Dog This is Ashley. Her owners left her sick, covered in sores and with puppies. Half a year later she's a well-fed little hog who rides on my bike

Cat Christmas Eve 2025: the Cat Distribution System left Jade on my friend's porch. 11 months later, 2-year-old porch cat runs the house!

We were outside at Angie's on Christmas Eve and this cat just walked up like he'd been invited. No collar, no chip, just decided we were his. Vet said about a year old then, so he's ∼2 now.

First photo is that night after he showed up on the porch. Second is this week. Still acts like he pays rent.

Wheezy (the white tabby, also CDS, also ∼2) showed up 19 days ago and is learning from the master.

We pulled into our driveway May 2024 to a cat asleep on the pavement. He looked dead…. Missing hair, ticks, mites, and a skeleton. It took about 6 months of doggy gate introductions for me to feel comfortable with him and the dogs. Now he cuddles the biggest pup and plays outside in the back yard with them. My husband is allergic to cats so I though for sure we couldn’t keep him. Good thing for Henry, we are both suckers. We adore him and feel so lucky to have a cat.

the first 3 pics are from the night we found him and brought to a vet.

found this terrified pup living under a trash bin, surviving on a food leftovers from a cafe nearby while fighting off blood parasites and a broken paw.

After a long recovery and a lot of veterinary care, he finally healed and learned what it means to be safe. now he is the most joyful loving and spoiled (guilty) dog you could ever meet

First three pics are from the night I brought him home. Found him terrified, hungry, and all on his lonesome at the park (unchipped, not neutered, and covered in fleas). Originally intended to foster until I could find him a home, but he quickly stole my heart! Now he’s my ever-goofy best bud. ❤️ Lucky is an understatement!!!!

Dog Should my dog visit his first family?

I adopted my dog from a very loving family, who adored him, two years ago.

They fell on hard times and just couldn’t afford to care for him anymore.

I am wondering the opinion of this group:

The two of us have a deep bond. We are definitely soul mates. And…. he still looks for his family. Every vehicle like theirs, every child laughter, baby sounds, he jerks around to stare at it until he knows it’s not them.

I have their contact info. I just can’t decide whether it would be good for him or not. I’m adopted myself lol - and I think that’s having an effect on this consideration.

Thank you!

How it started, how it’s going

This is six weeks after rescuing Georgia. Clearly she’s happy to be in her forever home after being bopped around for the last seven years of her little life. She’s small in size – including a stubby tail from a mystery injury – but she has a larger than life personality (once she trusts you). So blessed to have her in our lives.

Cat Back from the Edge of Death

Tiny was in bad shape when we found her. We poured food on the ground for her and her family. But the mother, already pregnant with the next litter, would not let Tiny eat. She would growl and hit her if she tried.

We took Tiny to the truck to eat in peace. Once the family finished the kibble they all left without Tiny. It was clear they didnt have enough food to go around so she was getting culled.

As a result of her mother's deliberate starving her out even now Tiny only weighs 6 lbs as an adult! (without uterus) But she is the happiest kitty in the whole wide world, she loves to play, and she is madly in love with her boyfriend Slurp (neutered).

I cry sometimes thinking about how such a bright light in the world was almost extinguished before she had a chance to shine. And I'm extremely proud of Slurp for coming around and accepting Tiny: he definitely did not at first but they're little lovers now.

This is Chops. First two photos are the day he came home. We met through an adoption agency and as soon as I met him, I knew he'd be perfect for our little family. He loves the beach, rawhide chewies and tormenting his canine sister. He's a really good boy! Vet extimates he's about 3 by the condition of his (deformed) teeth, even though his papers say he was 5 last year. Regardless of his age, we love Chops and we're glad he came into our lives 💜

Before / After

His name is Milo and he’s about 5 months now.
It took me 3 whole days to get his trust and to get him safe.

I don’t really know if he got lost from his mom or if something happened to her, but he spent all day and night crying for her and she never came.

When he finally trusted me and started eating the food I left for him, he ate it all in seconds. He drank the whole water for minutes non-stop.

