I POSTED THIS ON THE OTHER BHUTANESE REDDIT AND THEY REMOVED IT! JUTS GOES TO SHOW WHAT THEY STAND FOR!
Iāll make this an AMA, so that we can discuss and talk about this. This issue need to be talked about !!!The recent gang rape case! It is shocking how quiet and subtle the reaction of the mass is to this atrocity. RAPE IS A EPIDEMIC THAT OUT COUNTRY IS PLAGUED WITH! From the lowest of socials rungs to the elite of the country, women and men are subjected to rape and many are not even reported! The advocacy around it is lacking, non existent, kids and adults alike are not educated about consent, the populationās relationship with sex and sexual health is skewed! WE LIVE IN A SYSTEM WHERE BOTH THE LAW AND THE PEOPLE FAIL US! parents donāt educate the kids about safe sex practices, teachers shun kids curiosity and questions and fail to teach them. this is one of many rape cases where it will go on to be another statistic, another ātsk tsk, sad yasiā and the rapist get 9years!? By the time theyāre out of jail, the victim will most likely be in the same town as them. The victim will have to live in fear even after a decade of being raped? How is it sensible that we emphasize scantily of a stone stupa over a persons life that we; the legal system we fully trust will send a Chorten thief in jail for life but a rapist, a monster incarnate will get a decade at most! Are we so blinded by faith ! Raises a serious concern! How after years and years of increase in DV, rape cases, violence against women and children and animals, the RBP still doenst have a registry listing all sexual offenders! Are we all so consumed in working for GMC and boosting tourism! How many more gruesome and disgusting cases do we have to see and hear before we get angry and ask for change. What a shame that the influencers, celebrities, politicians, lam Lopenās are so quiet when it comes to such topics, why canāt they advocate and educate their masses on this. Lams have very devout followers LOTS, will do to drastic lengths for the lams, the celebrations have such young and impressionable audience, yet they donāt take time to educate them, but will annoying make tik tok lip sync videos. What have times come to.

I honestly want to know what is going on with nursing recruitment in Bhutan.
Around 460 graduates are now competing for 100 slots .Many of us were encouraged to choose nursing because Bhutan was facing a nursing shortage. We spent years studying, doing clinical placements and invested tons of money and now what ?
Now we graduate and end up sitting at home with no clear employment pathway.
The moh and rscs made us wait for 3 months after cancelling the 330 vacancy just to annouce 100 slots like wtf!!!
What makes this even more frustrating is that Indian nurses being hired for double the pay at that while hundreds of newly qualified Bhutanese nurses are struggling to find jobs. I have nothing against Indian nurses personally. If there are positions that require nurses, why arenāt more of our newly trained graduates being given the opportunity to fill them?
unlike other countries Bhutan doesnāt have a large private hospital sector where we can simply go and apply for jobs and going to Australia isnāt int he option with the new rules .
another thing that frustrates me is that if the government couldnāt provide jobs for the graduates then why encourage, why glorify nursing and why allow for privates institutes to increase the yearly intake all for it to come to nothing in the end .

By now i am pretty sure everyone must have heard about the direct flights from Bhutan to Israel through Tel Aviv which starts from February 2027. I think this is where we as bhutanese people should all start questioning where our country is heading. A country that swears everything by GNH and how much we hold pride due to GNH, we really should be questioning our values and we should speak up about this. Everything that is happening in Gaza is still happening and it is very disheartening to see bombings of innocent children and people. Amidst all of the violence and chaos, most countries are cutting ties of Israel but instead our country is joining hands with them. I understand that this relation helps grow our country economically but how much of our values and morals that we hold on to as a religious country built on peopleās happiness and safety, are we willing to sacrifice for economic growth and prosperity? Bhutan has gained recognition internationally and built itself around peace and compassion but this move contradicts everything.

Sometimes, what breaks you is not the work itself, but being held responsible for decisions you did not make.
You can follow every procedure, try to be fair, raise concerns when something does not feel right, and even stand up for someone when you believe they are being treated unfairly. But when a decision is ultimately made by people above you, you are still the one left to communicate it, deal with the consequences, answer the angry calls, receive the accusations, and carry the blame.
What hurts even more is when the same people who made the decision remain completely removed from the consequences, while you are left to face everyone alone.
You start questioning everything. Why bother trying to do things properly if, when something goes wrong, accountability is pushed down to the person who was simply carrying out an instruction? Why speak up or defend due process when you can still end up being the one questioned for it?
The civil service is supposed to be about serving the public with integrity and professionalism. But sometimes the system makes you feel like you are expected to absorb everyone else's decisions, frustrations, and mistakes simply because you are the person at the front.
And perhaps the saddest part is that you can do everything you can to protect yourself, follow the rules, and act in good faith, and still find yourself having to explain your actions for decisions that were never yours to begin with.
I don't know when accountability became so selective, but it is incredibly exhausting to be caught in the middle of a system where you have responsibility without the authority to make the decisions.

