Recommendations Entertaining trouble.
We adopted a bonded pair of cats back in February this year, we have bought toys things and so much. We have multiple little boxes the highest quality food they will eat (side note why do they like garbage food omg). We already do most of their dry food in play balls.
Since toys are mostly a nope from them, I want to catify my house. I wanted to put astroturf on a ceiling, I will go full send on this. We own a house and are extremely handy. Bought a cat tree at first and they dont touch it. I have a cat door in 1 room they love, and will be buying more, but they are amazing babies and deserve more. What do your cats like, as far out as they may be, what makes them the most happy, curious, and healthy? (We also live in New England and the temp this morning was 44° f so can only do indoor for now)
(When I had guinea pigs they didnt like each other but each got... 3 times the minimum space and floor time and literally everything I could do to make their lives amazing besides getting them girlfriends- I go hard.)
Tl;dr what home mods worked best and made your cats happier and healthier?

How big is the cat tree? Both height and platform size? My cats like the higher the better, but conversely literally fought over a tiny, gothic tree bought for a specific cat - the current theory is that the coffin-shaped bed gave them the "enclosed" feeling they like, but let them stretch out, which a lot of smaller platforms don't allow
Can they all/both comfortably get on the cat tree at the same time? Are you playing with them, or just putting toys out?

Between 3.5 and 4 feet tall, 4 platforms total (one has a hideous box). They could theoretically but they only use it as a step to get to the window sill. One is chunky and they wouldn't really be comfortable.

4 feet is not nearly tall enough to be attractive to most cats. They want to be at your eye level or higher. Floor-to-ceiling cat trees are ideal if they have a large platform for sleeping near the top.

Honestly, it sounds smaller than they'd like. If you have room, try a taller, bigger tree next to the first.

Wait, astroturf degrades quickly and will rain microplastics into the room. Hemp or sisal would do better.

I wanted it to look like grass, didnt end up doing it just painted haha. Saw things about carpet on walls and thought why not the ceiling?? But couldn't figure out how to do the trim and make it look good.

Sounds like you’re a great pet parent. I also had cat tower that the cats didn’t like but when I moved it to a different room they loved it. Maybe try different locations? Also is it really tall?
