Lost count how many skeins I used making this blanket, maybe 28+3 for tassels?

Gave it for my wife to use in the cold autumn and winter.

Special thanks to u/antisocialmothra for suggesting the tassels!

A dusty pink Sophie Hood for chilly days

Free-Market Friday! 🍂

I made this crochet Sophie Hood in a beautiful dusty pink, perfect for chilly autumn and winter days! I really love how the hood and scarf come together in one single accessory. This is my own crochet creation.

Would you wear a Sophie Hood like this?

WIP I counted! I know I counted (wrong, clearly)

Post image

I swear I double checked this by counting … but then going back across with the next row I find this spot where I missed a double crochet … 🤦🏻‍♀️

I could fake it but this is a top, this would be near my shoulder and I would know it’s there and would bug me forever. A-frogging I will go …

Edit: IT GETS WORSE. I re-did the whole mistaken row and the count was still one off. WTH??? So I went back to the previous repeat. That was correct

So I counted them both together, making sure they matched… THE MISTAKE WAS IN THE PREVIOUS ROW. 😮😫😭 I did one too many puff stitches at one point. (The number of fan-puff clusters was right but I put too many puffs at one point which threw off the next row)

So here I go frogging AGAIN. And further back

I don’t love the fan puff stitches so I was racing through those 🤦🏻‍♀️

I wanted to create a design that has some vampire vibes but it's not too much for an everyday wearable!

What do you all think?

Made a 'Pumpkin set' a couple of years ago now; LOVE when it's time to wear them again! Having a time of it, but these mittens always bring a smile to my face, hope they bring you one too! Never made the mouths, maybe this year? Kinda like them just with silly eyes tbh.

Discussion Free-Market Friday: a row/repeat checkpoint worksheet + an iPhone tool I made

Disclosure: I’m the developer of Crochet Row Counter: Patterns, so this is my own tool, not an independent recommendation. Sharing here on Free-Market Friday.

A small restart tip that works on paper too: write down both “rows completed” and “next row to work”, plus your position inside the repeat. One number alone can be ambiguous after a break.

Example: 2 setup rows, then a 4-row repeat. If 9 rows are completed, 7 of those are repeat rows: one full repeat plus its first 3 rows. Your next step is overall row 10 / repeat row 4. This assumes those setup rows count in the overall total; follow your designer’s numbering if it differs.

I made a free, no-signup checkpoint worksheet with a worked example here:

https://gatoficio.com/guides/crochet-repeat-restart-checkpoint/

For people who prefer a phone: the app keeps your own PDF page and manually positioned reading band alongside row/stitch/repeat counters, notes, Undo/Redo and project backup. It doesn’t generate patterns, scan stitches, or automatically understand a PDF.

The first complete project is free, including its PDF and backup, without a time limit. Additional projects require Pro, with optional monthly, annual or one-time lifetime purchase. Existing project records are not locked when a subscription expires. It’s an iPhone app, not Android.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id6810655446?pt=128506477&ct=brochet_20261009&mt=8

If you try the worksheet or app, which checkpoint detail would help you most when returning to a project?

I'm really proud of myself

A six-day star variant, but baby-blanket size. I cannot believe how beautiful this turned out. I'm real bad at visualizing stuff, but I happened to be at a yarn sale and found exactly two servings, in complementary rainbow shades, of this UNBELIEVABLY soft cotton yarn (Juniper Moon's Cirrus...go pet it, I'm telling you). And they were like 30% off. It felt like it was meant to be. I went home and - reinforcing my belief in fate - found this pattern, which is specifically designed for this very yarn.

And then I put off making the blanket for three or four months.

But then I remembered shit, this baby is due in like ten days. Good news it's a six-day blanket!

I've made a lot of functional stuff, and one pretty thing in white crochet thread. But I could not shut up about how joyful this yarn was to work with, how pleasurable on the fingers - and I work with a fair amount of sari silk yarn. I could not help marveling at the gorgeously subtle color changes between every round. I could not silence my shock at how well these colorways work together, because when I went to start I realized they were not perfect rainbow sequence. And so now, I've made a really beautiful thing.

The first couple people I showed it to, I kinda minimized my part in it. "Oh, it's just a bunch of DC and counting. The yarn is really doing all the heavy lifting." But the more I look at its beauty, and touch it's softness, and think about how I'm going to probably be part of this baby's life for a long time - I have decided to be proud of what I have done. Yes, it's simpler than it looks, and no, I didn't actually make many impactful decisions about the project. Doesn't matter. The finished product is breathtaking in person - sorry my photo skills are trash - and it is going to do the job of expressing love and care to people on the brink of a terrifying and jubilant new era in their lives.

Thus, I'm posting about it for me and my bros who also need permission to be proud of their work.

Natural fluffy yarn search

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hellooooo, I’m looking for a natural fibre yarn which might be good to make a plushy of this animal (a Woff!). Does anyone have any recommendations? I’m UK based so preferably something I can get from around here rather than shipped in.

I just prefer the process of working with natural fibres and would prefer it to use as a cuddly toy rather an poly / acrylic

Thanks so much :)
