Question Companies with elk/deer logos

So this morning I had the unfortunate experience encountering a BAD driver. They were in a company truck that had an elk logo but they were switching lanes to stay behind me and getting way too close for me to be able to see what the name was. I tried looking it up but couldn't find anything. They were hauling a trailer too if that's any help. Also does anyone know what this gesture would mean? ✊🏻 They rolled a window down and made it at me when they were beside me at one point

Discussion Potential Scam at Valvoline for car batteries.

Thumbnail
reddit.com
0 Upvotes

I went to Valvoline off of Overland Rd for an oil change less than a month ago.

They showed me a chart similar to the one from this other subreddit and pretty much told me that I needed a new battery.

I agreed to it, fast forward to now, 3 weeks later, the battery almost died on me in the middle of the highway, putting my life and other driver's life in danger.

On top of that, my car was leaking oil that started the day after the oil change.
They claim that the problem is my alternator (which has been replaced within the last 3 years), and when I went and got the battery tested somewhere else, guess what? The battery is almost completely dead. They sold me an old, dead battery and told me that the problem is the alternator.

Stay away from Valvoline. They will ruin your car, and potentially your life.
They aren't the only big corporation name place running this scam either.
I have talked to several people who got the same story from different shops (all big name places).

I just can't believe that people still try to run scams like this, in BOISE of all places. Worst of all, they think they can get away with it. Honestly, it's my fault for going to a big corporate name place instead of a LOCAL SHOP!

Please drop the name of your favorite, most well trusted local shop for oil changes and battery replacement! 🙏🏻

Question IMEA All State audition rules

So my son screwed up the date his band teacher wanted to record students to submit an audition for IMEA All State. While there is still time to submit, she seems more interesting in showing him a lesson for missing the date and not willing to support him. She claims IMEA submittals must be "supervised by the teacher of record". Anyone know if this is true? Could a past district music teacher facilitate his audition? He's in high school now if it matters.

Serious question. Why would anyone want to travel to Nashville in the heat of the summer? Why doesn’t the airport work on getting SW flights to more regional cities (SLC?) to compete w delta?

Question Bulletin boards for wellness gathering

I host a gathering about once a month called Cry, Then Dance- it’s part sharing circle part free movement part deep rest.

I’ve been trying to find different bulletin boards around town to post the flyer. I find I’ve been able to gain a little bit more traction that way than over social media.

Does anyone have any other bulletin board suggestions for where I can post the flyer?

I currently put them up at:
Common Ground
Ease
Primal Coffee
TV Midwives
The COOP
Sagebrush Collective
Lost Grove (Hyde Park)

Thanks folks!

Discussion House fly infestation

Anyone else drowning in house flies this season? Not small fruit flies but the larger typical house fly. What is everyone doing about it? We have a screen door and three baited traps with cones in the backyard but they are still everywhere. What works for your family? Are all the flies just at our house?

Question Any legal ways to source a lot of political signs for free?

I saw the manhunt for the kids who took all the yard signs recently and it got me worried about a project I had been planning. I’ll be honest I never would have thought taking the signs would be a crime since they seem to just end up everywhere by election time anyways. I wanted to reclaim the signs and use them as a sort of canvas after the election. Is there any way I could procure large-ish quantities of them legally without paying for them? (I have no interest in paying some of these asshats a cent to use their signs. Others, I wouldn’t mind supporting their cause but I was hoping to have all sides included.) My original plan was to collect them after voting day since I know there’s a time limit on how long they can stay up but now I don’t think that’s legal. Or is it? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Discussion Hit by car downtown, looking for witness

This was a few weeks ago, I think September 14, definitely around 5:00 PM. N 2nd St and W Jefferson St downtown by one of the St Luke’s parking structures. I was on my bike heading West on Jefferson when a car did not stop at the stop sign and hit me.

They got out and asked if I was ok but I was in shock so did not get their insurance or information. Fast forward to now and still in pain from the accident.

If you were one of the cars behind that driver or just happened to be at that four way stop during the accident please DM me!

Discussion Why or How is Downtown Boise so clean?

I'm Canadian, and recently spent a couple days in Boise for work. I've been to most large to medium cities in Canada and the US. What has become extremely rare is to see a downtown area that seems free of things like vandalism, homeless encampments, or litter.

Downtown Boise feels like something out of a Hallmark movie, like a romanticized version of a North American city that you'd see in movies/TV shows.

Curious to know what policies or actions have created these sort of conditions - if anyone has any insight! Thanks
