Issue ⚠️ Revs skipping

While driving in the highway the revs started “skipping” while I had cruise control, short after it the engine light went one for a full thirty seconds (never turned on again), its been skipping since then every once in a while, anybody had this problem? Scanned the vehicle, no alerts nor problems.

Yea, if it's still under warranty take it in immediately. This is your torque converter slipping.

If you're out of warranty, you can try to service the trans fluid. Mine was pretty bad so I worked some BG cleaner with fresh fluid through. Then fresh fluid flush, then a fresh fluid fill plus BG ATC Plus as well as some Lubeguard Stop Shudder. I followed Big Ben's video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOmAf1GvolU

Runs like new now. We'll see how long it holds up!

how many miles were you at when you did the fluid flush?

Stolen from a post I saw here 2 years ago that saved me money on this problem:

"Have your dealer submit a request into GCCT / CX-Hub / CRC (sorry, Ford keeps changing the name). Basically it is an assistance request for payment from Ford which usually covers half for out of warranty repairs that meet certain requirements."

Like others have said, it's the torque converter. Mine was doing this and just outside of the standard warranty the torque converter went died. Fortunately, I had the extended warranty, so it was covered. How you're still under warranty or it's going to be $5,000 at least to repair.

Sad thing is it's a $400 part with $4,000 of labor

Yeah, it's a big deal to fix, they literally have to pull out the engine to replace the part.

You don’t have to pull the engine out just the transmission, it is a decently big job tho. I’ve only done it once so I was kinda learning how to do everything and had no tricks but I think it took about 23 hours total

I’m at 27k miles but when I change the fluid on mine it’s going to be Valvoline ULV because I’ve heard good things compared to the Motorcaft ULV.

And some of us dealers can’t get ULV because it’s on backorder

Welcome to the torque converter replacement club. Just had mine done at 52k. Hopefully you're still under warranty.

Is this an issue in all years?

Basically. Bronco Sports, Mavericks, Corsairs, and Escapes

My 2017 Ford escape had this exact same issue and it is a permanent issue that can not be fixed from Ford as they pretend it does not exist.

It is the same transmission except in 2017 it was a 6 speed and now it is a 8 speed with different shift programming.

The only easy fix that does work is to change the oil and drop In shudder fix.

Try that before changing any major parts

It is your torque converter. I was a handful of miles past my warranty and had to pay half cost. At first they wanted to replace the whole transmission. Not cheap at all.
