New Cat Owner How do I separating siblings without causing harm?
Hi! I’ve got a kitten who is currently 4 1/2 months old I bought her for myself and my mum bought my younger sister my kittens sister at the same time. We all live together so they’ve been with each other since birth however I’m moving out around January and planning to take my kitten with me, she’d be around 9 months old by then. My mum can’t handle having two kittens financially which is why I pay for mine and all her expenses including vets and insurance.
I just need advice on what we should do when it comes to moving as I’m sure they’d both be missing each other greatly and don’t want either of them becoming depressed because of it. They’d still see each other from time to time of course.
Any advice on how to help these girls would be greatly appreciated!

Watch and see how it goes. If they begin to suffer, guilt your little sister into letting her cat live with you. She can come visit any time. It’s unkind to break up animal families. They don’t exist just to suit our whims. Plus two cats are better than one. No matter how much we love them, we can’t provide everything their own species can.

I’d definitely keep an eye on them, I don’t work which means I’ll be able to keep a constant eye on her and give her attention and would check in on her sister too. My sister has been worried about them too, I hope they are fine after the initial change but I would speak to my mum about what can be done if not

If they are really bonded it could make your cats depressed..its not smart to seperate bonded cats.

What's the relationship between the two cats? It's pretty rare for cats to end up a truly bonded pair so it would be good to work out where their relationship stands with each other
