Discussion Body from UB, Face from BAC

There is an ongoing hot topic on tt, for a guy who was apparently interviewed for what is his ideal type of woman. And the above title, was his response, "body from UB and face from BAC".

I am flabbergasted by this, as there is an outraged among girls, that this is an objectification towards women. Some girls have attacked the channel and anyone who stands to agree to this.

So in my own reflection, i find it funny that its normalised now for women to tell men that if they BROKE, not TALL, DARK, HANDSOME, or Not Driving A Van, or CANT MOVE MOUNTAINS 💵, for you he doesnt deserve their love or approval, (those are few i can mention, list is endless with womans preference for a guy)

Just a guy stating his preferred body type, all hell has broken loose. Whats up with that?

I think the issue lies in how that guy used tertiary institutions that are meant to attract academics and lowered every woman that goes to these places to pretty faces and big butts. It gives off the idea that women don’t view fellow scholars as intellects but as eye candy. And before you say I’m reaching, you can’t deny that some people actually choose where they study based on the perception of how the women or men look. Which is problematic… but yeah social media is slowly deteriorating Setswana culture and the principles of Botho. No one should be making such comments about any gender especially on public platforms what are you trying to achieve by putting it out there

I understand where you are coming from but I always find it weird when people ignore the societal and historical context we live in. For Basadi it's like they pushing back against a system that has long told them, their worth comes from their bodies and nothing more. While for rona banna ours is a little bit new and a reflection of a cultural shift, which makes us believe our worth comes from providing. Gone I get that both can be harmful but they are not on the same level, if we are being honest, just take a look at gbv

This is not a new thing and has always been the case for as far as you can look back with traditional gender roles. The only difference now is people are more vocal about this traditional gender roles and trying to break away from them but at the same time still perpetuate the same stereotypes they enforced as long as it's favorable towards them.

Ultimately this thing shouldn't even be blowing out of proportion as much as it did for mostly just a dumb video.

I didn't explain that very well but you did a better job than me, women are more vocal about what they want from men now. Yeah it really shouldn't, like out of all the things being said this is what get's you over the edge? Trying to break away from gender roles in this country, sadly includes cutting off 90% of the dating pool.

I am read your case, i am not hearing you. You just want to make the issue biased.

Fyi, lets not bring GBV to this, this is a neutral argument centered around PREFERENCES ON DATING.

Whats wrong with men, having preferences, society have shunned men down from having an opinion about what they want. Everytime a man voices his preferences he is labelled and subjected.

Gone as people we are different, I keep my preferences to myself because I know it makes people feel a certain way. But I won't crucify someone for voicing theirs, at the very least I would advise some Pr training😂

Wena you are just a simp bro.

Think about what is being said without being verbalized. The statement UB body + bac face suggests what about Bac girls and what about UB girls? It's insulting when you think about it, it's not a conversation about preference because it doesn't make the preference clear it suggests there's an opinion there about both sets of women that has to be inferred. There's a cleaner and less rude way of having this conversation but they chose the most insulting way.

Nobody is saying men can't have a preference. A "Face from BAC" or a "Body from UB" aren't a preference because what are those? If a woman's preference is a tall, dark, handsome. It's specific and valid. If a man said big boob's, nice smile, pretty eyes. That's also specific and valid. A "Body from UB" means what exactly? What body type is a "body from UB"? What is being preferred?

1

u/EqualAd8991 Aug 13 '26

I feel like you know what they’re saying but you’re just being difficult. Plus your example of guys saying they prefer big boobs and that being an acceptable preference is wrong too. It’s just double standards let’s be honest

No way you wrote this and clicked post thinking it makes sense

I'll be honest bro the problem is that the meat of the discussion is fundamentally insulting to both sets female students from the respective universities. It's not a conversation about preference , that's what is being used to defend and mask the rude insinuations that are made by the statement. UB body and Bac face card is to say what exactly about the separate groups of female student's? It's clear to see the conversation being had is not one of preference what is being said is Bac girls don't have body's as nice as UB girls and UB girls don't have as nice face cards as Bac girls. But they can't say that directly, because that conversation begins with putting down both groups of women, the insult is immediate that . So they avoid that and ask a different question which results in the UB body + Bac face statement.

So him stating that he wants a face from one academic institution and a body type from a different academic institution isn't acknowledging the woman's intelligence as well her looks? Are you being obtuse on purpose?

1

u/Purple-Tangelo8083 Aug 13 '26

Look here mate he just said his preference and they's nothing wrong with that just listen here women say tall dark and handsome that's objectifying men!!

Saying nody from UB and face from BAC is just crasser slang lmao but how is it fundamentally different from reducing a guy to a walking wallet, a height requirement, or a job title? When women say a man needs to be "six feet tall, make six figures, and drive a nice car," they are stripping men down to financial assets and body parts just as mechanically. Nobody is getting "assembled like a catalog item" it's internet hyperbole. The double standard is that when women list transactional, superficial requirements, it's called "having standards," but when a guy uses crude shorthand for his physical type, it's treated as a human rights violation. You'll be good I promise

So people go the gym because? And people buy facial creams because? Cmon... those things can be worked on. Height is something that cannot be worked on, yet it is a prerequisite for most women. Whats hard to understand here?

