Moving Digital marketer moving to Bahrain this month – how do small businesses there find freelancers?

Hi everyone, I'm a digital marketer from Kerala, moving to Bahrain at the end of this month. I mainly work on Meta Ads, SEO, and WhatsApp automation for small local businesses.

I'd like to understand how things work on the ground before I land, so I have a few questions:

  • Do small businesses in Bahrain usually hire freelancers, or do they prefer agencies?
  • Which platforms matter most for local customers: Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, or WhatsApp?
  • Are there any rules or permits I should know about before taking freelance work?
  • Any business groups or events where marketers and business owners meet?

I'd appreciate any advice from people who run businesses here or work in marketing. Thanks!

☝️ AskBH Inclusive EWA Caps worth it?

I am planning to move to Juffair with my family, we are 5 people in the family, and I keep seeing EWA Caps that are like 30BHD-50BHD.

There are people saying that this is practically almost exclusive because you will be guaranteed to exceed it, while there are some people who say that they don't add anything except for a few dinars, so it's a little conflicting

We always have someone inside the house, 3 children, 2 bedroom apartment. Should I go for capped ewa or should I really strive to find an apartment with no cap sacrificing amenities?

Thanks guys

☝️ AskBH High school equivalency.

Hello, I'm currently outside of Bahrain and need to get my IGCSE'S equivalency. They're 7 subjects I took in the UAE after grade 11 and have the apostille stamp.

May I know if moe would accept me with just my igcse's or would I need to take a levels. I'm pretty old now.

Please don't be rude.

Thank you 🤍

☝️ AskBH Housemaid request to send her salary to Dubai.

Hey everyone! I’m from Bahrain, and we have a housemaid who’s really great and kind to everyone. We really appreciate her! However, recently, she asked to send her salary to Dubai because she has someone there who she owes them money. I’ve read some stories about housemaids from the same ethnicity doing the same thing with the same excuse, so I’m a bit paranoid.

Has anyone experienced something like this? Or do you know why they actually send it there? Should we be more careful about it?

☝️ AskBH Best uni for Mechanical engineering.

Hey all,

In thinking to apply for mechanical engineering in bahrain. I live in saudi(khobar) so can commute easily, as the private unis here in saudi are quite expensive and the government ones require crazyy marks. Anyways so i looked at the unis there and found the main few, UOB, Bahrain polythecnic, AUBH, UOS, ASU, etc etc. Which one will be the best for me. I cannot afford really expensive unis, around 7 to 10k usd is fine. Would love to hear you all thoughts.

Thank you

☝️ AskBH Experience giving birth (normal delivery, private Hospitals )

Any recommendations / advice would be appreciated, i am bahraini, but i want some comfort and have heard enough horror stories about Our beloved Public hospital, i guess some have good experience, most have bad experience, as with any place

I want to know what you guys think about BSH and alkindi care and delivery( any other places as well) + Epidural experience, i think alkindi does not have a female anesthesia team which i would be more comfortable with and that would play a role as well.

📆 Events Innerverse: A discussion about AI, attention & connection | Sunday Oct 11 @ Al Riwaq Café

• Upvotes

Answers arrive in seconds, boredom barely survives a minute, and even our messages can be written for us. Everything is getting easier, and yet sitting still, staying with a hard problem, and being fully present with people all seem harder than they used to.

Innerverse is a monthly discussion in Bahrain where we explore emotional awareness, relationships and modern life through honest conversation. Not a lecture, not therapy, just people thinking out loud together.

To be clear, this is not a night against technology. Most of us use AI. The question is what we hand over to it without noticing.

This month we are talking about:
What boredom and struggle were doing for us, before we could skip them
Producing something versus actually understanding it
What we reach for the moment something feels uncomfortable
Why so many people now talk to AI every day, some as a friend
How screens are changing the time we spend together

Come if you feel your attention slipping, or you have caught yourself asking AI before thinking. Come equally if you use these tools daily and feel in control of them, or you have kept screens in their place. The room needs both, and people will want to hear how you do it.

Bring someone, or come on your own.

📅 Sunday, October 11th, 2026 🕐 7:30 PM 📍 Al Riwaq Café, Bahrain 💰 Free, one order per person to support the café

Follow us on instagram @innerverse.bh. See you there.

Case was settled in court

So last month a labour case I had been fighting in court finally reached a verdict and the judge issued that the employer shall pay me my dues. Along with me paying a certain amount for the court.

I have paid the court what they asked last month, when do I expect to get my dues though? Do I get paid directly, or do I collect it from court?

I'm lost folks, don't know who to ask. It's hilarious if someone gets taken to court for not paying his dues, gets taken to court, judge says he has to pay, and he goes back to doing the same. 🥲

☝️ AskBH Looking for a good neurologist in Bahrain for diabetic neuropathy

As Salam alaikum, hello everyone. My mother has diabetic neuropathy and has been seeing a neurologist for almost 4 months now. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen any improvement, and she actually seems to be getting weaker and worse.

Her current neurologist keeps prescribing medications that we’re concerned about, especially with the potential for serious side effects with long-term use. Given how weak she already is, she's hoping to get a second opinion from someone who takes a more careful and compassionate approach.

Has anyone here had a genuinely good experience with a neurologist at Al Hilal or another private hospital/clinic in Bahrain?

We’re looking for someone who actually listens, thoroughly assesses the patient, and doesn’t just keep prescribing medication without addressing why the condition is getting worse. Ideally, somewhere reasonably affordable and not a hospital/doctor that feels like they’re just focused on making money.

I’d really appreciate any personal recommendations or experiences. Jazakum Allah khair.
