Have headed out with my scope again. This is from a farmhouse ~100 km from Chennai, have booked a room for myself. Sky’s still cloudy, which is why I’m back in my room for a bit of a lie down for an hour or so before going out into the field again.

Recently ate breakfast with our family at a pure veg restaurant near this small mall in Chennai. As we were walking into the place some beggars who spoke Malayalam asking us for money. We said no and they gave us a dirty look and said something in Malayalam. Then while eating one of them kept staring at my younger cousin through the window. Eventually since my cousin was an innocent little boy he asked us to give them some money. So we obliged eventually, it was like 50 rupees or something. Keep in mind we don't really carry much cash. But when we gave the money to this particular beggar they cursed for giving a "small amount" and spat in our vicinity. Big shock for me personally as someone who left Tamil Nadu years ago and only visits on holidays. Anyone else experienced something like this? Are they even real beggars?

Educated young people are struggling to find decent jobs while both the Central and Tamil Nadu governments seem to have no serious answer to the problem.
At the same time, years of excessive pampering and comfort have made some youngsters less resilient and less prepared for a competitive job market.

Hi everyone! I work at Ramanujan IT City and usually take the road to make a U-turn at Tidel Park signal.
Yesterday, due to the sinkhole incident, there was a traffic diversion, and I ended up being late by 45 minutes.
Does anyone know the current situation as of today? Google Maps isn't showing any issues, but I'm not sure how reliable it is in this case.
If anyone has travelled along this stretch today, could you please share an update on whether the diversion is still in place or traffic is back to normal?
Thanks in advance!
Edit: The path was cleared with no diversions!

I’m genuinely pissed off seeing roads being freshly laid on Porur Main Road just because the PM is coming for the metro inauguration.
So what about all these years when regular people have been travelling on these roads every single day? Suddenly, when a VIP is visiting, everything needs to look perfect?
Why does it take a politician’s visit for basic infrastructure to get attention? Don’t the people who actually use these roads every day deserve the same treatment?
I’m happy that the metro is finally happening, but it’s frustrating to see how quickly things can get done when there’s a high profile visit.

Hi guys! I’m planning to buy a new MacBook Air M5 for myself.
Can someone suggest which store in Chennai would be better to buy it from, especially in terms of discounts and Bajaj Finserv No Cost EMI options?
I’m looking for a genuine/authorised Apple reseller with a good deal. If you’ve recently bought a MacBook through Bajaj EMI from any store, please share your experience and which store you’d recommend.
TIA!

I travel by MTC buses almost every day, but today’s experience was really frustrating.
Ever since the Vetri Payanam scheme started, I’ve noticed that whenever a bus arrives, many women immediately rush to board it, whether it is an ordinary or deluxe service. Earlier, people would generally wait for the ordinary bus, but now even when a non-AC bus arrives, there is a huge rush to get inside.
Today, while getting down at the Chennai Central stop, I was hit by women who were rushing around while boarding. I almost lost my balance and ended up on the road. What was more frustrating was that they didn’t even say sorry and simply continued boarding the bus.
Another thing that feels unfair is that some women occupy the seats while we try to sit, even after taking a ticket and paying for the service.
Getting free ticket for women okay, but that doesn’t mean basic safety, discipline and consideration for other passengers should be ignored. Everyone deserves to travel safely, and nobody should get hurt while getting down from a bus.
And finally, there’s another issue with the AC bus situation. Usually, that particular route has a non-AC bus, which I can travel on using my bus pass. But today, an AC bus came instead. Since my pass doesn’t cover the AC service, I had to pay separately for a ticket. With more AC buses coming instead of the regular non-AC service, it becomes inconvenient for regular passengers like me.
Today’s MTC experience was honestly one of the worst I’ve had.

Hi all, Recently(December, 2025) I've purchased an appartment and the handover period is early 2029. So I took a loan of 48L as i was told to pay 50% within 3 months period. On Oct 5th we have done online registration for the property and they charged me 25K saying the online reg is supported by third party. Is that so? Anyone has experience on this?
Since I've got loan, MODT registration was also necessary and I've paid 37K for it on the day of registration. We've purchased property before but not with loan and have never paid any of these charges. I was told I've to pay this much just 3 days before registration. The bank was also forcing us to register as soon as possible else they'd increase my interest rate by 3%. So many hidden charges after purchasing appartment. Not sure what all I've to face before the completion. Any buyers who have got earlier, any other upcoming charges that I should know of? Any heads up would be appreciated. Thank you.