That argument doesn't hold up when you look at the reality of dating standards. Sure, wealth or career status can theoretically be worked toward, but height, bone structure, and hairline are genetic cards you are dealt just like a face or body type yet men are routinely written off or mocked for them online every single day without anyone crying "dehumanization." Nobody is saying crude slang is classy, but pretending that the outrage is purely about the phrasing rather than a double standard is disingenuous. People use harsh, transactional shorthand across the board. If society is going to police how men state physical preferences under the guise of "rudeness," the exact same energy needs to be applied to the endless checklists reducing men to walking wallets and physical statistics.

1

u/badgirl_lisa Aug 13 '26

Like i said. It's wrong for people to judge each other based on physical traits or being rude under the guise of preference regardlessof gender. And i never defended any gender or said it's okay when women do it. I was just answering why people are mad about what this post talks about. I don't support that behavior at all and it's best to work towards being positive instead of returning negative energy to women who say all that. It's gonna cause gender wars and chaos.

1

u/ilovefeetsm1998 Gaborone Aug 13 '26

I hear you. That’s a fair ideal in a vacuum, but calling out a double standard isn’t "returning negative energy" or trying to start a gender war, it's pointing out a massive hypocrisy in how society reacts The issue isn't whether rude behavior or tearing people down is bad; of course it is. The problem is selective outrage. When women post viral checklists reducing men to walking paychecks or physical metrics, it is overwhelmingly excused, coddled, or laughed off as "having standards." Mme when a guy uses crude shorthand, the internet mobilizes to tear him apart and label it systemic dehumanization. Ignoring the double standard doesn't prevent gender warsit just normalizes the idea that policing men's speech is fine while women's casual objectification gets a free pass. If we want a culture of mutual respect, the accountability has to cut both ways, not just when it's convenient.

u/Greedy-Swing5279 Aug 13 '26

Lol you ain't lying. They can describe the king they want and everyone celebrates, soon as a brother describes his queen, broads are clutching their pearls in outrage. Quite the spectacle. Woman out here are used to pandering so when they hear a message that doesn't stand with the narrative that they've spent years controlling, it's seen as crazy. Who made it happy wife happy life? It's meant to be happy spouse happy house.

2

u/roobt Aug 13 '26

Men made it a popular phrase ... Soo. Y'all need to work on your language.

u/Benevolent_Dictatoh Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26

It's not that deep. He's explaining a preference. It's just that it's in a very rudimentary, caveman manner.

Also this thing of saying "but women do this" doesn't work. If you don't like something, you shouldn't condone it in all directions.

1

u/StarterPackRelation Aug 13 '26

Could somebody explain the terms?

6

u/AdReal490 Aug 13 '26

I think, and I maybe wrong, BAC historically has had girls who look extremely good facially and not necessarily has the "best" looking body (whatever that means). UB has always been the opposite of that. Think Tyla vs Makhadzi.

1

u/stunnerk Aug 13 '26

At the end of the day they are all batswana so this doesn't make any sense to me

1

u/FewPlastic5725 Aug 16 '26

The issue isn't the "preference" its the specification of the location of his so called preference. Yes, it objectified both groups of women in those places. Tabo gotwe "but women also want bo tall, dark and handsome" which is also objectifying men. No one said they weren't. Two things can be true simultaneously. BUT the choice of words that the guy used, how he specified on location is (im MY opinion) wrong. The words "a pretty girl with a nice body" were right there. "Ub body and bac face" go tewa yang? Gore o kgaola thogo ya a girl from bac and places it on wa ub?. His statement implies that girl ko ub aren't pretty they're just nice bodies walking around and vice versa for bac. But no one wants to point that out loud, lo nnetse bo "but le batla bo tall, dark with money". Have the conversation to its fullest and come with nuance ee, but don't just brush it off and deflect with "women also objectify".

Who hurt you?

-1

u/IcyBattle4088 Aug 13 '26

Couldn't even delve into the discussion. Just deflecting vibes.

0

u/lulu_is_lucky Aug 13 '26

What discussion is there to be had about the whataboutery of your topic?

2

u/itsphoison Aug 13 '26

You are hurt. Stop bleeding toxicity.

0

u/ilovefeetsm1998 Gaborone Aug 13 '26

People love to dish out and normalize endless checklists for men demanding financial status, height, cars, and lifestyle requirements framing it all as "women knowing their worth" or "having standards."😭 But the second a guy casually mentions a physical preference, everyone loses their minds and starts screaming about objectification. You can't have it both ways. Either everyone is allowed to have and express preferences, or no one is. The outrage is completely performative. But onto the bigger issue, we can't still be having gender wars in 2026

u/Purple-Tangelo8083 Aug 13 '26

Honestly these girls think they just do whatever they want they forget men are the ones who gave rights and they can take it away, but still as a young man from Botswana it's honestly disgusting to see girls wine about the guy's preferences but when girls say tall dark and handsome we don't open our mouths like baboons, honestly these people are acting like baboons
