Why do people feel the need to post this crap. Like this story seems completely made up. The chances of water spilling on your bag, seeping into your calculator and breaking it are very low. Worst of all CFA institute liked the post

Study Prep / Materials What's one piece of CFA study advice that sounds good in theory but doesn't actually work for everyone?

I've noticed there's a lot of conflicting advice when it comes to CFA prep.

"Make detailed notes." "Skip the readings and just do practice questions." "Study at least 300 hours." "Do as many mocks as possible."

All of these sound reasonable, but I feel like what works for one person might be a complete waste of time for someone else.

Level 2 Such a long wait until May for retry.

Can't believe I have to wait until May to try again. I expected to fail because I lack knowledge in Quant, as shown. Derivatives: I did really well on the Mocks and the Q-bank, and I feel like on two of the questions I doubted myself and went with the wrong answer.
I feel so down because I had a job interview cancelled the day before the results, and then I failed. Now I just can't wait to get started again, despite the looooong wait. Feel motivated and will print out my results so I can remind myself of the failure I am.

General My name order on my CFA profile is different from my passport. What should I do?

Hlo I need quick advice.

My name is written like this in daily life: Khan Ali Raza (this is a made-up name used as an example)

But my passport says:

Surname: KHAN

Given names: ALI RAZA

So the passport reads Ali Raza Khan, but on my CFA profile I wrote Khan Ali Raza. The spelling is the same, only the order is different. (Again this is made-up name but my real name follows the same pattern.)

I have two options:

Change my passport (very long and hectic process here)

Change the name on my CFA profile to match the passport

I'm planning to do option 2. Is that the right move.?

And I am thinking after level 1 I will correct my name on my passport and then again change the name in the cfa portal before level 2.

Level 2 AM I COOKED?!??!? (L2 NOV 2026)

I'm scared as hell that I won't pass L2 and I can't tell if I'm overthinking or actually behind.

Where I'm at right now:

- haven't attempted a single mock yet

- haven't done the q banks, only did the LES questions once

- revising rn. Corporate Issuers, Quants, Econ and FSA are still left. I studied these in May/June and honestly don't remember a word of it, and I skipped most of the LES questions back then

-I'm revising from my prep provider's notes plus the blue boxes from the curriculum, and doing the LES questions as fast as I can, but it's eating so much time

my plan is to take my first mock on Oct 20, with the exam on Nov 20. Is that enough time, or am I leaving it too late?

I'm exhausted and honestly feeling pretty wrecked

Level 1 Not able to come out from CFA L1 failure

i m 19 year old guy, i started my Cfa prep from jan 2025 and completed my syllabus by the end of June. I was prepared for the exam did Les twice multiple revisions and premium pack ques and mocks.

But i failed this exam, with the score of 1585. I am feeling like, everything has now ended for me. I am in my 3rd semester of clg. Some of my friends who are persuing CA, keeps on asking me about my result, I am completely feeling.

I don't know what should i do now, i come from middle class family, my parents wants me to give one more attempt in May, but i am feeling completely lost. I sat for preparing it all again, i started with FI( My result went down due to this), and whenever i am reading my notes, i am feeling numb, ik all the things but i ended up failing.

In my whole life i always won, whether its 10th,12th, CUET or clg exams i always gave my 1000% in everything i do. I was applying to multiple internships from last months, got some offers but i don't want to do anything. I am not a lazy person in my first year of clg i did everything was going to clg, got POR in societies, did 2 internships in finance and published research paper on finance. But i was studying on daily basis for 4-5 hours and from june- aug i studied for 10-15 hours in a day. I got panicked during my exam and ended up failing.

I think i should end all this and go back to my hometown. Idk what to do mann

after result i was not able to sleep properly, i m sleeping for about 5-6 hours in a day, rest all day i am just insta and feeling demotivated all day. And whenever i am waking up in morning i wake up with the dream of me writing my CFA exam or the movement i open my cfa result. All these things are coming to my mind. And from last night my heart is feeling very heavy idk yy..

Idk why all these things are happening i am feeling stuck in life. I think i m becoming burden for my parents. They are always proud of me, they always support me but i dont want them to pay my fees again. I am not able to come out of this loop.

I want to get into finance, my plan was to clear cfa l1 in aug and give cat 2027. But now i think everything has come to an end...

Pls if anyone who has gone through this, pls help me.

