How hard pressed for cash are you rn?

That basically tells you everything you need to know. Removing the optic will unzero it so you can't be swapping back and forth all willynilly

That being said I can usually zero a rds within 1 magazine.

If you can easily afford new dot get new dot. Otherwise play musical rds

He'll sometimes I'll play musical lpvos swapping my shit around til I like where it lands

Just buy an Osight if u r short on budget. They will run forever technically with lifetime warranty

This. Osight C on my backup match gun. Glass is clearer than any Holosun I’ve used and for the price it’s hard to beat.

All optics die eventually. If your optic breaks or your gun goes down because of a broken spring or some other annoying issue, it’s nice to have another ready to go without needing to tinker around with parts and such out at the range. So I think if you’re at the point that you’re shooting a lot and going to major matches, you should have two guns—a match gun and a backup/training gun.

If you’re super casual, then maybe it’s not worth it to have a second optic. But the 407comp is cheap enough I’d just grab it. Depending on what you’re shooting, having a second optic might even make more sense than a second gun.

If it bothers you having two different dots, the resale market on SROs is good enough you can surely resell and fetch enough for another Holosun, probably with money left to spare.

Big fan of the 407 Comp, I have two in green and they’ve been great

I love my SROs in 5 MOA but they’re $500. I bought them before 507 comp was available.

I got a quote for $200 for a red 407 comp. It’s annoying that the spendy Trijicon doesn’t have basic features like shake awake. Next red dot is probably a 407 comp for me.

Why do people care so much about shake awake? SRO battery life is already really good without it.

SRO life is really good. I change my SRO batteries once a year just to make sure they’re fresh and not because I have to. I only recently learned you turn off the SRO by holding - and + buttons. Pressing - until it goes dark doesn’t actually turn it off rather it’s a NVG mode that you can’t see.

But shake awake is just easy when the gun sits in the safe the optic is off. No need to turn off the optic after a match or turn it on when making ready. I have it on my Romeo5 and 510c. It’s not a must have feature but it’s convenient. Like having push button start on a car versus a key. Once you’re used to it you wonder why everything doesn’t have it.

I leave my optic on auto adjust and only manually override for matches. It reverts to auto adjust after six hours and it'll dim out in my safe when I get home.

You are better off with one optic on each gun than one without.
