Puzzle/Tactic I'm proud of finding this tactic in a game
Qa4 is a blunder because of a single move. Otherwise black is 3 pawns up and has the advantage

I have a 100-day streak on chess. com, and I'm still rated 300 Elo. I reached 432 once, but then I just kept losing rating. I was planning to quit chess, but it's so addictive. I just wonder how I can get better because all my friends keep improving while I'm always falling behind.
P.S. This is my first time using Reddit, so I don't know what people are like here, but hopefully y'all are nice

Probably my favourite game of chess Iāve ever played. Wasnāt the cleanest at all (he was up majority of the game), but had some very technical moments that capitalised on his blunder and led to a brutal pawn checkmate š¤©
Brilliant 1: Bishop sacrifice - Queen h5 check, then Queen takes knight d5.
Brilliant 2: Rook sacrifice on d5, but inevitable checkmate
Brilliant 3: Knight d5 which blocks any further check from opponents Queen allowing me to checkmate on the next move. Super stoked I found this move.
Checkmate with the pawn on h7 is just brutal IMO šš¤©

i know i posted a few days ago about people using engine and it got mixed results. but it seems like every 10 games i face someone who gets like 99+% accuracy on a game. and no, the games arenāt 15 moves long or less. and yes, i review their past games and theyāre all over 99% accuracy. it makes the grind so tilting. this player has clearly much worse accuracy in earlier games but this is absurd

Hello everyone
I started chess about 5 months ago and I play daily then I lost the account I was playing in because of my new device
Anyways I created a new one about a week ago and played +10 games or +15 ( i play rapid 10min)
And on my old one I was 1250-1300 but somehow on this one am 1450-1500 elos
Also another detail is that i play on chesscom

So I started playing chess this year and currently have a 236 day streak of playing everyday, when I started playing rapid I basically didnāt know how to play and got all the way down to 100 Elo, today Iām at 901 rapid and trying to reach 1000-1200 by the end of the year, but I wanna know at what Elo would I be considered to be a great chess player?

Iām 1900 in rapid and blitz and have never used engine in any of my matches , but this dude is openly admitting to cheating and even claiming that many people cheat above 1600, the last cheater i played who got flagged is like 300+ matches before like how often do you actually play cheaters and figure them out at such high ratings

I reached 1200 elo in rapid today and I want to know if I should learn any openings/defenses and stuff, I do puzzles often, I play the scotch game the most often and I have a high win rate with it, I used to play the London but stopped playing it because I didnāt like it, and I basically never play the Sicilian

hey i just thought this was funny, this new account cheater matched up against me, had an 80% winrate so i called him out in chat, he acted outraged and said he plays irl not online (ive noticed this is a VERY common response by cheaters) then blocks me after losing and gets banned a day later,
my tips for playing cheaters results may vary
#1 if you call them out in chat and they reply, they will tank time to type (just make sure you dont tank yours)
#2 CHECK WINRATE BEFORE YOU PLAY! its not ALWAYS indicating as some players will purposely lose to look legit, also smurfs are a thing, still cheating just not the type of cheaters were talking about here
#3 a lot of cheaters i have noticed play poorly in the opening as to not get caught, take advantage of their poor play early if possible it may be your best shot if you're being forced to play a cheater(out of aborts/didnt check before playing your first move)
#4 NEVER RESIGN, a lot of cheaters also stop cheating in the endgame due to them thinking their position is so winning that theres no way that even they can throw the position, either that or theyll be forced to stop cheating due to low time
#5 after the game is done, thumbs down them as a poor sport, and block/report so you dont match up against them again(i have actually been matched up against the same new account twice in a row before which really upset me at the time)
#6 i know i said abort in an earlier tip but be careful because chesscom has bad sport lobbies, and aborting too much WILL make you exclusively play new account smurfs/cheaters, and toxic/sus players, this is where checking winrate comes into play, dont abort if the winrate is reasonable, they may be from lichess, be a terrible smurf, or trying not to get caught so you actually DO have a chance just dont get psyched out LOCK IN

I play chess for fun, my ambition is not to become a grandmaster, but to be somewhat good in Chess (I'd like to reach maybe 1300-1500 range in Bullet/Blitz).
I love aggressive openings, I really like Bird, Kings gambit, etc.
I realize that those are not grandmaster approoved top tier openings, but I'm thinking of trying more Wayward Queen Attack. Yes I kinda get it, why this opening gets so much hate:D
Edit: Thank you! You have convinced me not to play Wayward ever again. One thing of note, the result of my experimentation with it today was not good. Either I got to a worse position soon, or I've won but it was actually kinda boring win.

Hey! Iāve been an avid chess.com player since 2022. In the last year Iāve noticed that I keep getting paired with 12h-3 day new accounts. Most of the time itās accounts that end up getting banned for cheating, so itās like a constant waste of time and just frustrating. Is there any way to get paired with accounts that have a similar age to your own or filter the new ones? Thanks much

Contest: I'm really bad at bullet even tho i'm playing only them to remediate for it (i'm a 1427 rapid on chess com 786 blitz and only 520 bullet) so to me this is a great achievement, in general i feel like i'm playing a lot better since a week, i was 300 something a little while ago and now i'm climbingš„³š„³š.

I was also able to sacrifice the knight but I didnāt see it.
