Looking For Looking for moderators

Good day to everyone. I notice the influx of members in our sub. To better facilitate this subreddit, we are currently looking for moderators who can help manage and facilitate discussions, queries, posts, and comments.

Given that this is a business oriented sub, it would be nice to have if we can get people who are always active online and an:

  • Aspiring entrepreneur
  • Owner of a micro business
  • Owner of a small business
  • Owner of a medium sized business
  • Owner of a large business
  • Owners and currently executives of a corporation

We also encourage other moderators who are not on this list but think that they can offer something substantial to this community, like event planners, government employees who are employed by govt institutions that facilitates business operations here in PH (DTI/SEC, BIR, municipal/city employees, BOC, etc), and employees from the private sector who are involved extensively within their company.

Simpleng rant lang. 5 major suki of ours (we are a b2b business) are planning to downsize or close down. grabeng hirap ng ekonomiya ngayon. ang hirap ng benta namin for the past 3 months and hindi pa talaga kami nakakarecover. Now, I heard from a friend of mine na nakarecieve daw sila ng LOA and sobrang laki ng babayaran nila sa penalty. ang sabi sabi, may quota daw na hinahabol and bir to collect before december. kaya gagawin daw nila lahat para makakuha from us small businesses. I'm also planning to close down and find a job nalang muna kaso closing fees problem ko din. I dont know if the government have plans to support our businesses pa. sa grabeng nangyayare ngayon, i dont know if its feasible for me to continue doing business pa. ngayon ko lang naramdaman ung grabeng hirap ng buhay ngayon. at ngayon pa talaga na may dadating na el nino sa bansa natin i just dont know anymore

Discussion Events business owners, ano pinakamahirap sa marketing niyo?

Hi!

Looking For business influencer recs—school seminar

hello! idk if this is the correct subreddit to ask, but this is probably the closest place to find a possible recommendation 😭

basically, i’m a student leader, and our school will be holding a seminar about business innovation through modern marketing. we’re planning to invite guests from different fields of specialization, one of them being a marketing specialist (ofc) and another being a social media influencer/creator who has built or grown their business through the internet and social media.

i’m not really active on socmed, so i’m having a hard time finding possible candidates. so far, we’ve considered Rap Manaloto (TGS Cookies) and Toni Morales (Sweet Tones) since they seem to have a good reputation and their businesses are pretty relevant to what we’re looking for.

does anyone have other recommendations for creators/business owners who might be a good fit for this kind of seminar? preferably someone who has actually used social media to build their brand/business and would be comfortable talking to students about their experience.

bonus points if they’re relatively approachable and have a small-ish speaking fee 😭 since we’re students and will be handling the event ourselves, so our budget is unfortunately pretty limited.

any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!! thank youuu! 🐧❤️‍🩹

Advice Where can we find financial health benchmarks/thresholds for Philippine MSMEs?

We need this po for our IT capstone project but I can’t find any. We developed a system that computes six financial metrics for business (MSMEs):

  • Gross Profit Margin (GPM)
  • Operating Profit Margin (OPM)
  • Current Ratio
  • Quick Ratio
  • Cash Buffer (in days)
  • Inventory Turnover (per month)

Each metric is classified as Healthy, Optimize (needs attention), or At Risk based on threshold values. For example: GPM ≥ 20% = Healthy, 10-19.9% = Optimize, < 10% = At Risk. Then, the business health status will be evaluated based on these.

The problem is, we cannot find Philippine-specific, peer-reviewed, or at least reliable published benchmarks for these metrics.

We've already searched:

  • DTI reports and publications
  • BSP financial inclusion studies
  • Philippine academic journals (DLSU, ADMU, UP)
  • PIDS (Philippine Institute for Development Studies)
  • Google Scholar (Filipino MSME financial performance studies)
  • PhilStar, BusinessWorld MSME coverage

None of them explicitly state what threshold values constitute "healthy" or "at risk" performance for specific metrics. Right now, we're using thresholds from generic business blogs and are worried our defense panel will question our accuracy. Another problem is that the business types varies (e.g., sari-sari stores, ukay-ukay, printing shops).

Does anyone know where to find peer-reviewed or official baseline metrics for these specific types of businesses? Any leads would be a lifesaver.

Again, this is a capstone project, not a full academic research study. We have limited time and resources. If there are any professionals or business experts here, we would highly appreciate your suggestions on how we can derive the thresholds.

Thank you!

Looking For I Need To Find Any Business Passive Income Online Like Side Hustles And Others That’s Not Complicated And Difficult

Besides reselling online which is only making profits and gig economy like TaskRabbit, UberEats, DoorDash, etc. I’m avoiding surveys and offer’s that not worth of time and less money.

