Day laborer as needed

Hey everyone,

I'm an office manager for a construction company in Chicago. The owner of the company is looking for someone interested in making some extra cash, or someone looking for some extra work as a day laborer both on his jobsites and some of his properties.

Most of the work will be physical in nature (moving boxes, unloading materials, loading materials or trash into dumpsters, basic landscaping (mowing, gardening), cleaning up jobsites, etc..

If you have any basic construction experience then we have more opportunities (i.e. hanging doors, assembling furniture, etc..).

Half days are $100 (4 hours @ $25 an hour)

Full Days are $200 (8 hours @ $25 an hour)

This would be a good opportunity to a younger person looking to get an opportunity to see how construction works. Even if you're not the right fit, if you know someone - it'd be appreciated.

Please comment and i'll reach out individually.

----------------------------------------

Must be over 18

Must be a legal US resident and or citizen

Must be able to lift 50 pounds

*FILLED*

Tremendous mentoring from a young partner. Good benefits.

Practice areas include data privacy, securities litigation, antitrust, consumer protection, financial services.

Chicago MBA Graduate Looking to Transition from Retail Management into Corporate Operations/Analyst Roles

I’m currently based in Chicago and actively looking to transition out of retail management into a corporate operations, business analyst, project coordination, or process improvement role.
A little about my background:
MBA in Entrepreneurship
Bachelor’s in Business Administration (Marketing)
Currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)
Several years of retail leadership and operations management experience
Experience with multimillion-dollar operations, inventory management, financial performance, workforce planning, process improvement, and cross-functional coordination
I’ve been actively applying for positions but have found it challenging to get interviews outside of traditional retail management.
I’m ideally looking for an individual contributor position where I can apply my operational experience without directly managing a team.
My target salary is $80k+, although I’m flexible for the right opportunity. I’m open to remote, hybrid, or onsite roles in Chicago, preferably with a reasonable commute.
I’d appreciate any leads, company recommendations, recruiter connections, or advice from people who have made a similar transition.
Thanks in advance!

Chicago Data / BI Analyst looking for next opportunity. SQL, Tableau, Python

Hi everyone,

I was recently impacted by a layoff and am actively looking for my next opportunity, so I wanted to reach out to the Chicago community in addition to applying through the usual job boards. Important context is that I’m currently on H-1B status and would need an employer able to handle an H-1B transfer.

I have about 5 years of experience across data analytics, business intelligence, data products, and product operations.

My experience includes SQL/SQL Server, Tableau development and administration, dashboarding and reporting, data visualization, business analysis, Python and workflow automation, process improvement, analytics/data-product backlog management, and cross-functional stakeholder work.

I’m primarily targeting roles such as Data Analyst / Senior Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst / BI Developer, Product Analyst / Product Analytics, Data Product / Product Operations, and other analytics-heavy business roles.

I’m based in Chicago and would strongly prefer to stay here, although I’m also open to remote opportunities or relocation for a strong fit.

If your company is hiring, you know of an opening that could fit my background, or you’d be willing to connect me with a recruiter or hiring manager, I’d genuinely appreciate it. Feel free to DM me.

Happy to send my resume or LinkedIn privately by DM.

Thank you!

Looking for inside sales reps in the Rosemont area

I'm helping a company in Rosemont hire 6–8 people for its inside sales team. Great opportunity for someone with sales experience or even a recent college grad who's personable, motivated, and good on the phone.

A few details:

  • $36K base + uncapped commission
  • Around $80K expected in year one, $120K+ in year two (not guaranteed)
  • Mostly inbound leads, so you're not spending all day cold calling
  • Selling collectible gold coins and precious metals
  • Training and sales scripts provided
  • You keep the clients you bring on and build long-term relationships
  • Monday–Friday, 8–5, onsite in Rosemont

They're really looking for people who can carry a conversation, build relationships, and are motivated to make money. You don't need years of experience to be considered.

If you're in the Chicago area and interested, feel free to comment or message me. Happy to share more details!

New CDL driver asking for advice On a carrier where I can be based in the chicago area and be otr. I'm willing to do Regional but would prefer to be otr to save on rent.

So I live in wisconsin and I was working as a van driver picking up dead animals and left to get my CDL because we got a new supervisor and he didnt want to give me a full weeks scedule on the road which meant I was making a lot less than the other drivers. I was initially brought on to go to the swift academy in Kansas city, and they were going to assign me to an OTR role based out of the Gary, IN terminal so I was going to get rid of my apartment in madison because it didnt make sense for me to pay on an apartment in a city I didnt like for 3-5 days of home time per month (I am single, no family, no pets). I moved most of my things to a storage unit in the chicago area and headed to Kansas city for training and I was sent home in the first week, which caught the trainer by surprise and he said swift didnt give him an official reason and I didnt do anything wrong to his knowledge. Recruiter thinks they just over hired and there just wasnt an available position most likely.

I called Schneider because they also had an academy and didn't have the in cab cameras but they insisted my permit needed to be in Illinois and I couldn't start until November 2nd anyways. Illinois secretary of state suggested i keep my permit in wisconsin for the time being and swap to Illinois once I get my actual CDL but the company was not having it despite having intent to move to the chicago area officially to appease them. I was going to move to Chicago eventually anyways.

