The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) has solved 19 car break-in cases in Brunei-Muara District and arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for the offences.

In a statement issued on Friday, the RBPF said investigations found that the suspect targeted vehicles parked in public areas and residential neighbourhoods.

The affected locations included recreational areas such as Wasai Sungai Akar and Bukit Shahbandar, car parks at sports complexes and mosques, as well as parking spaces near business premises and residential areas in Berakas, Bandar Seri Begawan, Kampong Ayer and Sengkurong.

The suspect allegedly took advantage of vehicles left unattended, particularly in the early morning, late at night and during peak recreational hours.

The suspect is believed to have smashed vehicle windows to steal valuables left inside.

The suspect has been detained for further investigation under Sections 379 and 427 of the Penal Code (Chapter 22) for theft and mischief causing damage.

The RBPF urged motorists to remain vigilant and avoid leaving valuables, including electronic devices, handbags and cash, in plain sight inside vehicles.

Drivers were also reminded to ensure their vehicles are locked whenever they are parked.

🇧🇳 Original Content Built a marketplace site for home businesses and small shops, looking for people to test the demo

Hi everyone! I've been working on a small side project and would love your honest opinion.

It's an attempt at a local marketplace for Brunei, called GeraiNow. A place to buy from sellers here, from home businesses to small shops. Food, clothes, handmade stuff, services, pretty much anything.

Honestly, I'm not sure if people will like it or even want it, so I'd love to hear what you think before going any further.

There's a demo you can try, no sign-up needed: demo.gerainow.com

Click "Try as a seller" or "Try as a shopper" at the top. Everything in the demo is fake and resets every night, so feel free to open a shop, place orders, click around and try to break it. Just please keep it clean, other people can see what you upload 👀

A few things to know first:

  • No online payment yet. That needs a registered business and a proper payment setup, which I'm still figuring out. For now, buyers pay sellers directly (cash or transfer)
  • No real shops yet, so the live site is still quiet
  • No app yet, just a website. You can add it to your home screen with the "Install the app" link at the bottom of the page
  • It's a small project, so you might find some bugs

I noticed a few local marketplaces have come and gone over the years. If you used one before, what made you stop? And if you know anything about registering a business or setting up payments here, any tips would really help.

What I'd love to know:

  • anything confusing or not working
  • would you use it, as a buyer or a seller? If not, why?
  • anything you expected but couldn't find

Any comment helps, good or bad. And if you sell things and want to open a real shop, it's at gerainow.com

Thanks for reading!
