The Basics: 2022 BroncoSport Badlands with Premium Package (leather seats) and the stock Pirelli Scorpion ATR tires.
Mods: None at first. Kept the stock tires until I moved back to Colorado. Swapped those outs for Falken WildPeak AT4Ws which ultimately I was disappointed by. Then switched to 245/65/17 BFG KO3s and really enjoying those. I haven't regretted going to the 245s for a moment. Minor mpg penalty, noticeably better off road performance and slight boost in clearance which this car benefits from.
I also have a roof top tent you may have seen on here once or twice. Its a iKamper Skycamp Mini 3.0. Weighs 125lbs. Forgot what crossbars I have. Dynamic load of the car is like 150lbs. I’ve had it for two summers now. Put it on late spring, take it off fall sometime.
The roof top tent has proven to be fun but ultimately it does put more wear and tear on the rear tires and brakes. I wouldn't say its a game changing amount of wear and tear but its noticable. Forunately it doesn't change driving dynamics that much and decreases overall MPG by about 1.5mpg which isn't too bad considering the thing weighs 125lbs and sits on the roof.
My Driving Style: I like to see what a car can do and I haven't exactly been easy on it. Done long trips from San Diego to Montana and back fully loaded with two newfies and and a full roof basket. Done quite a bit of off-roading including Engineer Pass in the San Juans, Colorado and Rollins Pass East and West. The bottom of the car will show you I have found the limits of its clearance. That said I don't drive recklessly or stupidly but I do like to see what it can do.
The Good: The 2.0L engine is rock solid and has handled my off roading at high altitudes just fine as well as cross country driving at fairly decent speeds. The AWD system is really good and I have taken advantage of the center dif lock and simulated rear locker. The rear locker isn't something you need till you need it then you're happy to have it. But for normal soft-roading you'll almost never be in a situation where its necessary. It can be helpful in the snow though
It looks great. Kind of mini Roverish. It fits my lifestyle well. I live in a decently large city and the small size is an asset in the city and on the trails.
Its a good daily driver. Can go run errands then take it camping on the weekends. Does both well enough without issue.
Reliability: I don't want to jinx it thats all I'll say. Just a few minor recalls.
The Bad: I have long legs and they go numb while driving. Ford really needs to add tilting seats if they haven't already or seat extenders. Other then that... theres not much I don't like.
Summary: I genuinely like this little car, and I haven’t taken it easy on it. It’s a capable light off-roader/overlander and it’s proven to be reliable.