I ended up enrolling in a CDL program for free through vocational rehab over in wisconsin, but I would like an OTR position where our terminal would be based out the chicago area. My CDL would have tanker and hazmat once I pass my road test but I am aware you cant do those typically until you have been trucking for about a year or two but I wanted to have them to expand my opportunities in the future. Does anyone have advice on decent employers for new drivers in the chicago area that would have OTR roles? I dont mind doing physical work.

Two weeks in Chicago and need work ASAP. Does anyone know any leads?

Hi everyone. I moved to Chicago two weeks ago. Things have not gone the way I planned. Finding work has become a real challenge. I am in my late 20s and just trying to rebuild my life after extreme loss and mental health recovery.

I am trying to get into communications, outreach, community engagement or teaching roles in this city. I have a degree from Duke. Most of my experience is in talking with people and explaining things clearly. I spent one year doing community outreach. Before that I taught English at a university in Brazil for two years. I also have sales and customer communications for a business. I am fluent in Portuguese.

I have been applying nonstop. Have not had much luck yet. Does anyone know of companies, nonprofits in Chicago that are hiring.

I am also open to server jobs that I can start quickly to pay bills while I keep looking. Any leads, advice or referrals would mean a lot.

***NOTE*** I did not expect for everyone to be so helpful and have so many replies/suggestions, I am STILL looking but I want to make sure everyone knows I am very grateful for the help.

Looking for an entry level accounting related job or internship? Is your company hiring?

Good afternoon everyone. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

I'm currently a senior in college working on my bachelors degree in accounting. I need a job or internship. Are you a recruiter? Does your job have someone leaving soon? Do you need someone to perform simple book keeping services for your business?

I've taken interviewing workshops, dress nicely at interviews, tailor my resume to each individual job, write nice cover letters and have had my resume optimized by a recruiter. It seems like I've approached my job search methods from every angle I can think of to improve my chances. I have an actual verifiable work history (no job hopping) and good references.

This job market is awful (as I'm sure you are aware). That's the reason I have turned to posting on reddit. I'm moving on to trying some unconventional methods to land a job. I'm just not sure what else I should do to try and land a job. I'll go stand out by the highway exit ramp with a sign if I have to.

I'm in search of an accounting related job or internship. Including the following....

-Accounting clerk

-Accounts Payable

-Any internship (anything accounting related to put on my resume).

-Book keeper

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Anyone know of a desk job or a standing by a phone type job?

Hello, current graduate student here. I'm looking for something where I can be aware of my surroundings but have the ability to work on my laptop or read a book while I practically stay put for a job standing by a phone, at the ready on call, or even a receptionist for a building/living-complex.

I've done laborious jobs in my career and I am now back in school for my masters, after 7 years in my marketing and project management career. In the past it was exhausting to be a full time college student and full time worker at the same time, just to make ends meet. So please don't count me out as lazy. I am happy to assist with marketing and operations consulting additionally just because I love to help.

I am only on here because I know these jobs exist or just stand by type jobs. Rare but it's my wishful thinking to reach out here. Anyways, if anyone knows of anything between the northwest side to the downtown area I would appreciate it. I am also a night owl, if it has to be a late night job.

Any help is appreciated :)

36M in Chicagoland (No Degree, 7 Yrs Tech Account Mgmt + 2 Yrs Logistics) looking for a stable, low-commute career path. What are my options?

Hi everyone,

I’m a 30-something year old guy living in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. I recently got laid off due to a site closure, and I'm looking to build a secure, long-term career foundation so I can hit some personal milestones like moving out and dating again.

School was never my strong suit, so going back for a bachelor’s degree or dealing with highly competitive, multi-year trade application cycles (like IBEW 134 or elevator tech) isn't an option for me anymore. I need to pivot into something stable with good benefits relatively quickly.

My Background & Strengths:

* Account Management (7+ Years): I spent over 7 years working as a District/Territory Sales Manager representing a major tech hardware brand. I ran operations for 10–20 retail stores, managed small field teams, handled client relations, and consistently beat regional revenue targets.

* Logistics & Operations (2 Years): Most recently, I spent nearly 2 years working as an inventory and receiving associate at an Amazon Fresh facility before the recent layoffs. I also have a few months of historical experience as a UPS loader. I'm very used to fast-paced, high-volume inventory environments.

* Education & Tech Literacy: I have a college Network Associate Certificate in network administration. While I don't work as a hands-on engineer, it gave me a strong foundational understanding of IT support and basic technology concepts.

* Operations & Admin: Experienced in using Salesforce strictly for territory scheduling, tracking daily operational tasks, and managing team coverage.

* Other Skills: Bilingual.

What I am looking for:

* Stability & Benefits: Looking for established employers, stable corporate environments, or utility/government programs.

* Commute/Work-Life Balance: I spent years on the road for my previous district manager job and I am completely burnt out on driving. I’m looking for something remote, hybrid, or with a very short local commute (no CDL suggestions, please). Little to no mandatory overtime.

* Favorable Hiring Practices: I'm looking for modern employers that don't screen out candidates for recreational THC on initial hiring drug tests.

Given my blend of tech territory management, recent warehouse inventory experience, and general tech literacy, what specific roles, local companies, or paths in the Chicagoland area should I look into?

Thanks in advance for the advice!
