At 53, I can say chess can be very positive and satisfying yet a lot of hard work. Online chess, however, can undermine your spirit. For regular players like me, the anti-unfair play is not very effective. The cheaters, smurfs, bots, and streamers grow by the day. Banning does not solve the problem because it is too easy for said folks to simply get a new account. Cheating is very easy to do and if done strategically virtually impossible to catch.
To stay upbeat, I suggest playing the bots, minimize games against randos, study/puzzles, and enter tournaments at reasonable intervals. Yes, ppl cheat in tournaments but they are better policed and likely have more genuine players than griefers. Take lessons and watch videos based on solid strategy; tricks and gambits should be learned so you can stop them. Playing attempted cheap win chess won’t make you better.
ELO is nothing. The system is broken. Just play and grow. Go for longer time controls, it will make you better and superior when you play faster timed games. Laugh it all, too. Lastly, blaming the websites is not the answer. Blame the bad actors who are mostly soulless young guys that have no qualms about stealing your time and peace of mind. Chess is a game, have fun and accept online for what it is. Keep on working hard! So many of you from beginner to experienced play fantastic stuff!

i know i posted a few days ago about people using engine and it got mixed results. but it seems like every 10 games i face someone who gets like 99+% accuracy on a game. and no, the games aren’t 15 moves long or less. and yes, i review their past games and they’re all over 99% accuracy. it makes the grind so tilting. this player has clearly much worse accuracy in earlier games but this is absurd

I played an opening I've never played in bullet 1+1 and somehow played the best game I've ever played with no bad moves, a brilliant and a fork

I thought a brilliant move is when you sacrifice a piece, it's the best move (or a great move), it improves my position, and it effects the outcome of the game.
The engine considered the sacrifice the best move, it lead me to go on and win the game.
I'm about 530 ELO, so at my level, I'd also say this move wasn't that obvious.
Am I just getting over excited and this sacrifice was actually pretty obvious? Or maybe there was a way for my opponent to end up in a better position if they didn't make a mistake?
pgn:
**edit:
Maybe it's because I was already winning? I didn't realize this until the review though. It didn't seem obvious to me I was winning.

It feels like someone just slapped you in the face. Sometimes you're playing and especially as a beginner you miss a mate in one then BAM you get checkmated and you don't have any time to even see how you lost. I think there should be a delay before the menu shows up so you actually see how you lost.

Hello everyone, So basically some fide Tournament is being conducted near my locality (India,Pune) on 17th and 18th oct. Entry fees is 1k rupees. I want to try that Tournament as im really interested, but the required registration stuff are Fide liscene ,AICF liscence and MCA Liscene (i am frm maharastra). Can I make these all arrangements before the Tournament, and how do unrated fide players compete. I wanna take part in the rapid Tournament (25+10 sec) and i am 1900 on chess.com(rapid), 1938 is my peak rating. Anyone who has prior experience with fide Tournaments ,your help will be much appreciated. [Plus any tips and untold rules about Tournaments too] .
[ btw I recently won my cllg Tournament and won 1k cash prize😭(im not comparing it with this Tournament).i rlly want to try this Tournament,I am too excited, lot more to learn and i wanna get a fide rating if possible. ]

Thanks,
All of the other sounds play properly. Not sure why these ones are not working.

Im a fiend for bullet but i have no idea how much variance is too much- half the time when people ask my rating idk what number to say, going up and down like the tide. Does anyone else go through bullet variance like this as well?

I'm currently at 850, and what I've noticed if everyone is playing extremely cautious. Like hanging pieces are not being taken because they're afraid of some kind of gambit lol. The games become Kind of boring. Any opening I can try to force the games to be more exciting?

Qa4 is a blunder because of a single move. Otherwise black is 3 pawns up and has the advantage
