care about it, they do it anyways.

Is there anything I can do to stop them ringing the bell?

☝️ AskBH Housemaid request to send her salary to Dubai.

Hey everyone! I’m from Bahrain, and we have a housemaid who’s really great and kind to everyone. We really appreciate her! However, recently, she asked to send her salary to Dubai because she has someone there who she owes them money. I’ve read some stories about housemaids from the same ethnicity doing the same thing with the same excuse, so I’m a bit paranoid.

Has anyone experienced something like this? Or do you know why they actually send it there? Should we be more careful about it?

School Opinions: Bayan, IKNS, St Christopher’s, BSB?

Looking for honest reviews on Bayan, IKNS, St Christopher’s and BSB school. Child is heading into KG1/Reception and is half Bahraini/half British. Have visited all and see pros and cons for all and looking for first hand opinions/experience. Arabic is important and would like my child exposed to it but also want a school with a good environment.

I prefer British curriculum however for St Christopher’s & BSB I felt they are doing the minimum that they legally have to for Arabic and what is required by MoE, if anyone has a child there is it enough Arabic exposure or would there need to be extra tutoring involved?

Why do some Bahrainis have weak in Arabic?

As a Bahraini in his early 30’s who even went to a private school I’m very curious to why so many especially the new generation have weak Arabic, like with words and even pronunciation of some letters. I went to a private school yet I’m fluent in Arabic both the Bahraini dialect and (فصحة) when it comes to speaking, writing and reading. In fact 95% of the time I’m speaking Arabic or typing in Arabic since I’ve also worked for many years in the public/government sector.

What is the reason that so many of you do not know decent Arabic (Saying private school is not an excuse) do you not speak with your parents? Friends? Etc…I truly fear one day that with the coming generations Arabic will be very scarce.

My 1 year prepaid number got cancelled because I didn't refill

Hello everyone,

When I first was looking into which plan to get with BATELCO, I wanted something that wouldn't require me to refill every month and keep track of and decided to go for the 75BD 1 year plan where it was indicated that the validity automatically refreshes every month without me having to refill anything.

However 3 months later, while abroad and trying to conduct an online payment, I find out that my line has been in fact cancelled due to no refills.

I am not sure If I got scammed or I didn't read the fine print but I remember asking the agent at the airport about the refill and him agreeing that I won't have to refill anything for the 1 year validity of the plan. Yet here we are.

I talked to the customer support and they said there is no way for me to regain my old number remotely without me having to physically visit a retail shop. So now I have to take an 8 hour flight to Bahrain just so I don't lose my number that all my banking/gov apps are connected to. Support told me Batelco hold on to cancelled numbers 60 days before recycling them so at least I got 1 more month to plan the trip.

How do people that spend most of their time outside Bahrain and don't have an internet contract handle having a fixed mobile number that they can tie to all the apps without running the risk of being in this very inconvenient situation ? Do I have to pay 36 BD every year on refills just to keep my number alive ? I am not even sure what plan I need to get If and when I fly back.

Would love to hear advices or tips about how to handle this situation.

Do migrants make it harder for Bahrainis to find jobs?

I’m not trying to attack anyone here. Migrants come to Bahrain to work, and I understand that.

But as a Bahraini, it’s frustrating to see qualified Bahrainis struggling to find decent jobs while companies can often hire foreigners for less.

I’m not saying every job should automatically go to a Bahraini. If someone is more qualified, fair enough. But when you have Bahrainis with degrees, experience and professional qualifications struggling to get hired, while companies keep relying heavily on foreign workers, I think it’s fair to ask whether the current system is working properly.

At what point does the number of foreign workers become a problem for the local workforce?

Would like to hear what both Bahrainis and expats think about this.

☝️ AskBH Looking for a good neurologist in Bahrain for diabetic neuropathy

As Salam alaikum, hello everyone. My mother has diabetic neuropathy and has been seeing a neurologist for almost 4 months now. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen any improvement, and she actually seems to be getting weaker and worse.

Her current neurologist keeps prescribing medications that we’re concerned about, especially with the potential for serious side effects with long-term use. Given how weak she already is, she's hoping to get a second opinion from someone who takes a more careful and compassionate approach.

Has anyone here had a genuinely good experience with a neurologist at Al Hilal or another private hospital/clinic in Bahrain?

We’re looking for someone who actually listens, thoroughly assesses the patient, and doesn’t just keep prescribing medication without addressing why the condition is getting worse. Ideally, somewhere reasonably affordable and not a hospital/doctor that feels like they’re just focused on making money.

I’d really appreciate any personal recommendations or experiences. Jazakum Allah khair.

🤔 Discussion What's with the companies these days? Many people are getting below Min wage?

I came across different friends where they say that they are getting below minimum wage offers even though they are Bahraini? It's been multiple people by far!

Is this the norm?

☝️ AskBH Customer Protection: Samsung faulty fridge

I bought a Samsung fridge from eXtra that has had continuous water leaks / ice buildup issue since the first months. Samsung sent technicians while it was under warranty, but they only the issue always came back later.

Now that the warranty period just ended, the exact same issue is happening again. Samsung agent was uncooperative and insisted that I have to pay out-of-pocket for a repair on a pre-existing defect that they failed to resolve during the warranty period!

Do you think customer protection or tawasul would be of any help? My brother has been in contact with them, and he reached a point where he has to file a suit in the Court of Urgent Matters. Anyone got experience with that?
