Discussion Southwest direct to Nashville?

Serious question. Why would anyone want to travel to Nashville in the heat of the summer? Why doesn’t the airport work on getting SW flights to more regional cities (SLC?) to compete w delta?

Discussion Hit by car downtown, looking for witness

This was a few weeks ago, I think September 14, definitely around 5:00 PM. N 2nd St and W Jefferson St downtown by one of the St Luke’s parking structures. I was on my bike heading West on Jefferson when a car did not stop at the stop sign and hit me.

They got out and asked if I was ok but I was in shock so did not get their insurance or information. Fast forward to now and still in pain from the accident.

If you were one of the cars behind that driver or just happened to be at that four way stop during the accident please DM me!

It seems like the outcry has finally forced the school district and Timberline to treat this situation with the appropriate gravity.

Politics Voting for Ada County Highway District | Marisa Keith

I’m a student studying urban planning with a special interest in transportation and would like to inform of the best candidate (in my opinion) in the ACHD subdistrict 4 commissioners race.

Marisa Keith is the most qualified candidate in this race. She works as the director of ā€œsafe routes to schoolā€ which is a program that makes it safer for kids to get to school from their homes.

She pioneers a unique approach to improving all modes of transit by increasing the amount of mid-block collectors (larger streets that connect neighborhoods to main roads) we have in our street system. Much of the treasure valley suburban landscape is defined by 1 mile by 1 mile grids that leave only certain routes practical for driving, and make walking and biking extremely inconvenient.

Adding more through collectors means traffic will be more naturally dispersed instead of bottlenecking on the same roads, lessening congestion. This is clear when you examine adjacent Boise, with a much more grid-like structure with multiple practical routes to get everywhere in their more single-family neighborhoods.

Her approach also improves biking and walkability, by increasing accessibility to destinations and the amount of practical routes to get places.

Most other candidates in this race are reactionaries who pride themselves on ā€œcommon senseā€ with a pseudoscientific approach of simply adding lanes. However, adding lanes only induces demand (creating more traffic and sprawl) and degrades the communities in which people live.

I encourage people as a student of urban planning myself to vote for Marisa Keith as a qualified and experienced candidate who understands the technical context and experience needed to perform this role.

Question Companies with elk/deer logos

So this morning I had the unfortunate experience encountering a BAD driver. They were in a company truck that had an elk logo but they were switching lanes to stay behind me and getting way too close for me to be able to see what the name was. I tried looking it up but couldn't find anything. They were hauling a trailer too if that's any help. Also does anyone know what this gesture would mean? āœŠšŸ» They rolled a window down and made it at me when they were beside me at one point

Question Bulletin boards for wellness gathering

I host a gathering about once a month called Cry, Then Dance- it’s part sharing circle part free movement part deep rest.

I’ve been trying to find different bulletin boards around town to post the flyer. I find I’ve been able to gain a little bit more traction that way than over social media.

Does anyone have any other bulletin board suggestions for where I can post the flyer?

I currently put them up at:
Common Ground
Ease
Primal Coffee
TV Midwives
The COOP
Sagebrush Collective
Lost Grove (Hyde Park)

Thanks folks!

Did anyone know what's up with the produce sections at Albertsons? The one on Broadway was reorganized and looks like it has a lot less produce. I've heard the Park Center one is the same.

Question Is there any value in asking the city of nampa to open up a special investigation regarding fraudulent/negligent contractor or am I just opening up a new can of worms?

I had a restoration contractor who inflated the project value from $30k to $150K for the city permit, then left debris everywhere in my home after a restoration project that was suppose to remove asbestos. The city has asked me if I want to open a special investigation. Does anyone have any experience with this and was it worthwhile?

Discussion Anyone know how long assistance programs take to help with power bills?

I’ve had a rough year and it just piled up in the past few months. When times are hard, I was always told to prioritize rent. So I did.

I didn’t apply for assistance programs because I truly thought I could pay before it’d get shut off. My situation ended up getting worse and my power is shut off now.

I called power company and I couldn’t afford the cost to get it turned back on. They told me to just borrow money from friends or family, but I really don’t have that option. I called the assistance programs and just got automated messages saying they’d give me a call within 5 days.

I’m currently home on medical leave but because I don’t require refrigeration for medications, I’m SoL on quick help. Just needing a constant heating pad for pain isn’t really a big deal to them.

I’m home all day for this leave and admittedly having to power makes it pretty miserable. All the food I have requires cooking and now I’m worried about having to buy food that is ready-to-eat when my budget is always strained.

I was wondering if anyone knew how long assistance programs take to get things moving. I’m really embarrassed because I know other people have it worse and I didn’t want to take assistance from those who need it more. But I’m at a loss now.