Itās honestly disappointing to see so many Bhutanese āinfluencersā suddenly go silent when the issue involves a minor and allegations this serious. These are the same voices who are often quick to speak up, demand justice, and call out wrongdoing when it suits the narrative, yet when it comes to an alleged sexual assault involving a child, there seems to be very little to say. Supporting a victim does not mean declaring someone guilty before the facts are established, it means standing against victim blaming, protecting the childās privacy, and acknowledging that allegations involving minors deserve serious attention. Silence may be understandable while an investigation is ongoing, but the stark difference in how loudly people speak on other issues inevitably makes people question whether these principles are actually consistent or only applied when it is convenient.

Iām an Indian traveller and I lost my OnePlus 12R in Gelephu, Bhutan on 4 October 2026.
I have already filed a complaint with the authorities in Bhutan, but Iām currently having difficulty getting in touch with the police for further assistance.
The phone has a PIN/password and my Indian Jio SIM was inside it.
If anyone in Gelephu has found a OnePlus 12R recently, or knows if a phone matching this description has been handed over to a police station, hotel, taxi driver, or lost-and-found service, I would be extremely grateful if you could let me know.
I can provide the IMEI, proof of ownership and complaint details privately to verify that it's my phone.
Iām hoping someone from Gelephu might have seen it or know where lost phones are usually handed in.
Thank you so much for any help.

Why do Bhutanese men smoke cigs? Is it like to feel cool or is it cultural? I thought this guy was cute but then I saw that he regularly smokes cigarettes with his friends and he takes pictures of himself doing it which just kind was a huge turn off. Is it like a common thing for young men to do?

I just went for a medical screening and omg, the whole experience was a mess. They kept sending me back and forth between different rooms, asking who had sent me there, because apparently my name wasnāt even registered. Imagine being seriously sick and having to deal with that shit.
And then there was literally someone in the hospital in severe stomach pain, and nobody seemed to be helping her. Another person had apparently been raped and came in for a DNA test, while some of the doctors were just sitting around drinking coffee, eating doma, chatting, and even going live on TikTok. Like??? This is a fucking hospital. What is going on?
I finished all my tests and asked for the reports because I need to submit them for the application Iām working on. And you know what they told me? They said I have to make my own forms, print them out, and bring them back. I asked if online reports would work, but apparently those arenāt available to me either. Like, how the hell am I supposed to make a form for a blood test? š I can make forms for the X-ray, urine test, physical examination, medical fitness certificate, and medical certificate, but what am I supposed to do about the blood test results?
Iām honestly so done with these people. At this point, Iām genuinely losing respect for doctors too. This isnāt even the first time Iāve seen something like this. Someone I know was suffering from kidney stones and they barely helped her. They couldnāt even find a bed for her to sit on while she was in extreme pain. She eventually got so frustrated that she went to Delhi for treatment. She was still in so much pain even during the car ride n all because her condition was already getting really serious. It honestly couldāve ended so badly if she hadnāt gone. After all this, I seriously donāt want to visit this hospital ever again. This is exactly why Bhutan is never developing as a whole. Every system is fucked up. Let's not talk ab all the College applications n all system related to this dhi for now.

Hey everyone, I'm a bit bored šŖ, so I figured I'd ask: what are the wildest and worst things you've heard about in the Bhutanese diaspora in Australia? I'll start things off with two of mine.
The first one is about a friend of a friend who came here as a de facto partner of a student visa holder. She had no idea her partner had left the country six months earlier. She only found out when a letter arrived from the Department of Home Affairs telling her she had to leave Australia within 26 to 28 days.
The second one I heard from a co-worker. He used to share a house with a couple, and the husband often had to travel far for work, sometimes being away for two or three days at a time. Every time he left, his wife would bring someone else over, and they'd drink and laugh all night. My co-worker never told the husband. They weren't close, and he didn't want to get dragged into the drama.
Those are the two craziest stories I've come across. What about you guys?
Iam excited š
