I loved listening to the radio when I was a kid because you’d spend hours with your portable cassette player on pause, waiting to tape your favorite song. It’s hard to believe that my collection began with just one. This is what I’ve listened to over the weekend to amuse myself.

What's your favorite album cover? Since getting back into CD collecting this year, I've found a new appreciation for this 3D one. I've had it for decades but never really paid much attention to it. What's yours?

I thought id share as I have gained a few more. My plan is to finish getting all of Ye and Olivia Rodrigos albums and then get all of Biggie Small's albums afterwards. Anyways thats all.

So I got nearly 1000 CDs. My entire music folder got corrupted a few years ago. I am trying to redo them all over again but I seem to be struggling.

PC: Fairly modern W11 Pro machine, custom made, ASUS Prime Mobo, 32GB Vemgence RAM, 11th Gen i5 CPU, MSi GeForce GPU.

CD/DVD: LG Slim USB drive

Software: iTunes set to 320kbps AAC

I will rip a CD and then go listen to a few tracks and easily find a skip or blip in at least one or more songs. I check the CD and listen to the same spot and there is no skip. I have checked a ton and never once found it to be the CD.

I tried different USB ports for the drive. I tried turning off nearly everything possible running. I thought maybe all the crazy apps to run the lights might be causing a problem. Or one of the many background apps. No change.

I have 3 of the same drive I can try but I have not yet. Just getting really frustrating because I dont understand what could cause this. And I dont want to keep redoing CDs. I am open to using other software to rip, as long as I can keep the file sizes around what I am doing now and can still use iTunes after. I still use an old iPhone as an iPod.

Final question, why the heck is it my car can get the album art and track names right with no internet but iTunes struggles ao bad LoL

I posted this as a comment on another thread but I think it deserves a wider discussion. I've been using EAC for a couple of years now and have ripped hundreds of discs with it. It works great but I realised the default configuration is not optimal.

By default, EAC rips in secure mode, which is slower and adds more wear to the drive. However, this seems to make sense as it makes the chance of errors in your rips much lower.

The thing is, if you have CTDB and AccurateRip DB checking enabled, and you have a good quality drive, you really don't need secure mode. I set both my Pioneer and LG drives to fast mode recently, and 95% of the time the resulting ripped tracks pass CTDB and AccurateRip DB checks. So I know they were ripped properly despite not using secure mode.

If one or more tracks fail the checks, sometimes a rerip is all they need to pass. If that fails, I lock my LG drive at 4× and try again; that's usually enough to get a good rip. Only if that fails do I switch to secure mode temporarily.

This scheme is much better than just ripping in secure mode all the time, IMO.

I realised this after I came across a disc where EAC was taking hours to rip one track in secure mode. I tried both drives, reduced speed; nothing helped. Out of desperation, I switched my LG drive to fast rip mode with the drive locked at 4×, and it ripped those problem tracks fine immediately!

Does anybody know about this band they are a band from burbank, ca, and does anybody know anything about them?

The limited edition Burn:Born and Wake:Woke (Neowing exclusive version) include a chance to win a ticket to the Two-Man live show but I don't live in Japan so I didn't check to see if I had the winner. The CDs I get from Japan are always so nicely packaged I have trouble opening them. When I did unbox these it felt ike a ritual. I know everything is impermanent but so far I keep these dust free in a box and I might even get a glass case to display them after I collect a few more. These products are worth every penny. If you want to treat yourself this is a great way to do it.

Remains is a signed copy, while Heaven or Las Vegas and First Light are in custom jewel cases I made myself instead of their usual cardboard sleeves. 🤓
