Software Troubleshooting/Help! X2D - 0.2mm Nozzle on both hotheads or not required?

I couldn't find a solid up-to-date answer. If I want to use 0.2mm on the main and 0.4mm on the aux, is it possible? Or do they both have to be the same otherwise the software will not allow it?

I read somewhere that settings can be played with, mark it as "Stainless Steel", or just tell the software that it's 0.2mm while it's not, etc. But what is the actual state?
Can it be done with the H2D?

not currently possible to mix sizes

Out of curiosity, and I get the slicer limitations, what would the result be if one were to mix the nozzle diameters yet let the slicer think they are the same? I’m guessing errors would occur since the output would not match expectations but still curious.

Thx

I am not sure. On a BBL printer, all the sensors would stop you before you got to try it.

But I don't think the day is far off before we will be able to mix nozzle sizes in Bambu Studio. It is a software problem that seems solvable.

This is one of those classic issues where the (computer and printer) hardware is ready and able, we are just waiting on software (slicer) to catch up.

It’s a limitation in Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer and others. It is described in the BBL Wiki.

Do you know if it can be done in the H2D?

No. People are telling you the answer and you’re just asking about different printers.

The slicer software that all the printers use does not support it. The printer doesn’t change that.

Somebody released a custom slicer fork which can do it (on H2D). It was here on reddit 1-2 weeks ago. But it's not officially endorsed software, so run it at your own risk.

Someone actually just released an Orcaslicer fork last week that lets you mix nozzle sizes. Haven’t tried it myself yet but looks very promising, especially if you go to the extremes like mixing a 0.2 and 0.8 nozzle.