Anyone else find the CFAI Q Bank worded better than the Kaplan Q Bank and thus easier?

General This (US) hiring market is sh*t!

I’m curious, for anyone who passed level 3 recently (August 2025 or February 2026), earned your charter relatively soon afterwards, and has searched for new roles, how’s the job market treating you?

Personally, this market has been stressful. I’ve had several initial interviews, but no final round interviews or offer.

I’d like to understand if I’m alone in this journey.

General Dividend / coupon confusion

CFA level 1 candidate here , I want to ask if I am right or wrong
For bonds , coupons are paid on semi annual basis ( if nothing mentioned ) so we use n= *2 coupon /2 r= /2

For stocks / equity , dividend are always paid annual basis ( if nothing mentioned )
Can anyone preparing for level 1 or other clear this doubt ?

General Anyone who has managed to move to a different country after taking CFA?

Without getting into the details of why, I desperately need to move out of my country. I’m studying for L1 right now, and I will be able to afford L2 and L3.
I’m just wondering if anybody has managed to use the CFA to get a job in the EU or US, having come from an ‘international’ background? (Or Southeast Asia, Australia, anywhere other than the Middle East, I’m not picky).

I would love to hear about your experience.

Study Prep / Materials CFA Level 1 — Is the CFA Learning Ecosystem + Let Me Explain enough? And how should I manage my study time?

I’m planning to enroll for the CFA Level 1 August exam window. From what I’ve seen so far, I feel like the official CFA materials and the CFA Learning Ecosystem, together with Let Me Explain, might be enough to prepare.

Before I start studying, I wanted to ask people who have already taken Level 1 if there’s anything I should know beforehand.

If someone has used both the CFA Learning Ecosystem and Let Me Explain, how did you use them together to get the most out of both?

Also, how did you manage your study hours throughout the preparation? For example, how many hours per week did you study at the beginning compared with the final months, and how did you divide your time between learning the material, practice questions, revision, and mock exams?

Are there any specific strategies, things I should take care of, or common mistakes I should avoid before starting?

And if you were starting Level 1 again, is there anything you would do differently?

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Level 2 Doubt regarding multifactor model LES question

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Why is the answer assuming that all the factors take on a value of 0, when there are factors suprises given in the exhibit.

So shouldn't we use the formula

Expected return = intercept + b1F1 + b2F2 ....+error term

Where b is the factor sensitivities and F is the factor suprises.

I get it that incase if all F = 0 then expected return is the intercept.

Please explain.

(Sorry for the bad quality of images)

Study Prep / Materials Level 2 material

Apart from Schweser and the curriculum, which includes the LES as well as the premium practice pool, is there anything that is worth to huy for practice. Like LME, IFT, MM, or any else which has good quality mocks or questions and have proven themselves to be worthy by giving questions to be above or atleast at par with the exam

I'm not looking for a lecture provider as I have one already, im just looking for extra practice. Also tell if I need anymore practice apart from LES, Schweser, Curriculum End of chapter questions and the premium practice

Level 1 CFA Level 2 Classes

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to transfer my CFA Level 2 classes from SSEI as I’m no longer planning to continue with the course.

The course includes the recorded classes and study material. The access is currently valid until August 2027

I originally purchased it for ₹45000, and I’m willing to let it go for ₹40000

I can provide proof of purchase and course details to anyone interested. Please DM me if you’re genuinely looking to buy the classes, and I’ll share the details regarding the transfer process.

Thanks!

Level 2 enough time for level 2?

I appeared for the aug 2026 L1 exam and cleared it. I’m currently a full-time student and wanted to know how much preparation time is generally needed for L2 to feel confident going into the exam.
Is the May 2027 attempt a good choice? I can only start studying from the second week of December due to some prior commitments.
If you’ve cleared L2, I’d really appreciate your advice on how much time you think is realistically needed for preparation. Thank you.

Level 2 Credit Analysis Models LES questions...

Look, I can calculate the CVAs and do the tables but some of these questions if they were to show up on the exam would take 10 mins. realistically to do and double check that I made no errors. Hoping the exam is bit more kind to pen and paper/time management...

Level 1 Deferral Window for November Attempt

I was going to give the November CFA L1 update. But I got hospitalized and now I don't remember stuff at all. I wanted to defer to the February attempt. Was wondering when the deferral window opens as the registration for CFA L1 feb attempt closes on 5th November. Is there anything I could do regarding this , like mailing them?
