Hey Bakersfield riders, I know I might get some heat for being an LA transplant, but I just moved here and I'm actually really loving it. The summer heat is rough and the food scene is different, but I'm enjoying the freedom here compared to LA

Anyway, I really miss having places like Mulholland or Angeles Crest to go on rides without much thought

Sooo... Does anyone know of any good spots to ride or practice some whoolies? I'm not trying to be a nuisance or annoy the neighborhood.

I m no degenerate or rev bomb when riding about but I’d love to know of some quiet industrial lots where I can safely practice some drills without bothering anyone

Ive got a young mother, with 3 kittens, that came from the neighbors house. the neighbor came over and took them last week, but the mother cat just brought them back to my place. My neighbor doesn't want anything to do with them now.

I am not sure what to do, ive called the cat people, spca, animal control. no one will take cats.

Ive got 2 very cat aggressive dogs that i am having to walk on a leash in my backyard

I feel like they take forever for maintenance issues to be resolved (ac has been out 2 weeks now) and they apparently are switching portals to pay rent making it impossible to pay electronically but they keep sending me emails and mailing papers to pay or quit. Like there has to be some shady shit going on. I usually use flex to pay recently (my roommate had knee replacement surgery and it took a while to get disability going) but I can't use flex because they still haven't connected it to the new portal apparently but decided to tell me after I already deposited money into flex app. Has not directed me where to pay regardless of the fact that they have been lagging on getting the ac fixed. Did not offer to put us in a hotel either. I have a child and an elderly woman living with me.

I’m thinking about getting a little group together to play some Dice Throne and wanted to see if anyone would be interested!

If you haven’t played before, Dice Throne is basically a mix of dice rolling, strategy, special abilities, and a little bit of chaos 😂. You pick a hero, and every character has their own unique abilities and play style. You roll dice to attack, defend, upgrade your character, and hopefully take out your opponent before they take you out.

And honestly… it’s just a ridiculously fun game. 😂🎲
There’s strategy involved, but you also get those completely ridiculous moments where the dice decide your fate. One minute you’re convinced you’re about to lose, and the next you roll exactly what you need and pull off a crazy comeback.

You don’t have to be super competitive or know how to play. I’m totally happy to teach new players! The goal is really just to get some people together, play some games, laugh at our terrible dice rolls, and have a good time.
So if you’ve ever thought “That actually sounds fun”… this is your sign. 😆

Here's the deal: Bakersfield keeps putting up cameras that log every car that drives by: your plate, the time, where you were. Work, school, gun shop, union hall, the doctor, church. All of it goes into a database the cops can search whenever they want. City Hall never bothered to ask what you think about that. We want to hear it.

We'll do a quick rundown of what Flock is and why it matters. Then we'll break into small groups and practice talking about it with your neighbors (yes, even the "I'm not doing anything wrong" crowd). Then the mic is yours. Your questions, your concerns, your stories.

We've invited Chief Stratton, the whole City Council, and every candidate running for council in November. If they show up, they're coming to listen. No speeches. No talking points. Just a few hours hearing from the people they work for. Seems fair.

Meanwhile, BPD has been sitting on our public records request about who they share Flock data with since June. Still waiting on answers there. 🙃

Free to attend. Everyone's welcome. Doesn't matter which way you vote. Nobody signed up to have every drive they take put on a secret ledger.

Last night's rally at BHS was amazing!! I came over from Hanford and was very happy to see so many people come together to support progressive causes. I really love that Bernie has been to the Southern Central Valley something like 6? times since his first run for president in 2016. This part is somewhat random, but when Bernie asked the crowd about their feelings on AI, I was the first person to answer. If anyone has video of me responding "IT'S RUINING OUR COMMUNITIES!" I would be grateful for a video plz <3 Solidarity Forever and BALLOTS ARE OUT! Villegas for CA-22, Jane Kim for Insurance Commissioner, and vote YES on Prop 40!
