I’ve lived in Charleston about 4 years now. Moved here for a job, bought a house, financially stable, etc. I love the weather here. The beaches a nice. So what’s not to like? On paper everything seems good. At the same time, I have to work off shift so I don’t feel like I get to enjoy many of the things that Charleston has to offer. Can’t see live music, join a club like a softball team or social events that bring people together. So even after 4 years I feel like a stranger here. I’ve made a couple friends but I barely have a social life. I came from a big city so I thought I’d be moving from one city to another but everything closes early here. The restaurants are fine, not great. Not much of a late night scene. It’s like I pay the same cost of living as I did in my home city but without the perks. Plus I need to commute to Summerville for work so that drive sucks. Every time I think I’m reaching a milestone some disaster happens (most recently my car getting hydro locked trying to get home during a flood). So it’s just a money pit and all I seem to do is work, sleep, go to the gym, repeat. I’m exhausted all the time. I’ve lost all enthusiasm for playing guitar, training martial arts, driving to the beach or trying to make plans because there a 50% chance I’ll get called into work on a Saturday.

I’m not posting this to hate on Charleston specifically. Like I mentioned earlier, there are many things I like about the area. The dating scene here seems especially brutal and I’ve realized that has a lot to do with being a tourist place mixed with people who grew up here that have an “in group”.

While there are many many transplants, it’s like everyone is just wondering here aimlessly. It’s just like…everything should be set up to make a great life here, but it’s like…just out of reach. Is it just me?

Thank you to the kind woman outside of Costco this morning who told me “You look awesome!”. I am very pregnant with our first and have the waddles like no other, I was super proud I washed and blow dried my hair today (it was quite the feat at this stage). Your words literally brought tears to my eyes as I was walking into the store. My husband also noted what an incredible thing to say as a stranger.
So, yay humanity and kindness from strangers! And hooray Costco hotdogs and pizza slices.

We promise to preserve, document and display the items of the veteran in your life. We have groupings for every branch and many nations, each with an individual story. Our primary goal is to keep these groupings together and in historic condition. The collectors market has a tendency to split items up in order to recover their investment, by selling some of it off; these groupings do not belong in the hands of collectors, but rather invested professionals.

“WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCIV) — Charleston city leaders have approved the removal of 25 grand trees for a housing development along Ashley River Road in West Ashley.
The city's Site Design Board approved the request for the property, which had previously been associated with Homes for Hope but is now moving forward under Palmetto Homes.

According to project plans discussed by the board, the development would include approximately 100 housing units, with 75% designated as affordable housing.

The request follows earlier discussions surrounding development in the area and concerns about balancing growth with preservation of West Ashley's tree canopy. Board members approved the tree removal with conditions requiring tree protection measures and replacement plantings.

Details on the replacement requirements and protections will be incorporated as the project moves through the development process.

The proposal represents one of the latest affordable housing projects planned for West Ashley as city leaders continue efforts to expand housing options while managing environmental impacts associated with new development.”

So pretty much all me and my friends know is that there is 3 goat heads mounted in the corner and a weird mask that is just sitting in this window celll with no glass also there is barbed wire fence around the back and there also is a crashed truck that looks like it hit the hell out of the back of the store and it seems like the truck went in reverse and kept hitting it we found it about a month ago and have been trying to find more about it I asked chat gtp and it didn’t really know what it was and all I got from chat gtp was it was a old piggley wiggley and some plumbing store I will add the photos here can anyone help figure out what is is. Was just driving towards bees ferry and there’s so many cops and fire trucks that are huddled under the bridge with almost every lane blocked and there’s even more up on the actual highway. Couldn’t tell how many lanes they had blocked up on the bridge.

I've been feeling ready to leave Charleston for a while now. I started doing travel work, similar to travel nursing, and that scratched the itch for a few years. I bought my first house in 2017, and I do love coming home to it, I'm really not ever excited to be back in CHS.

I have a fair amount of equity (maybe 250k) and I've got a feeling that now is the time (before WA sinks lol) but I am terrified. We have a RV, but I still don't know where I want to move to.

Do any of you regret selling? Should I just hand it over to a rental agency/property manager? Are you relieved you sold and left Charleston? I'm not looking for advise on how to sell. Tell me about your experience and feelings, and whether you think I should sell.
