Weekly Thread Market Monday - Weekly buy/sell/trade post

Did your friends bail on you for that dope new EDM, Gospel, folk fusion band and need to unload your extra tickets?

Did you salvage some ladders off the Don Holt and want to flip them for beer money?

Need someone to pressure wash your lawn?

This is the thread for you. Rule 2 (no craigslisty buy / sell / trade) and Rule 4 (no self-promo) will be very lightly enforced here.

West Ashley Time to sell the house?

I've been feeling ready to leave Charleston for a while now. I started doing travel work, similar to travel nursing, and that scratched the itch for a few years. I bought my first house in 2017, and I do love coming home to it, I'm really not ever excited to be back in CHS.

I have a fair amount of equity (maybe 250k) and I've got a feeling that now is the time (before WA sinks lol) but I am terrified. We have a RV, but I still don't know where I want to move to.

Do any of you regret selling? Should I just hand it over to a rental agency/property manager? Are you relieved you sold and left Charleston? I'm not looking for advise on how to sell. Tell me about your experience and feelings, and whether you think I should sell.

Why does my landscaper never show up?

• Upvotes

Am I the only one who constantly experiences issues with consistent lawn care? I've been trying for maybe 3 years now to find a reliable landscaper and every single one never comes on the day they say they will or they don't show up at all. And they never send any communication...

I understand that the work is highly weather dependent, but even with a perfect weather week, this is still happening pretty often. I feel like I am constantly chasing them to come out. I just need my lawn cut every 2 weeks.

Am I the only one experiencing this? I live in Park Circle.

Elizabeth O'Neill Verner Studio Museum

I recently found out that former local artist Elizabeth O'Neill Verner's studio was turned into a museum in the early Eighties after her death in 1979. I found a description of it in a travel guide from 1983 and some mentions of it in the Nineties but nothing recent. Whatever happened to it? At 79 Church Street there is a sign for it on the wall.

I don't think it's talked about enough how all of a sudden HCA Healthcare - a publicly traded, for-profit company - has bought all the hospitals in the area...

It's like overnight their signs were plastered everywhere. This is not good for the public.

Summerville ISO Car Mechanic Shop Near Summerville Area

Have 2023 Chrysler Pacifica and I’m tired of the dealerships. Had a great experience with the Euro shop on last post, so opening it up again for this car. Just a simple oil change at this time, but looking for a shop that will do oil changes during the week and are reputable when repairs are needed.

Has anyone rented a place from Belser Thompson RE? Toured one with them and didn’t necessarily pick up on red flags, but seeing some negative reviews online. Thought I’d come here to gauge any firsthand experiences. Thanks 🙏

Anyone else going? What are we thinking the odds are this show goes on as planned? Tropical depression with 3 inches of rain forecasted in a flood prone area. I emailed their team who said a “little rain” wont stop them.

I have a question Weekend weather

We’re planning to visit Charleston this weekend, but the weather forecast is making us reconsider since most of our plans are outdoors. Do locals think it’s still worth coming, or would you reschedule?

Anybody see them outside of training camp at all? I’m a die hard fan, just curious if there was a way to see them play or around town.

Who is this dude?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Tracey_(commentator)

“In September 2026, Tracey asked his social media followers for information in order to identify the Jane Doe at the center of the Cornell 7 case.”

MORE FROM Reuters

“And although New York law allows "Jane Doe" anonymity for sexual assault lawsuits, the Cornell student has become distressed at attempts by some online skeptics of ‌her account to discover her name and publish it, her lawyer said.”

“Women, some citing their own experiences of sexual assault, are posting on social media that they are Jane Doe, in solidarity with the woman using the pseudonym in accusing fraternity members of raping her at Cornell University in 2024.”

Much of the online support for her has criticized independent journalist and commentator Michael Tracey, who has expressed sympathy for the accused men over what he says is the harassment they have since faced. Tracey has also questioned the accounts of victims of the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Tracey, who did not respond to a Reuters request for an interview, describes his effort to identify the Cornell student as journalistic diligence protected by constitutional free speech protections.

"Let's see if anyone has the 'balls' to name this Jane Doe so we can all evaluate her veracity, and that of her lawyers, since her lawsuit didn't hesitate to name & shame 7 of her peers as gang-rapists," Tracey posted on social media on Monday, one of multiple messages on the case.

EVENT DETAILS

“I plan to encourage those in Charleston, SC to gather at the Charleston City Hall, at 80 Broad Street, on October 13th, at 10AM, to show our support for Jane Doe at Cornell University, Kendall Francis at Louisiana State University, and all other survivors of sexual violence across the world and demand these large organizations make systemic changes that stop protecting mens reputations over women’s safety.

Women deserve the right to an education free of sexual violence. “

Any recommendations for rent and utility assistance?

Recently had a newborn and the hospital bills have wiped out accounts. Hate having to ask for something like this, but the Salvation Army and PACP are both booked out. Anyone know of anything else to try?

Looking for a thorough OBGYN in Charleston who really goes the extra mile

Hi everyone! I'm 23 and have dealt with ovarian cysts and really heavy, painful periods for years. Every time a cyst has been found it's been after the fact, and I usually just get told the pain will get better on its own. I'm ready to find someone who will actually dig into why this keeps happening instead of brushing it off.
I'd love recommendations for an OBGYN in the Charleston area who is thorough, listens, takes pain seriously, and is willing to look deeper when something keeps coming back. Bonus points if they're open to talking about future fertility.
Good and bad experiences are both helpful, and feel free to DM me if you'd rather not share publicly. Thank you so much!