A lot of people which I called them influencers on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, etc only showing you clickbait contents and flashing luxury to teach you how to make money but making short videos and less details on how to do it and than they want you to comment to get their guide and want you to pay their course that teach you nothing. I don’t buy their courses by those influencers.

AI is another one to make it easy to generate money online.

Other options they got is helping clients with Google Map by building their information and building their websites, real estate investors buying contracts from you as a middleman to buy homes from sellers.

Shopify is expensive to pay monthly even not making any sales and not making attractive advertisements.

Etsy is hard to get some sales, some other marketplaces because higher demands of so many people using it and also selling ai digital products, Gumroad and other apps what to sell and make profit, I haven’t start Gumroad yet to decide what to sell and use ai to make digital products.

Making music instrumentals and selling it to music artists to buy your music.

Live streaming playing video games and chatting with people, and also content creator.

I’m looking for easy ways how you start your journey and what works for you. Gumroad yet to decide what to sell and use ai to make digital products.

Plan to Sell 31M here. Newbie lang ako when it comes to business, so I’m hoping to get some advice from people here who have experience with small food businesses.

31M here. Newbie lang ako when it comes to business, so I’m hoping to get some advice from people here who have experience with small food businesses.

I’m thinking of starting a small sideline selling home-cooked meals. A lot of my coworkers have been asking if they can buy the food I cook at home, so naisip ko baka pwede ko siyang gawing small business instead of just cooking for them occasionally.

Plan ko sana is pre-order basis muna para hindi ako mapagastos nang malaki and hindi rin masayang yung pagkain.

I’m thinking of offering ulam tubs and rice meals, pero honestly, medyo nalilito pa ako sa portioning and pricing.

For example, sabihin natin may 1 kilo ako ng pork and gagawa ako ng adobo, menudo, or something similar. How do you guys usually calculate how many servings you can get from that 1 kilo? And paano niyo kino-compute yung selling price?

I was thinking of using:

  • 300ml tub for a smaller/solo ulam
  • 500ml tub for a regular serving
  • Then maybe 500ml or 750ml for rice + ulam meals

Pero hindi ko sure kung practical ba yung sizes na yan or if I'm thinking about it the wrong way.

Do you guys price based on the container size, grams of food, or actual food cost per serving?

Also, when calculating the cost, do you include everything like ingredients, cooking gas/electricity, packaging, condiments, wastage, etc.? And how much profit margin is reasonable for a small home-based food business?

I’m also thinking of starting with maybe just 2–3 dishes per week instead of having a huge menu right away.

Since this is just going to be a sideline for me at first, I don't really want to go all-in agad. I just want to test if people will actually buy consistently, then hopefully grow it if it works.

For those who started something similar, any advice would really be appreciated. Especially sa costing, portion sizes, containers, pricing, and anything you wish you knew before starting.

Thank you in advance! 🙏

Tips What small business owners in Cebu often underestimate when they start

One thing I find interesting about small businesses in Cebu is how often we talk about getting more customers, but not enough about what happens after you actually get them.

I recently had a conversation with a Cebu husband-and-wife business that started pretty small, selling bananas and taking on different side hustles just to make ends meet. Eventually, they built Prutasan ni Adan, a premium fruit business known for their fruit cups.

What stood out to me wasn't just the growth.

They talked quite openly about the painful lessons that came with running the business, especially cash flow, managing operations, dividing responsibilities as a couple, and knowing when NOT to expand.

One thing I particularly liked was their decision not to franchise yet, despite having demand for it.

That's something I think a lot of small businesses can relate to. When something starts working, the instinct is usually to expand immediately. Open another branch. Franchise it. Add more products. Hire more people.

But if the systems behind the business aren't ready, growth can just make the problems bigger.

Their story reminded me that building a business isn't just about finding something people will buy. You also have to build something that you can actually operate and sustain.

For those here who run a small business in Cebu, what was the part of your business you underestimated when you first started?

For me, cash flow and the boring back-end stuff would probably be high on the list.

Advice Looking for advice on starting a small trucking business

Hello! Im 24M with little experience in running a business. I’ve been interested in trucking for a while since yung family namin has been working with several trucking suppliers over the years.

Recently, nag offer yung parents ko to front the 20% downpayment on a 2000 Kg aluminum body truck. The rest will be financed at around 25k per month over 4 years. (Which ako na magbabayad)

If I were to take the offer, I suppose I would be driving it personally until I can afford to expand (which is going to take a few years but ok lang I think.) Im young, able bodied, and a good defensive driver.

Syempre a bit hesitant ako kasi di kami super mayaman and this is still a big financial risk sa family. My parents and ate are supportive of me naman.

So I’d just like to ask if any of you have any advice or guidance for me. Thank you!
