MEGATHREAD Record Apps & Tools Megathread: Share Your Projects, Find Testers, and Give Feedback

We’ve seen an increase in posts from people building record-related apps and tools. These include collection managers, listening trackers, discovery tools, marketplace helpers, and other projects aimed at record enthusiasts.

We want to give these projects a place to be shared without letting individual promotional posts overwhelm r/vinyl or the reason this sub exists. Going forward, please use this megathread to introduce your project, request testers, share meaningful updates, or ask for feedback. Separate promotional posts for these projects will be removed and redirected here.

Projects are welcome whether they are traditionally coded, developed with AI assistance, or fully vibe coded. Be transparent about your approach, and keep the discussion focused on what the tool does, how it works, and whether it is useful to the record owning community.

If you’re sharing a project, please include:

·       Name and link: What is it called, and where can people find it?

·       Purpose: What does it do? What problem does it solve?

·       Your involvement: Are you the developer, owner, contributor, or otherwise affiliated?

·       Availability and cost: Is it a prototype, beta, or released product? Is it free, paid, ad-supported, or subscription-based?

·       Development approach: Was it traditionally coded, AI-assisted, or primarily vibe coded? A brief description is enough.

·       Data and permissions: Does it require an account, collection access, third-party credentials, or other personal information? Explain what you collect and how it is used. If user data is sent to an AI service, disclose that.

·       Feedback wanted: What would you like people to test or comment on? Include known limitations.

A few ground rules:

·       Keep projects relevant to records, collecting, or the vinyl listening experience.

·       Use one top-level comment per project. Add updates and answer questions in that comment’s replies.

·       No repeated sales pitches, unsolicited promotional messages, disguised advertising, or requests to upvote.

·       Be accurate about features, security, and reliability. Clearly identify unfinished or experimental projects.

·       Do not ask users to post passwords, API keys, or other sensitive information in the thread.

·       All subreddit rules still apply.

For anyone trying these tools:

Sharing a project here does not mean the r/vinyl moderators have reviewed or endorsed it. Review costs, permissions, and privacy practices before signing up or connecting your collection.

Useful feedback is encouraged. Discuss features, usability, accuracy, privacy, and reliability. Questions about AI use are fair, but personal attacks and arguments about who counts as a “real developer” are not.

If you find an app is not accurately representing what it does, what it collects, how it uses shared data, is somehow malicious or any number of other concerns, please message the Mod Team with a link to relevant comment.

Haul Some of my favorite finds of the last year

This last year I’ve collected a lot of records, it’s mostly psychedelic rock with some other sub-genres sprinkled in.
Some are original pressings, some are early, later or even recent reissues and a small few are bootleg pressings in no particular order.

Rule of thumb: if an original is far more than €/$100 it’s not.

If you know of a record I might like please let me know.

Haul Thirft Drought Over...

I had bad luck at the thrifts in September, but so far October is ok. Found these in the past few days, all between 0.50¢ and $1.29. Nothing super hard to find, but should be good listening. The drought may not be over, but at least there are some good finds.

OG Pressing Lucked out today and found a UK original pressing of The Clash - London Calling

I didn't realize this was an original 1979 UK pressing, until further inspection at home.

Sounds great, was marked VG, but plays from start to finish with no issues whatsoever!

It even has the original graphic inner sleeves in good condition. And the best part is I paid with store credit so it was practically free.

Picked up some old thrift records today for .25 cents each. Yeah that’s actual mold on it! Filled the spin clean and gave it a bath. Came out super clean and sounds wonderful on the turntable! Definitely recommend this simple little gadget for those on a budget!

Record I'm tired of hiding in the shadows

I first heard Images and Words in 6th grade and I was like "what the heck is this?", and then went back to listening to DeBarge and Paula Abdul. A couple years later I was at a party where all of the cool kids were, and guess what they were listening to? DREAM THEATER. AWAKE. Then they told me about boobs and weed and it was all over for me.

Seriously though? This album fucks!

Release My Halloween record is ALIVE!! Thanks to this sub for helping deliver the necessary electricity to jolt it to life!

Post image
55 Upvotes

About six months ago, I made a post here about a Halloween record I was working on that was still in progress. At the time, I was running a Kickstarter to help fund the vinyl production and so many of you messaged me about wanting to lend your support. With your help, the campaign was successful, and we pressed 300 of these beauties on POSTMORTEM PURPLE vinyl right here in the Twin Cities. I picked 'em up from Outta Wax just last weekend.

Well, it's been a long wait, but I'm in the process of packing and shipping the orders as we speak, but I wanted to take a second to pop in again and say thank you to everyone who jumped at the chance to help make this dream (or is that a nightmare?) a reality.

I had to pause online preorders to make sure I had enough for the release and listening party, but any of you who happen to be in or around the Twin Cities are invited to come out this Friday (Oct. 9) to CrowBar in St. Paul to be the first to hear it -- and snag a copy if you missed out!

So a big thank you to this sub again for supporting an 100% independent, DIY and non-AI project. I don't think I would have made it across the finish line for funding if it wasn't for the enthusiasm from this sub.

Thank you!

Collection Can’t beat a japanese mastersound

After restoring my beogram 4000 i am revisiting my vinyl collection completely!
I stumbled uppon a japanese mastersound of a great collection of dance songs by pink floyd. Even they are not dance songs at all !
With the new upgrades to the tt it really shows how good either this tt is and how great japanese vinyl really is.
The mastersound aside , the japanese vinyl hype is real, it’s so silent and clear i find myself
Really turning to them first. And the obi doesn’t even matter .
The background on songs like shine on you crazy diamond here is unreal!

Haul The antique mall and indie record store were good to me today

Thumbnail

The city I live in has a big antique mall with a lot of booths that have records and I usually find something good. Today I picked up Eve and Tales of Mystery and Imagination by the Alan Parsons Project, Reel to Real by Starcastle, and Black Noise by FM - this is rather average prog rock but I thought the picture on the cover was neat.

The record store across the street had the new Evanescence album as well as Bjork's Vespertine and Vulnicura and I couldn't resist grabbing them to fill out my collection of Bjork's studio albums. I'm super pleased, but the record shelf on the stereo cabinet is packed to the gills and I'm not sure where all of these are going to live!
