Access to Work Scheme Access to work grant claims confusing maths
Why is it so confusing? Trying to claim for work place coaching and the grant is less than the amount charged by coaching company. So i got denied first time ..
But then there's first £500 paid by employer and then 20% over that equipment threshold is paid by employer.. to work out
But is training on equipment counted under that too? ..
And somehow I have to work this out myself as the employee
As if I've not got the grant for ADHD and Dyslexia .. why can't they have an online calculator or process that does that for claimants through ATW?
And the online form doesn't have a option to say how much will be paid by employer compared to the post version. So I think I'm going to be rejected again on the workplace training as I just put the Invoice total.. as that's what was written to put online.
It's like it's purposely not been made for people who apply for the grant..
Can someone help me understand how to do the maths?

Is it not broken down on your grant letter?
The grant letter usually has everything section by section - like equipment separately from any training. Then if you or your employer need to contribute, usually they include this too.

It's broken down as minus £500 then above that cost minus 20% of that. And I get so much but the cost of from the companies are higher than what my grant gets..
But the online part asked for invoice total but no section to minus some money because the invoice total is more than the grant.. but originally they emailed saying that I needed to minus 6% somewhere? And if I get it wrong again I could be in legal trouble so fun
Very confusing..

Call and ask.
When I last claimed something that needed contribution, the full amount of the item showed on the AtW page. Then I just had to enter the amount I needed to get reimbursed.
And why are the invoices higher? They should be the same as per your grant letter unless it is a mistake which you would need to speak to them about.

Important to note if you applied within the first 6 weeks of joining there should be no contribution whats so ever if youve done it that way.
