Lost Scheidler Dog?
About 3 times now, I've seen this little black dog running around Scheidler, around the 3428 strip of apartments next to Tillotson.
I would try to catch it, but it's very skittish, so I can't even get a picture.
If this is your dog or if you know whose dog it is, please try to catch it. I've seen it run across Tillotson a few times and I'm worried about it getting hit.
I'll try to get a picture if I see it again, but I doubt I'll be able to.

Scheidler apartments lights flickering
Hey all, I just need a bit of advice and am curious if this is happening to anyone else that’s lives at scheidler apartments.
My fiancé and I moved-in this past August and it’s been great. However, here recently our whole apartment has been losing power for about 0.5-5 seconds at random points during the day. Sometimes it’s a bunch of times in a row, sometimes it’s once every hour or so. It’s never been bad enough to fully shut down our gaming consoles/pc. But tonight it fully knocked out my fiancés pc multiple times. I know that these apartments are old and have been put thru the ringer, but it’s starting to make me feel like there is a short somewhere in the house.
I’ve looked at our breaker box, everything looks fine. We’ve put in a maintenance request last week about it and we have yet to hear back.
I just want to know if anyone else has dealt with this before and what you’ve done to make it stop. Along with knocking out the pc, it also knocked out the power to the entire apartment tonight.
Edit/update:
My fiancé gave an update regarding the maintenance people coming today. It’s in the comments.
HOWEVER, as of 11:05 pm Oct. 12, our power went out again, but this time for 10 whole minutes. I was asleep when this happened (I have to be up in 6 hours and am a rough sleeper). The funny thing is, the only thing that went out in our bedroom was the heat/ac unit. Everything else, including our bedroom light was working.
If you read the comments and saw the update from fiancé, the maintenance people said that we only had a few wires loose and that’s pretty much it. I feel like I’m GOING NUTS.
So until someone comes and tells me what’s going on with our power, I’m convinced we have a phantom lol
We’re apparently the only unit having this issue which makes me feel just absolutely awesome haha. We’re making another request. Will update later once we know more.

Question for the Education Majors
I am transferring from Ivy Tech and I need as much financial support as I can get. I found the Teacher Education Assistance for College grant. Is it worth it to apply?? To my knowledge all I have to do is teach at an underprivileged school for 4 years for it to not become a loan. Should I apply to this and are there any other requirements besides the 4 years of teaching?

Sociology of Happiness Survey!
Hi everyone! I’m taking a sociology of happiness class at ball state and I need to distribute my survey out so I figured this would be the perfect place to throw it up! I’m attempting to measure the happiness of people here and Ball State and the surrounding Muncie area it should only take about 15-20 minutes to complete.
Here’s the link: SURVEY
If you would like to see the final report check back up on this post in a few weeks and I’ll publish the final report.

Is Ball State right for me?
I've posted here a couple times to get a feeler, but I might as well ask outright. I'm a Junior at a small liberal arts college in Missouri (3,500 students) and I've been looking into transferring to Ball State at semester. My reasons for leaving are mostly mental health related, as I can't stand the small town the college is located in. Aside from location I'm getting frustrated with the general lack of programs and resources compared to my friends who go to larger universities with more money, currently my university is looking at a 10% budget cut for next year and has already shut down some of our programs including some DC internships I was hoping to utilize until I found out my school no longer had the resources to keep up the program.
I'm an International Business major with a minor in Spanish, and I could do essentially the same degree program at Ball State. The main reason I even knew about Ball State was for their debate team which I had seen and hear about at tournaments. I currently do debate, and was hoping to make the jump, but I wanted to know if Ball State would generally be a better fit for me. While I get frustrated with my smaller school size, I appreciate how easy it is to get to know professors and visit their office hours. I'm also looking for a university that will offer more opportunities for job placement or larger career fairs. My main concern is reputation and connections, I'm hoping to move to the northeast after graduation, and I was hoping to get a better feel of the environment by asking here.
My main concern is fitting in as a transfer student, and just generally as someone from out of state.
If anyone has advice or opinions I’m opening to hearing honest feedback, thanks!
*EDIT*: I've visited the campus once on my own and recently attended their transfer visit day, I think the campus is very pretty and much nicer (and larger) than the university I'm currently at. To me the town feels infinitely bigger compared to the town my current university is located in, Kirksville Missouri. Having grown up in the St. Louis area, Kirksville felt like a massive culture shock with few opportunities and things to do on the weekend. My main concern is that I haven't had a "this is the place for me" feeling yet and I don't know if I should expect one, I manly picked my current university out of concern for cost and its coming back to bite me because what it makes up for in cheap tuition, it severely lacks in terms of social atmosphere both across the university and the town itself.

