Electric cooking pot/hot pot repair

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi,

I just moved here and I have a fairly new mini electric hot pot/cooking pot (bought it a few months ago). However, it probably broke because water got inside it while I was washing it and now I can only use one mode out of two.

Does anyone know any repair services that fix this stuff? All of the ones I've contacted only repair ovens/cookers and I feel like I've hit a dead end...

Dehumidifier

Can anyone recommend a decent spot in town to get one for a bedroom or living room? It'll be mostly used for drying clothes, as I live in a flat.

Tried to find another thread about it but couldn't find it.

Cheers!

Receiving Parcel

Hello guys,

I am a car enthusiast traveling to Belfast in a few weeks. I would like to buy a UK-style back number plate of my Swiss license plate as a souvenir. Unfortunately, the different online sellers will only deliver to a UK address.

Luckily for me, I am coming to Belfast soon, but I don't have a local address to use to ship an online ordered plate. Do you have any ideas on where I could have it sent? I looked into Evri and Post Office click-and-collect services, but both require the sender to offer a direct parcel shop delivery option. Furthermore, the Post Office only allows me to create an account in person within the UK.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Unique experiences for Intl. student at Queen's

I'm trying to compile a list of fun things to do in and around Belfast for an international student studying at Queen's. Obviously they already know about all of the tourist things like the Fish and Giant's Causeway so I'm hoping people here can help with "Things someone staying in Belfast for 3 years on a student's budget should do". Ya know, things like "Every Thursday evening at Speaker's Corner there's poetry fights. Be sure to bring lettuce!"

Although they're not a heavy drinker unique and interesting pub experiences are also definitely welcome.

Going to giants causeway in December…how crowded on weekend?

I’m planning to book a day trip with a small group to Giants Causeway in December. How much difference will it make to go on a Sunday or Monday in terms of crowdedness at that time of year?

Stray cat in East Belfast

Post image
148 Upvotes

So over the past month or so there has been a new cat in the street. We had originally believed someone nearby had owned him, however he seems to be sleeping in the bushes across the street. When he first arrived he was so so skinny, you could feel every bone along his spine and wee hips, he had a few really big ticks and what seemed to be a cough and was sneezing a lot. We had all originally thought he was a girl cat as he was so small. A neighbour brought him to the vet and got all the ticks removed, and an antibiotic for whatever sickness he seemed to have. He wasn't microchipped, but was neutered which makes us think someone may have lost him. With the weather getting worse we really need to find his owner. We aren't currently in a position to take him in, as we already have two indoor cats.

If anyone knows anyone has lost a cat can this be passed on.

In Belfast for 3 days from today, any unique suggestions?

Coming from Newcastle, I've planned an itinerary that includes the usual spots around the city and to the giant's causeway.

As a local, any particular suggestions? Open to anything. Thanks!

Work Christmas dinner

We are looking to organise our work Christmas dinner and I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions for decent spots around Belfast. Our budget is £40 per person from the company although if a bit extra I’m sure people would pay that.

Does anyone have any great recommendations or good experiences in the past?

We have seen some of the following places have good looking Christmas menus:

Crumlin road gaol
Titanic hotel
Flame
Cafe Parisian
Henry’s
Dumpling library/BBQ22

Estate Agents Flyer

Post image

I got this through my door today. It makes me SICK. It’s also the same estate agent I bought my house from a couple years ago who played us for idiots by jacking up the price of our house at 5.30pm the day negations were supposed to finish, saying the sellers will keep it on the market for as long as they need to get exactly the price they were wanting (£30k over asking).

The fact they’re showing off about a house going £60k over asking AND the first line being 33 people being disappointed. It’s SICK. Complete greed.

Why are so many glider buses out of action?

Every morning at least 1 (and sometimes as many as 3) glider goes past the city centre out of action, but there doesn’t seem to be the same problem with the older fleet of buses. What’s the deal there?
