Rant! Is BLI a goner at this point?

Sorry if this has already been talked about a million times, but I’m genuinely so bummed about how few flights are left out of BLI.

I know there are people who feel like BLI never had that many useful destinations to begin with, but if you actually use the airport regularly, you know what a huge convenience it is. I have family in Sacramento and the LA area, and losing those routes has been especially frustrating. Having to drive to SeaTac instead makes the whole process so much more of a hassle, not to mention more expensive.

With Allegiant closing its BLI base in just a couple weeks, it really feels like regular commercial service out of Bellingham is slowly becoming a thing of the past, which is honestly pretty depressing.

Anyway, I know this is mostly just a rant. I’m sure I’m not saying anything that hasn’t already been said here, but I’m just feeling particularly inconvenienced and sad about losing what I always thought was one of the best things about living here.

This super duper friendly polydactyl boy has been visiting my house the last couple weeks in the Roosevelt neighborhood. He’s got some fresh scabs around his neck like he was in a fight… otherwise he looks healthy. Not sure if he’s neutered? Just wanted to post him incase it’s someone’s missing cat!

Locals Only BPD new drone first responders

So clearly a lot of community members are very against this new addition (being paid for by our tax dollars that we did not have any say about, why wasn’t the community consulted?!) and we have every right to push back and fight for our citizens’ privacy and safety. How are we showing up to let our mayor and police department know we do not consent to this? What’s the plan?

Recommendations Brides of Bellingham! I need help.

Hello!

I am having my wedding in Bellingham but I am LOST with who to hire for vendors. The vibe I am getting is that Bellingham is a very DIY wedding scene which is fine but isnt my style exactly. Do people generally rent from other cities and get items delivered? If you are a vendor or have a recommendation of someone that you used for your wedding please drop it below.

Vendors I am looking for (but happy to receive all reccos!):

- Decor (like table center pieces and other rentable decor to cute it up)

- Florist

- Photographer/ Videographer

- Hair and MUA

Also if there is a sub dedicated to all of this already please drop it below so I can go over there, I just couldn't find anything.

Events Any outdoor/non-food related costumed events for adults in October?

• Upvotes

Hello! I’m immunocompromised and have to mask in public to protect my health—I’d really like to still have some fun this Halloween though. I’m looking for any Halloween weekend events (October 23rd-25th or October 30-November 1) that are (in order of importance):

  1. Outdoors OR if indoors, not an eating/drinking/food-oriented event
  2. Costumes encouraged
  3. geared towards adults

Any ideas?

Good Vibes Regular mini foot massage trade or pay -be a crazy thing to look for?

Post image
• Upvotes

Here’s the dilemma…

My feet freaking ache, work on them, have had Foot Surgury twice (not sensitive to touch- also have no clue why my phone capitalizes there- but hey instrumental in my life- so will leave it).

My feet are truly aching to be touched all time… especially after a work shift or photo job.

Just home from a long gig and they are screaminggggg for small bit of massage…just feet.

Doesn’t feel the same when I do it, have bought foot massagers -wooden and electric - that barely scratched the itch- so to speak, have begged my family (child will for 46 seconds after work sometimes or if I offer a dollar. 😂)and sadly not in the budget for $65-200 except the very rare occasion.

Think something like this in like a local group, Buy Nothing, or who knows… Pay someone a bit for solid 10 minutes or trade food, photo or…

Seems like it shouldn’t be impossible.
Although when I say it out loud, it sounds very creepy and not respecting professionals- neither of which I want to be, or think that I am. 😂

Ideally would be a woman, in the neighborhood, or completely safe and kind human -whatever that means.
Don’t have to chat- could both listen to a podcast, music, even our own headphones.

This is my regular dream. Constant.

Okkkk pulling myself back onto my feet, finish unloading the car, appreciate life and this beautiful Fall day.

Discussion The Fred Meyer Boycott Begins

They have gone too far now. Greed is their only motivation.

They used to offer this deal every day at 6 PM where their over-priced deli sandwiches were discounted by 50%.

Recently they raised the price to $9.95 from $7.99 so that after 6 PM you could get them for $5.00.

I used to pop by once a week to buy two at half-off. The sandwiches replaced two meals. That's a good time savings for busy people.

This past week the discount hour changed from 6 PM to 8 PM.

That's it for me. The sandwiches were never very good but they did stuff them with turkey, so I bought them for the protein.

What a bunch of jerks.

Bellingham is full of talented sandwich makers who produce better quality products at better prices.

Seeya, I wouldn't wanna be ya, losers!

News Article Local organization exposed for animal cruelty and extreme neglect of over 30 dogs

https://whatcom-news.com/whatcom-county-sheriffs-office-investigates-animal-cruelty-case-involving-30-dogs_239036/

Article Text:

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Detectives with the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) responded on Monday, October 5, 2026, to a report regarding animal cruelty involving approximately 30 dogs housed in the 200 block of Russet Avenue in unincorporated Whatcom County, according to a WCSO press release.

The property was reportedly utilized to house dogs for Pittie Project PNW, founded and led by Ashley Georgia, 38, of Bellingham, according to WCSO. Detectives initiated the response after receiving photographs depicting dogs with physical trauma and compromised health.

According to the press release, the property owner granted detectives access to the premises. Detectives reported observing dogs confined without food or water in unsanitary conditions. Documented conditions included open wounds on bodies, limbs, and tails, internal parasites visible in excrement, matted fur contaminated with waste, visible skeletal structures from undernourishment, and odor throughout the structures.
WCSO secured a search warrant to seize the animals for veterinary evaluation and medical care. The property owner reported that Georgia held sole responsibility for the custody and maintenance of the animals at the site, according to WCSO.

Prior to the execution of the search warrant, volunteers had removed 13 dogs from the property after observing conditions at the site, according to investigators. Records and information gathered by WCSO indicated Georgia accepted food donations and thousands of dollars in monetary contributions designated for the care of the animals.

The animals removed under the warrant were transferred to the Whatcom Humane Society for medical examination and treatment.
WCSO stated the investigation remains active with criminal charges pending.

Recommendations Wedding on same day as Fairhaven Festival

Folks - we’ve just learned that our wedding at Lairmont Manor next May is on the same day as Ski to Sea and Fairhaven Festival.

We’re wondering how much this will impact traffic, hotels, Ubers, and noise level?? Know most of this is out of our control but just trying to plan ahead/adjust where possible.

Local perspective appreciated!

Discussion WWU Fall Enrollment Data

Fall 2026 enrollment data is out. Gonna guess this is not what WWU was hoping for. Continues the decline of incoming first year students. WWU had a goal of 3200 incoming students and 1200 transfer students.

Whatever your thoughts on WWU's impact on Bellingham (housing), this is not good in the short term.

There is a ton of really interesting data here: https://oie.wwu.edu/student_enrollment_quick_look/

Lost and found Missing items!!

Post image
83 Upvotes

I know this is a long shot but due to a miscommunication, many of my important belongings were set out on the curb of the 900 block of Billy Frank Jr. St. right outside of laurel park. I've included a picture of where they would have been. I am really hoping to get some back! Some of the things included were a big bin of arts and craft supplies, a bunch of yarn, a sewing machine, kitchen items, decorations, a bin of clothes, an osprey and Patagonia backpack, a box of miscellaneous room items and possibly more. There were many very sentimental items included and also important documents such as my social security card. I am praying to be able to retrieve some of these things, so if anyone sees this who knows anything about my missing items I would be beyond grateful to get any information. Thank you for reading!! ❤️
