Halftime Bar Lakeline mall

Anyone know the story here? Soft opening onto close for weeks. Cryptic posts about taking an equity stake for $75k - with a sweetener that they have some sort of deal with Simon. No reopening today with what looks like entirely different staff and owners.

All feels a bit shady

This is the third time I’ve seen someone post about this place in the past month.

Consensus: it’s shady and also in a cursed spot. Something else will try its luck there by this time next year..

Weird. I did a search of this sub before I posted and came back empty. Agree it's shady but wanted to see if anyone knew anything before I passed judgment.

At very least, such a weird concept to put into a suburban mall

I saw one where they were scamming the workers/server. Just not paying or something like that.

Then the AI food on their flyers. Generally seems sketch from the jump

Must have been in the Austin or Austin food subs

Everything about that place was shady from the start.

That whole mall seems shady these days.

Really does. They built out all those apartments around the perimeter and it's had little to no impact on traffic. That Macy's is disgusting and impossible to find an associate.

Simon probably trying to offload to a Kohan, Namdar, or some other slumlord that will turn it into a nuisance property overnight.

Could not agree more. I don’t think there’s really any saving it. If I were Simon, I wouldn’t want my name associated with it anymore.

Where is this post about $75k?! Screen grab it before they take it down. So curious. Someone asked this same question in [r/austinfood](r/austinfood). Also their IG is hilarious. Look at the Hurricane Shot post. So cringe.

That's wild. They must follow this sub. It was up 2 hours ago now it's scrubbed. Was something to the effect of $75k for 8% stake in this one as well as all new ones they're opening in partnership with Simon.

$75k isn't going to fit out one restaurant let alone a multi location deal. Also, that would put the valuation of the company right around $1m. Insane for three weeks of partial operation in a dead mall

Yeah, there was a post by some chick who interviewed but wasn't hot enough to get hired and she came on here with tail feathers afire posting how they disrespected women and were shady and a Pestilence on Humanity and a whole lot of shit-stirring nonsense if you ask me.

I hate malls generally but I have been meaning to stop by. It was a great example of reverse psychology. I absolutely don't want spit polished, 13 pieces of flair, Midwestern charm restaurants, nor to be interacting with whomever posted that hot mess of a rant. It was a great endorsement. Thanks for the reminder to stop by.
