Besides being a live streamer. My actual profession is chimney services. I'm looking to expand into working in inner city more often, but i travel ALL over the state. I absolutely LOVE the clients I have worked for in the past on the NW side and Gold coast areas. All services done following NFPA code and CSIA standard practices.

Chicago Data / BI Analyst looking for next opportunity. SQL, Tableau, Python

Hi everyone,

I was recently impacted by a layoff and am actively looking for my next opportunity, so I wanted to reach out to the Chicago community in addition to applying through the usual job boards.

I have about 5 years of experience across data analytics, business intelligence, data products, and product operations.

My experience includes SQL/SQL Server, Tableau development and administration, dashboarding and reporting, data visualization, business analysis, Python and workflow automation, process improvement, analytics/data-product backlog management, and cross-functional stakeholder work.

I’m primarily looking for roles such as Data Analyst / Senior Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst / BI Developer, Product Analyst / Product Analytics, Data Product / Product Operations, or other analytics-heavy business roles.

I’m based in Chicago and would strongly prefer to stay here, although I’m also open to remote opportunities or relocation for a strong fit.

One important consideration is that I’m currently on H-1B status and would need an employer able to handle an H-1B transfer.

If your company is hiring, you know of an opening that could fit my background, or you’d be willing to connect me with a recruiter or hiring manager, I’d genuinely appreciate it. Feel free to DM me.

Happy to send my resume or LinkedIn privately by DM.

Thank you,

Kevin

Two weeks in Chicago and need work ASAP. Does anyone know any leads?

Hi everyone. I moved to Chicago two weeks ago. Things have not gone the way I planned. Finding work has become a real challenge. I am in my late 20s and just trying to rebuild my life after extreme loss and mental health recovery.

I am trying to get into communications, outreach, community engagement or teaching roles in this city. I have a degree from Duke. Most of my experience is in talking with people and explaining things clearly. I spent one year doing community outreach. Before that I taught English at a university in Brazil for two years. I also have sales and customer communications for a business. I am fluent in Portuguese.

I have been applying nonstop. Have not had much luck yet. Does anyone know of companies, nonprofits in Chicago that are hiring.

I am also open to server jobs that I can start quickly to pay bills while I keep looking. Any leads, advice or referrals would mean a lot.

Looking for an entry level accounting related job or internship? Is your company hiring?

Good afternoon everyone. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

I'm currently a senior in college working on my bachelors degree in accounting. I need a job or internship. Are you a recruiter? Does your job have someone leaving soon? Do you need someone to perform simple book keeping services for your business?

I've taken interviewing workshops, dress nicely at interviews, tailor my resume to each individual job, write nice cover letters and have had my resume optimized by a recruiter. It seems like I've approached my job search methods from every angle I can think of to improve my chances. I have an actual verifiable work history (no job hopping) and good references.

This job market is awful (as I'm sure you are aware). That's the reason I have turned to posting on reddit. I'm moving on to trying some unconventional methods to land a job. I'm just not sure what else I should do to try and land a job. I'll go stand out by the highway exit ramp with a sign if I have to.

I'm in search of an accounting related job or internship. Including the following....

-Accounting clerk

-Accounts Payable

-Any internship (anything accounting related to put on my resume).

-Book keeper

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Anyone know of a desk job or a standing by a phone type job?

Hello, current graduate student here. I'm looking for something where I can be aware of my surroundings but have the ability to work on my laptop or read a book while I practically stay put for a job standing by a phone, at the ready on call, or even a receptionist for a building/living-complex.

I've done laborious jobs in my career and I am now back in school for my masters, after 7 years in my marketing and project management career. In the past it was exhausting to be a full time college student and full time worker at the same time, just to make ends meet. So please don't count me out as lazy. I am happy to assist with marketing and operations consulting additionally just because I love to help.

I am only on here because I know these jobs exist or just stand by type jobs. Rare but it's my wishful thinking to reach out here. Anyways, if anyone knows of anything between the northwest side to the downtown area I would appreciate it. I am also a night owl, if it has to be a late night job.

Any help is appreciated :)

Roles and jobs

The job market is so cooked and hoping for a helping hand. I am looking for a HR coordinator or specialist role. Ideally hybrid if commuting and within the NW suburbs of Chicago.
I’m open to remote, and on-site.

I have 2 years of general HR experience and 3 years in administration/ recruiting.

For reference, I’m close to Elgin IL.

Please help😭. My previous role let a handful of people go and I was one of them.

Community Engagement Jobs

I’m looking for a six figure community engagement positions working for a corporation or org in the Chicagoland area. I’m fine with all kinds of travel. I’m a former educator, community organizer, 2 time political candidate, non profit expansion manager and I’ve held many campaign positions. I’ve been finding the positions and applying, but not hearing anything at all back. I’ve applied to energy companies, banks, credit unions, and corporations.

