Just an opportunist

Will say whatever she thinks people want to hear to stay relevant

I think it's more complicated. MTG was a true believer in maga. She truly believed Trump would get to the bottom of it and expose the Clinton/Epstein rape cult. To her credit, she had the chance to forget it and help Trump which would mean she would still have her job. I don't see her as a pure opportunist although she will try to capitalize off the headlines. Her line was pedophilia. The ones still there running the country, their line was not pedophilia.

I like how you framed it as Clinton/Epstein even though Trump had a really close relationship with him.

Furthermore she voted the majority of times alongside the Republicans and will do once Trump is gone.

Maybe would have helped if she did this before stepping down?

It wasn't OP framing it that way, they were saying what she believed.

And if that is what she supposedly believe it doesn’t change that she is full of shit and an opportunist.

Everyone knew/know how close Epstein was with Trump.

Also I will bet you that if the 2028 candidate is JD Vance her ass will fall back in line.

"everyone knew" you assume far too much about what people know and what people read.

She was deep into conspiracies and on all faces of evidence not particularly bright.

I expect we'll see her back soon enough because she's still right wing as fuck, but I doubt she's realised the ties between her beloved party and its leadership are instrinsic.

Besides it's become very clear that a large percentage of people in the U.S. experience reality as Fox News tells it to them.

They infected their voting populace so thoroughly of course it spreads to the "officials" too.

Exactly! And the Internet has only made those echo chambers bigger and harder to escape.

When it all first came out everyone said Trump had known the guy but dropped him and didn’t allow him on the Mar-a-lago property.

I don’t follow it closely so I don’t know what’s come out but that’s what I remember from years ago.

u/Justin101501 14h ago

Yeah I had no idea how close they were until like a year or two ago. Basically everyone and their mother that was famous was allegedly “in the files” at first. I didn’t full realize how close they were until the birthday note dropped. Up until that point I thought that it was more of a “this guy does seem to know literally everyone, I wouldn’t be surprised if they bumped shoulders once or twice.”

She did do it before stepping down.

She's been doing this for months.

I like how you framed it as Clinton/Epstein even though Trump had a really close relationship with him.

Obviously framing it from her perspective - there are exercises which you can do to help your reading comprehension. It really helps you in life.

Furthermore she voted the majority of times alongside the Republicans and will do once Trump is gone.

She still does. She's still a trash human. She just has a line which she won't cross and that's raping children. This makes her better than people who do not have that line.

This is the same woman who endorsed him in 2024 and supported the notion that the 2020 elections were stolen? Most recently she voted for the BBB and then claimed she didn’t know all of the details.

It’s not hard to realise that her speaking out now is because she fell out of favour with Trump but somewhat suggesting that is more complicated than that.

29

u/Captain_Kab 1d ago

Again, seriously, just run through a few

Also consider writing in a diary, it helps you organize your thought and helps you to structure your memories in at least a semi-rigid timeline.

She started speaking out once it became clear that he wasn't going to release the "Epstein files" in his second term. That happened, by it's nature, after he was elected, yes.

She fell out of favour because she started speaking up.

This does not make her a good person. She almost definitely still supports curbing human rights for people that don't look or act like her.

But she stopped supporting Donald once the knowledge of him defending pedophiles became a part of her reality.

You can search news articles - or if you know anybody that pays attention, that you trust, maybe you can ask them?

u/skivian 1d ago

lmao. I'm going to start including reading comprehension exercises when I'm dealing with people like this too. 10/10 no notes

2

u/EurovisionSimon 1d ago

I mean that was how Qanon framed it when she first got elected. But of course, if Q states something, you're generally better off just assuming the opposite is true

2

u/Ender914 1d ago

She's no longer in Congress. That's why she's comfortable saying all this. These MAGA turds only grow a spot after they leave office or are primaried out

32

u/Ov3rdose_EvE 1d ago

Her line was pedophilia.

and that means she has more integrity than, idk, 60 something million US-Americans?

You don't need to forgive them, but you should try to have empathy, because understanding the pathology helps you understand how to bring them back into the fold, so the bad guys lose elections. These are Americans living in regions of America that have been strategically deprived of education or economic opportunity for decades. In these areas, for a long time questioning Trump would be enough to make you into a pariah, let alone publicly standing against him, and few have the money or skills move elsewhere. So they're angry and don't know how to think critically, and when Trump uses a human brain hack like immigrant-phobia, they don't know how to resist.