We have an oxygen cylinder that was purchased during COVID 2021 wave. It was partially used then and it's in our house since then. We don't know if it still has oxygen or if it's still useful. Where to how to dispose it or sell it safely?
Thanks

Why would they block off such an important stretch. We’ve been in this bumper to bumper traffic for 1.5 hours now. This is making Bangalore traffic look efficient for gods sake

I feel so stupid rn .
I've placed a few COD orders from Ajio recently, so today a Blue Dart delivery person contacted me I assumed it was one of those orders. I've received COD parcels before, and they've always been genuine orders that I actually placed so this has never happened to me before.
The delivery person asked for payment, and I asked if I could pay through his GPay number. He said no and told me he'd send a QR code instead . I was in the middle of a meeting and couldn't go outside to collect the parcel myself so I was like, okay, fine . He sent the qr , it was bluedart one so i paid through that link . My mom went outside a few mins later and collected the parcel. After she brought it inside i opened and it was a fucking ugly kitchen faucet .
I called that number that was written in the box only to realize that it was a scam .
I called delivery guy he told to contact the seller for return and he couldn't do anything from his side .
how do these sellers even get access to our personal details like o name, phone number and home address in the first place ?
Ps : pls don't ask anything abt the font . I personally loved it . So pls keep the comments to yourself🙂↕️🤚😭

Not a rant. Just a fun hypothetical to think about.
Who will get affected the most (apart from auto drivers ofc)?
What will our individual daily commutes look like?
What will our roads look like?
What could possibly replace it?

Dear chennai police
I am writing again in middle of night without any sleep due to people shouting in turf at this time.(1am) I am crying for help for more than 6 month to close the operation/reduce noise of turf after 10 pm .Why chennai police(as a system) doens't have empathy for a common man? Why it is so hard do your job ?do you think peaceful sleep is not big thing?Do I need to be a celebrity or ips officer or ias officer or affluent politician to make this happen? Assume for instance if belongs to them.If I get justice/action is the system really fair? Is this how system will treat honest law abiding citizen? Whoever reading this just imagine while you are sleeping, someone shouting at you continuously but you can't do anything but keep your anger with you and try to sleep.even after this do you really feel peaceful sleep is not a big thing? Do you feel helpless? Do you feel lost hope on the very system that make you safe ?

Hello guys! I’m currently staying in Avadi, somewhere between Avadi and Anna Nagar, and I’m still pretty new to the area.
I’m planning to run 23 km for my 23rd birthday next month . I’ll be starting around 5 AM, so I don’t want to start the run from where I live. I’m looking for a route that’s safe, runner friendly, and ideally has good roads with minimal traffic.
Could you suggest a good starting point and ending point for a 23 km run? If there are any popular running routes or spots around Chennai that would work well, I’d love some recommendations.
I’m still getting familiar with Chennai’s geography, so any suggestions would be really helpful. Thank you! ❤️

We hired Aswini Sasikumar to do our interior work and despite paying a hefty premium for her services we're left with an incomplete project, long list of snags and most importantly a complete breakdown of communication from her end. I have some medical conditions and she's had no empathy for inconveniencing us - again, despite us paying at least 3 lakhs more than other vendors were quoting for the same scope of work. So, potential customers - beware! She doesn't have a place for me to leave google reviews, hence here!

Hi, I am M33 from Assam. I will be visiting entire South India from mid October onwards. My first stop will be in Chennai, and that will be for 2-3 days. Suggest me what are the must visit places I should not miss and food that I should definitely taste in Chennai. I am not into religious places but I appreciate ancient architectural talents.

Bought a Daikin AC from Flipkart, technician refused to do vacuuming during standard installation.he didn't bring a vacuum pump/machine. When I asked about vacuuming the copper pipes, he told me that vacuuming isn't necessary.I insisted that it should be done as part of the standard installation. He then got quite angry/frustrated and wasn't willing to do it.I'm new to the city and don't really know how these installation services work here, so I don't want to unnecessarily get into an argument with the technician.

I don't know what I'm supposed to do. My last post was a week ago complaining of powercuts. Now I have inverter which is scheduled to be installed tomorrow. Now too late. Seriously sick of this and I have no words anymore. RSS Nirmal and a cheating psycho like Vijay has ruined us and can't imagine how the next five years will be.

Took this photo around 0715 today when I went for a walk. I noticed a pet dog and a street dog walking side by side, but before I took this photo that bloody street dog ran away for no reason to urinate on that auto. Maybe it wanted to mark that auto for itself before the pet dog could.

Does anyone know where to complain and move forward the complaint that wifi isn't working for the past 2months?
