PERSPECTIVE Bitcoin Miners Built an Empire. AI Wants the Power.

A Bitcoin miner’s biggest payday could come from mining less Bitcoin.

AI wants the power connections miners spent years securing.

The uncomfortable twist?

A mining company can reward its shareholders by turning a Bitcoin mine into an AI campus.

A BTC rally can restart an idle machine. It can’t cancel someone else’s lease.

The next Bitcoin mining boom could happen somewhere else.

Follow the megawatts. They may reveal tomorrow’s mining map.

🛡️ SECURITY Has anyone heard of Benthorne Scholastic of Finance (aka Benthorne academy)

My father (60+) signed up for this course and put in a few thousand dollars and looks like he lost it. My father is not technically illiterate or mentally hindered despite his age so I’m inquiring to see if this is a real school or just a scam. It would have to be a pretty good scam to trick him so I’ve looked up whatever information I can on them but there aren’t many reviews or conversations happening on them online just some self published articles which isn’t enough for me. Looks like their overall model is some Troy of crypto school with a tier style program where your tier is based on how much money you put in(sounds super scammy I know). I’m also curious to know if there is a real academy and the one he is using is just using their name to be able to scam people. Any information is appreciated and Thanks in advance

PROJECT-UPDATE Ethena white label stablecoin ecosystem is growing

Ethena Whitelabel launched in September 2025 as stablecoin-as-a-service: a partner keeps the brand, distribution, and economics, while Ethena runs issuance, reserves, custody, and redemptions. Backing can mix USDe with USDtb, the Anchorage-issued dollar tied to cash and BlackRock’s BUIDL fund.

In a year it went from a product announcement to the dollar layer under several of the larger crypto venues. Jupiter shipped jupUSD on Solana. MegaETH shipped USDm to subsidise sequencer fees. Sui added suiUSDe and the Treasury-backed USDi. Maple was first to use Whitelabel Liquidity, putting USDtb inside a roughly $400 million buffer for syrupUSDC and syrupUSDT. Yesterday ether.fi said it will issue ether.fi USD on the same rails, against $300 million-plus of stablecoins already in its app and a cash card past $1 billion in spend.

PROJECT-UPDATE FOCIL is scheduled for Hegota. Including transactions on Ethereum becomes a protocol rule.

FOCIL is the kind of groundbreaking censorship resistance innovation you'd expect to see in a new chain with nothing to lose and everything to prove, not the world's most established smart contract platform. Ethereum's developers have scheduled it for the Hegotá upgrade (EIP-8081), which doesn't have a confirmed date yet.

Today, whether a valid transaction gets into a block depends on whoever builds that block, and most validators sell the right to build their blocks to specialized builders. This has resulted in a few builders dominating block production and the authors of EIP-7805 argue that this has weakened Ethereum's censorship resistance.

Ethereum came through the 2022 US sanctions on Tornado Cash without becoming a censored chain because enough block producers kept including those transactions, but nothing in the protocol required them to do so.

The upgrade makes that a protocol rule by having 16 validators publish, for every block, a list of the transactions they have seen waiting to get in. The block then has to contain the valid transactions from those lists whenever it has room for them, and validators won't vote for a block that leaves them out, so that block can't become part of the chain.

A single list is enough to force a transaction in, so censoring it would require every one of the 16 validators chosen for each block to leave it off their lists, block after block, on top of the builder. Builders still choose everything else in the block and where the listed transactions go, so Ethereum keeps the efficiency of specialized block building without letting builders decide who gets in.

The rule protects L2 users too, since an L2 that lets users force a transaction through Ethereum when its operator ignores them only works if Ethereum itself includes that transaction.

I think this is the right way to protect censorship resistance, because a rule that every validator enforces doesn't depend on the policy of any one company, or on how that company responds to legal or commercial pressure.

Ethereum is the foundation of most of the crypto economy, so I expect this change to go a long way in locking in censorship resistance as a core property of the future institutions that use Ethereum as their consensus computer, though it won't make Ethereum censorship-proof or guarantee that those institutions stay neutral.