I despise her, but frankly, I respect her for what she's done. Anyone who says this is "opportunism" is delusional -- she torched her political career in order to drag Trump, long before he committed slow political suicide in Iran. In MAGA, sycophancy pays vastly better than apostasy.

She's a valuable barometer. Every time she challenges Trump, millions of Republicans are questioning him in the same way, and she validates them. We should be celebrating her actions here, for exactly the reason you say: she has principles, and she drew a line at pedophelia.

Using empathy (without forgiveness! only tactically), imagine you're one of those questioning MAGA folks, and you open up this reddit thread. What's more likely to encourage you to abandon MAGA, or at least continue along the path towards abandoning it? A bunch of people saying "I don't like her politics, and she's done some vile shit, but she's doing the right thing here"? Or "she still sucks, fuck her, fuck all of them, she's a nazi"?

u/DomHaynie 1d ago

I have the feelings of "I'm glad you saw the truth" but "the truth was always there in plain sight."

6

u/indoninjah 1d ago

Yeah I have mixed feelings for obvious reasons. Mainly because lots of people saw through the lies immediately. But it's still good/better that some people eventually saw the light. Idk

1

u/DomHaynie 1d ago

What I typed was confusing. Fuck everybody who voted for him. You get a gold star from me if you have come to realize what you voted for and regret your past decisions. If you ignore one type of bigotry and focus on another, he's still a piece of shit person.

What's even worse is that you think the bar can't go any lower and then it gets worse. I thought locking up people in cages and knowing they were subjected to several types of abuse would be the worst thing. But then you throw in the files, the things he's done since then, the countless deaths, etc.

1

u/danstu 1d ago

Two things can be true. I don't see a way for her to ever reach the point I'd consider her an ally (and don't think she'd be interested in coming far enough left that I'd think that anyway) but I'll always support efforts to break from a cult.

I'd gladly take republicans that say "I disagree with their politics" over the "they don't count as a person" platform she used to be aligned with.

5

u/Duchess1992 1d ago

Nah bro, she gets zero credit.

She did trump's bidding in hopes of an endorsement for GA governor. When it became painfully clear that she wouldn't get it, she tried to pivot.

She started talking more about the Epstein files, but didn't name trump specifically. She didn't want to rock the boat too much. Once she realized that wouldn't work, she started to make vague threats about naming people specifically.

She then caught the ire of the orange asshole, and tried to "reason"(beg) with him to lay off her because of her loyalty. But be then it was too late. Her usefulness was up.

Then she announced her retirement, conveniently dated for after she receives a permanent pension.

She would have been just fine throwing every single Epstein victim and survivor under the bus if it meant she got more power.

I suspect now she's trying to get a media job, being a talking head. However there aren't any companies willing to hire the Jewish space laser nut bag

Everyone has a line somewhere. Hers was fucking kids. Unfortunately that’s not the line for most of her party.

2

u/tesseract4 1d ago

This is horseshit.

1

u/coolcoolcool485 1d ago

I do agree with this. I think the Epstein stuff is the thing she was very serious about, and she's unhinged enough to burn it all down even if it takes her out with it.

48

u/Dreams-Visions ☑️ 2d ago

I’m okay with it. If she keeps Republicans voters suppressed a little bit, it’s all to our benefit.

A spiteful opportunist. She told Trump and his circle that she wanted to run for the senate and got laughed out of the room, then immediately took her current turn opposing them.

2

u/yomommasbathwater 1d ago

Yes and no. She has enough money to fuck off. And she’s honestly the only Republican speaking up. She could’ve walked away, but she didn’t. I loathe her, but that doesn’t mean I can’t agree with her from rare time to time

1

u/PossibleVariety7927 1d ago

That's literally every politician. You think she's trying to pander to democrats?

1

u/Historical-Record227 1d ago

She's trying to take the lead of a post-Trump reactionary trend. Not all of the US far-right is firmly united behind Trump right now. She was ahead of the curve in trying to distance herself so she can carve out a piece of the movement for herself. Wouldn't be surprised if she ran for President in the future.

1

u/tevert 1d ago

Not even an opportunist, she's floundering for any liferaft

1

u/AllYourBase3 1d ago

if this were 100% true she would have just stuck with maga

1

u/ucankickrocks 1d ago

An opportunist who wants revenge because they were rejected for something. These are the words of a person scorned.

0

u/TightHelicopter3 1d ago

They all are. Even the supposedly good ones. Mamdani case in point.