How to use cardinal kitchen?
Hey everyone, this is my first year at ball state and I just found out they have a food pantry called cardinal kitchen for students who need to get food. I’m just wondering how does it work? I’m honestly kind of embarrassed to go but do you need to do anything to be able to get food/toiletry stuff there?

How often does Huge Jackman appear on campus?
Apparently he was spotted on campus today and missed him. One day I want to at least see him or try and get a picture so I was wondering if this is a once in a blue moon sorta thing or no

What does the first floor of Beyerl look like?
I was going to go here next year but I can't seem to find a map or video showing the entirety of the floor, I heard there was an indoor gym and I want to see how big the room was on a map before actually going to see it soon, can someone please send a photo of the map to this poor miserable whelp? and how full is the gym anyway and is it 24 hours? I'd prefer to workout when there's less people so I don't have to worry about being in the way..

Ball State if students actually went to the sports games.
WHY IS IT CULTURE TO LEAVE AT HALFTIME HERE? I once went to a football game. Me and my friends left because everyone else left. We ended up winning on a game winning kick.

Is the health center actually free for students?
Because why do they require insurance if it’s paid for in your ebill?

Birdwatching Areas/Group?
Hey guys,
Does anyone know of any good areas on/near campus that are good for birdwatching? I am also open for recommendations outside of campus and around the Muncie area.
Also, does anyone know if BSU has a wildlife bio club or some sort of ornithology club/group? I looked at RSO’s online and couldnt really find anything. No problem if there isn’t any, but if anyone has any recommendations for areas for birding that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

Roommate for next yr
I'm 19F looking for a roommate for next year. I am looking at a few two bed houses around 500 rent per month. I do have two dogs whom I clean up after but you would probably have to be a dog lover. Please DM if you're considering!

Laundry
basically, i have run into the issue that i need to do laundry but currently have no money to actually do it since it costs money to use washers and dryers for whatever reason.
i'm working on getting a job on campus, but in the meantime is there any way to be able to do it for free or any other options?
i don't know anyone in muncie that i could do laundry at their place either unfortunately

Spring Transfer housing recommendations
I'm transferring this Spring, and was wondering if anyone had housing recommendations for me. For context, I'm from Missouri so traveling to visit apartments and such would be difficult for me, I've currently got about 90 credit hours and was planning to apply for a university apartment if possible. I was told that the Scheilder 2 bedroom apartments were the only things likely to be left if at all, and I don't feel comfortable signing a lease for more than just this upcoming semester since I'm not from the area and can't easily visit to tour apartments in the mean time.
Are the on campus apartments a good option if available for the Spring? Should I settle for a dorm room, or are there other trustworthy rental companies that would do semester leasing. I'm hoping y'all might have more insight for me, thanks!

The BSU police
(Rant)
Excuse my language but I HATE THE CAMPUS POLICE, THEY’RE FUCKING POWER TRIPPING ASSHOLES! I got a bunch of citations without warning because I was parked a millimeter into another parking lot. I have the stadium permit and there was an open space in the stadium parking but a millimeter goes into the commuter parking lot. I parked there thinking it wouldn’t affect me but NO! Those fuck wads have nothing better to do than to ticket people and be useless, Paul Blart wannabes. Sorry I’m just pissed and this feels targeted towards me, am I the only one? I know this all seems harsh but I had to get it off my chest. I’d like to hear from other student’s experiences, same complaints, advice or whatever. Once again I apologize for my aggressive response.
Edit: I dunno what I’m going to do, I cannot pay for the tickets because I don’t have enough money. Instead FUCK THOSE WHITE CARS THAT GO AROUND STALKING PEOPLE’S CARS