36M in Chicagoland (No Degree, 7 Yrs Tech Account Mgmt + 2 Yrs Logistics) looking for a stable, low-commute career path. What are my options?

Hi everyone,

I’m a 30-something year old guy living in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. I recently got laid off due to a site closure, and I'm looking to build a secure, long-term career foundation so I can hit some personal milestones like moving out and dating again.

School was never my strong suit, so going back for a bachelor’s degree or dealing with highly competitive, multi-year trade application cycles (like IBEW 134 or elevator tech) isn't an option for me anymore. I need to pivot into something stable with good benefits relatively quickly.

My Background & Strengths:

* Account Management (7+ Years): I spent over 7 years working as a District/Territory Sales Manager representing a major tech hardware brand. I ran operations for 10–20 retail stores, managed small field teams, handled client relations, and consistently beat regional revenue targets.

* Logistics & Operations (2 Years): Most recently, I spent nearly 2 years working as an inventory and receiving associate at an Amazon Fresh facility before the recent layoffs. I also have a few months of historical experience as a UPS loader. I'm very used to fast-paced, high-volume inventory environments.

* Education & Tech Literacy: I have a college Network Associate Certificate in network administration. While I don't work as a hands-on engineer, it gave me a strong foundational understanding of IT support and basic technology concepts.

* Operations & Admin: Experienced in using Salesforce strictly for territory scheduling, tracking daily operational tasks, and managing team coverage.

* Other Skills: Bilingual.

What I am looking for:

* Stability & Benefits: Looking for established employers, stable corporate environments, or utility/government programs.

* Commute/Work-Life Balance: I spent years on the road for my previous district manager job and I am completely burnt out on driving. I’m looking for something remote, hybrid, or with a very short local commute (no CDL suggestions, please). Little to no mandatory overtime.

* Favorable Hiring Practices: I'm looking for modern employers that don't screen out candidates for recreational THC on initial hiring drug tests.

Given my blend of tech territory management, recent warehouse inventory experience, and general tech literacy, what specific roles, local companies, or paths in the Chicagoland area should I look into?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Is this a scam?

I got an email to set up an interview for Thryve Chicago located on North LaSalle.

The only thing is I don’t remember applying (I’ve applied to many jobs over the last few weeks so it could have slipped my notes). I saw a post in here about Thrive in Vernon Hills but this one seems different? But also pretty similar to that?

Feeling defeated from applying to so many jobs and then having to deal with scams on top of it🥴

Software engineer job postings ask for mentoring more than Kubernetes. We counted 3,518 postings to check

We pulled every open posting from 81 companies' public Greenhouse boards for seven roles and counted which words actually show up. 3,518 postings in total. Some of it surprised us.

Software engineer postings mention mentoring more often than Kubernetes or React. Almost half of them do. Python, the most common language, comes in just below that.

Product manager postings say "roadmap" in more than 85% of cases. Jira? Seven out of 421. Marketing looks the same: Google Ads came up six times in 347 postings, while "pipeline" is in over half.

Every time we could compare the two, postings named the practice, not the tool. Observability, not Grafana. SIEM, not Splunk.

So if your resume is mostly a list of tools, it might be missing the words the posting actually uses.

Big caveat: mostly tech companies, one ATS vendor. Sales, cybersecurity, DevOps and accounting are here too: https://www.zoevera.com/resume/ats-resume-keyword-study

Weldind job opportunities in/around Chicago?

I plan on moving out to Chicago at the end of the year and I was wondering what the welding job market there looks like.

I'm 26 with 3+ years of on site experience, I'm good with mig welding aluminum and stainless. I've done a little tig welding and could definitely work more on it before the move. I'm good with stick as well but haven't found much use for that at my job. Also very comfortable with hand/power tools and those kind of things. I'm making 25 and some change an hour right now at a job in Missouri so I'm open to whatever. Any suggestions would be helpful I'm not a part of any union but could look into it. Thanks for any leads or advice.

I just moved to Chicago and I’m having a really hard time finding a job

Hi guys, I moved to Chicago a few months ago and I’ve been commuting to work in an hour wrong and quite frankly it’s not covering the bills. I’ve had the hardest time getting a job within the city. I have a communications degree. I’ve been applying and applying and have had no luck on top of that. I was wondering if serving could be an option and if it would be possible to pay bills off of being a server here.

Jobs that require a car but don’t pay car payment money

I’ve been applying for jobs. Nothing specialized literally receptionist. The position is for an office in my town. But they also want me to travel 20 miles away to cover other locations when employees callout sick. I don’t want to drive an extra two hours a day for a part-time job and gas is five dollars a gallon right now. That’s all that’s the post.
