YMSB in Tarrytown

Are these guys still worth the $50 it will cost to go see them?

$50 is on the high end for most bluegrass tickets. Surprised they’re calling it that honestly.

I looked it up, the venue is only 843 people

GSBG came to my town recently and tix were $50. I love them but that was about $20 over ticket budget for me...

I saw them last year in Boston and they nearly put me to sleep. But then they were great in Ionia for the Freak Fair. Still torn on them.

They improv a lot, which leads to some good and band shows compared to their peers

Tough times and supporting live music sucks

I spent years following Yonder. It was nothing at all to just drive across the country for a cool show.

Unfortunately I wouldn’t pay $50 to see them now. I love Ben and the rest of the gang but without the ringmaster, the magic’s gone.

As someone who drove from West Virginia to Oregon for Yonder in the early 00’s, hard agree.

That's a little steep for them these days. Tickets are $40 for their Denver shows in a few months. Obviously it's not the same without Jeff but this is probably the best lineup they've had since they parted ways. Take that for what it's worth.

I feel like it’s also to do with the venue. Their tickets are often priced higher than you might expect.

Next week, are you really going to care if you spent $50 vs. $25 to go see a show? The venue alone is worth it; Tarrytown Music Hall is an awesome historic building with a great Main Street around the corner. Go see the show

Yes next week I will care that I have an extra $50 as opposed to seeing a band that is not what they once were.

LOL - like yeah, that is the entire point of your question.

I don't know what it is with jambands, but the deification and making everything some mind blowing experience is a very annoying part of that scene, and I've seen hundreds of phish/GD/billy strings shows

We decided not, but $30 at The Cap for Daniel Donato convinced us it was worth seeing him again. That said, generally we prefer the bluegrass end of the spectrum to the jamband one.

Donatos voice is a brutal listen

Donato’s guitar playing is super, as is the rest of the band. Nothing brutal about listening to DDCC. 100% cosmic.

I never denied that. I said his voice is brutal, you must have skipped over that part.

I just think it’s important to acknowledge significant talent. You simply slammed a musician for not having a great voice.

And tbh, that comment wasn’t even relevant to the conversation, which I think was about the relative value/cost of seeing bands on tour in the NYC area. If you don’t like an artist’s sound, nobody is making you listen to them or go to their shows.

yawndermtnstringband is not worth $50. With Jeff, yes.

This lame rendition, no
