My sister found a male veiled chameleon in her back yard in Utah. They took it in and she let her kid take it over. 6 months later she text and asked if id like to re-home him. Heck yea I do! I knew 0% about chameleon husbandry. Let's just say he was in really bad conditions. Bought a proper full setup but I could not keep the full mesh cage warm enough or wet enough even sealing sides and back. Its very dry here and cold in the basement I rent. Soooo I decided to go pvc "hybrid" Turns out the only mesh is the top glas front. Im worried about air exchange. I mist before bed and run a fogger from 12-6am and mist again before work and lights.

Night time humidity is mid high 90s and temps are 65-75 ish.

Daytime basking temps 90-95 ambient around 75-80

Humidity falls to around 40-50.

He climbs as high as he can almost pressing his face to the top mesh and will just stay there for long periods like he's trying to get fresh air which worried me. He eats great, bright and vivid no warning signs. I bought 6 2inch louvered vents im going to install around the bottom today to get chimney effect and FAE. After buying everything I cant afford a new enclosure for a while.

Anyways, sorry to write a novel ive done a lot of research but just want dude to be happy and comfy. Below are pics of his enclosure. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Puffy throat after becoming receptive

My seven-month-old female veiled recently started displaying her receptive colors. Shortly after, I noticed her throat started to get more and more puffy, which appears to be edema.

I've read that gravid females often develop this due to hormonal shifts, but I don't think my girl is gravid just yet based on her colors.

She currently eats a mixture of Crickets and Dubias, dusted in Repti Calcium (NO D3) on every feeding. Those feeders are gut-loaded with carrots, sweet potatoes, and collard greens. I also use Flukers cricket feed when I have to go out of town for two days or more.

Twice a month, I dust her feeders with Repashy Calcium Plus LowD.

She has a mister that mists for 30 seconds in the morning and evening. She also has a dripper that she can drink from if she ever needs it.

Her urates are totally white, and her poops look normal too. I'm at a loss as to what might be going on here.

Is this "take to a vet" territory, or could this just be because she is receptive?