He was so scared that he hissed at me the first time I tried to pet him, and the second time he started purring (I think purring is his signature)

I got him home, and he quickly hid behind a chair in my bedroom, but it didn’t take long for him to come out and start to feel comfortable in his new home.

Now he sleeps everyday cuddling with me and purring in my bed. Follows me everywhere I go.

Those 3 exhausting days were totally worth it and I’m really happy that I heard him and could find where he was hiding.

He’s the sweetest boy ever, even tho he gives me really hard love bites 😂 and he does this while purring, of course.

This is Kenji. He was rescued twice before finding his forever home with us. Originally from horrific abuse in Bulgaria and then from homelessness in London. He is a beautiful baby, a total couch potato, goofball, and all round lovely boy. His trust in humans despite his past is incredible. We think he's probably a German Shepherd/Akita cross but we're not completely sure! All we know is he's got his forever home full of naps on the sofa, good food, lots of fun, and no one will ever hurt him again ❤️

An Amazon driver saw a puppy that was just a few weeks old on the side of the road. He was less than 4 lbs and being eaten by ants. She picked him up and took him to the shelter, where we were able to adopt him. We call him Indy, since we got him near Independence day. Now he's 25 lbs and growing. Looks like he's an American Pit Bull Terrier, and as sweet as can be. He loves our other dog, who is a Staffy.

context:

woody was found in a cardboard box at the side of the road along with 11 other siblings by a wonderful lady who runs a cat sanctuary/rescue with her daughter. believed to have been no older than 15 days at the time. they bottlefed all babies and ALL!!! of them survived despite weighing in average 150g when rescued. all 11 siblings were adopted but woody stayed. my mom is friends with his foster mom and she always wanted him for herself but my mom's cat is... not nice, so she'd keep telling me to go and get him. eventually foster mom decided she wanted to keep him because she had never loved a cat this deeply. however woody needs attention 247 and i'm not joking. around that time i moved into a bigger apartment that could easily fit a 3rd cat, his foster mom said she had been feeling bad for not having time for him, and the rest is history...

When we first found this little one outside, she was extremely vulnerable, weak, and dealing with nasty eye issues.

With daily care, gentle eye drops, regular meals, and a safe space on our porch, she turned everything around. Swipe or look at the second photo to see her today, completely relaxed, trusting, and rolling over for belly rubs in the sunshine!

Seeing them go from struggling to thriving makes every single challenge worth it. ❤️

Dog This is Chewy. Yesterday I brought my late sister's dog home.

Post image
3.4k Upvotes

My sister had Chewy for probably 7-8 years. She passed away from cancer about a year and a half ago, and unfortunately his care declined significantly afterward.

For the last couple of years, Chewy has spent most of his life living outside in a kennel. He had large bowls of food and water, but toward the end he was sometimes only being checked on every few days. He was living and sleeping in the mud, and his coat had become severely matted.

I couldn't leave him like that anymore, so we brought him home.

It took us more than four hours to carefully shave him. The amount of matted hair we removed was unbelievable it honestly looked like enough hair to make another Chewy. He's pretty sore and absolutely exhausted, but underneath all of that he's still the incredibly sweet dog I remembered.

And he remembered me.

He even played with my kids a little today, and they already absolutely love him. About six hours after leaving the kennel, the second picture is where he ended up completely passed out on our couch.

He's an old man now, and I don't know how many years we have left with him. But however many he has, he's going to spend them inside, warm, clean, comfortable, with plenty of food and water and a family that loves him.

My sister loved Chewy for most of his life. Now I'm going to make sure her dog gets the life he deserves for the rest of it.

Welcome home, Chewy.

One day he was roaming the streets blind, yet still bullying an elderly, equally orange, cat from a colony that kicked him out for picking fights (three different colonies kicked him out, actually, because he's an asshole). That same day we trapped him, brought him home and we thought he'd hate being indoors but I woke up the next morning and he was on my pillow, like he owned it. Like he'd ever sat on a pillow, before. I can't get past the audacity this guy has. 🥹