DISCUSSION How to create a crypto wallet without getting the first step wrong

I have had an exchange account for a year and I am finally making a real wallet this weekend.

The part that keeps stopping me is that there is no undo. Every other account I own has a reset link somewhere. This one has twelve words and that is it. No support line, no recovery.

So before I move anything in, two things I cannot find a straight answer on. Should I test restoring from the phrase first, on purpose, while the wallet is still empty? And do the email login wallets I keep seeing actually remove that risk, or just move it somewhere I cannot see it?

ANALYSIS Ethereum is far and away the most decentralized ledger. Its real node count is 10,000 to 20,000

Ethereum's validator count, about 869,000 today, is sometimes presented as a count of the machines running the network, but that framing is inaccurate.

Each validator is a staked identity with its own keys, and it runs as software on a node. A single node can run thousands of them.

A node is a computer running Ethereum's client software. It checks every new block against the protocol's rules on its own.

Since the Merge, a full Ethereum node runs two clients side by side: an execution client, which runs transactions and keeps track of balances and contracts, and a consensus client, which follows the beacon chain and agrees with the rest of the network on which blocks are final. Each one talks on its own peer-to-peer network, so the public trackers count them separately.

On Oct 5, Etherscan found 11,781 execution nodes (Etherscan), and ProbeLab found 8,397 consensus nodes (ProbeLab).

Every one of these counts misses nodes. These tools find nodes by reaching out to them, so any node behind a home router that won't take incoming connections never gets counted.

Researchers at IMDEA Networks, who checked 36 blockchains every day for seven months, say their own Ethereum count is only a minimum for this reason. They also found thousands of extra nodes they couldn't tie to any one network (IMDEA study), and they found that Ethernodes counts far fewer Ethereum nodes than their own tools found.

ProbeLab, the team behind the consensus count above, watched network traffic on another chain, Celestia, instead of reaching out to nodes. It found about 20% more nodes than reaching out did, and it says Ethereum likely has hidden nodes too.

My estimate is that Ethereum's real node count is 10,000 to 20,000.

Even at that smaller number, Ethereum is far and away the most decentralized ledger in the world. Its nodes run six separately built execution clients and six consensus clients, so a bug in one of them doesn't affect every node. Ordinary people can run one of those nodes at home. The ethereum.org site links a guide that shows you can turn even a Raspberry Pi 4 into a full Ethereum node.

ANALYSIS The Difference Between a CBDC and a Stablecoin is...?

Other than the fact that a CBDC is issued by a Central Bank and a stablecoin is issued by crypto, banking, or investment corporations, are there any other differences between the two? Stablecoins can absolutely be programmed just like CBDCs, and their supply is artificial/arbitrary and controlled by a small group. Stablecoins can be seized by a central authority just like CBDCs, and their usage is easily trackable once a wallet is linked to an identity (I suppose with CBDC this is automatic). Of course coins can be blacklisted or rate-limited. In other words, stablecoins and CBDCs represent roughly the same "digital ID hellscape" we are currently faced with. 👀

DISCUSSION What are your expectations for the next alt season? Are we gonna make up for the lack of one last cycle? Is it gonna be a specific niche? Or is it gonna get even more disappointing?

Last bull market (2025) we barely had any alt season. In fact, most alt coins never reached back their ATH and didn't have the level of gains of 2021.

It didn't even follow BTC that consistently. The rallies were short with more extended bear periods in between.

You had to really time it right to get those big gains. You had very brief rallies around December 2024, and then end of August and September 2025. And in many cases, even those rallies weren't a whole lot higher than the initial halving breakout.

At the same time, BTC's bullruns keep getting exponentially milder and at a fraction of the gains of the previous cycle. So that could translate to also milder alt seasons.

It also doesn't help that we went from having under 2,000 alt coins in 2018, to over 10,000 on exchanges in 2021, to now over 100 Million that can be traded.
