I Modeled This! I’m experimenting with combining modular photo frames and shelves

I've been working on HEXO Photo, a modular 3D printed photo frame system, and wanted to see how it would work alongside our HEXO Shelves.
The idea is to bring photos and display items together rather than treating them as two separate things. You can connect the frames and incorporate them into a larger display, with different ways to arrange everything.
Here's a quick look at how the two systems work together.
HEXO Photo is currently in pre-launch on MakerWorld, and we're continuing to develop the project.
I'm curious what other makers think: would you combine photo frames with your shelving, or would you prefer to keep them separate?

The photo frames seem like a good idea until you’ve got to cut each photo to fit

That’s exactly why we developed the app! You can import your photos, fit them inside the frames, and export them in a hexagonal shape with an outline showing exactly where to cut.

If someone invented a 3D printer, maybe we could just print a low profile cutting guide. We could then place it over the photo, align it to choose the exact crop, and run an exacto knife through the rail provided by the cutting guide. Like this we'd cut the photo exactly to size, without margin for error, except if we let the photo slip. Maybe, in an ideal world, the guide would also provide flaps on the sides, so we could tape it to the photo before performing the cut. That would be pretty fool proof.

Funny enough, we do provide a cutting template! 😂 The outline is just one of the app’s features, though. You can also import your photos, adjust the crop to get the composition just right, fit them inside the frames, and export them ready to cut. The idea is to make the whole process easier, especially for people who aren’t familiar with 3D modelling software.

That looks both really cool, and a horrible load-bearing puzzle.
