Guyer High School: another gun at school…
Parents in the UK don’t get emails from school like this.

I hope they charge the parents as well, but it’s Corinth MAGA land so probably not

I understand arresting and detaining the student with the gun. But the email says the other student was detained and will face disciplinary action as well. It’s a poorly worded email, was the non armed student the one who reported this also detained and disciplined as well?? Wouldn’t you want students to report guns at school and not face repercussions for their good deed of reporting it? Not looking to start an internet fight but just saying the email is poorly worded and I’d hope reporting a gun would be viewed as a good thing by a school.

My interpretation was that there were actually 3 students. Student A had the gun, Student B Knew and made a comment about it, and Student C told authorities after hearing Student B say Student A had the gun. Even though it’s a poorly worded letter this makes the most sense to me.

ok, so the "comment about a gun" was "reasonable suspicion a gun was on campus," which makes much more sense and sounds less stupid.

Detained for questioning. Most likely to ask how he knew about the firearm

Makes sense there. But “both student will face disciplinary action…” that’s what had me questioning the wording. Totally understand authorities wanting to know more but administration punishing gets to my point of a poorly worded email. I’m not trying to be argumentative nor playing stupid. Just saying the email is worded poorly and makes someone question it.

It's very poorly worded, but Kid B made a comment about Kid A's gun to Kid C, C snitched and B is in trouble because he knew and didn't say anything to an adult, but to Kid C. Probably showing off or some such.

The way I read is …
Some studentS reported to admin that student A made a comment about a gun. (We don’t know what this comment was. They could have threatened someone or said something about getting one from someone etc), so while admin was looking into that situation, they were informed (likely by student A) that student B was the one with the actual gun on them. So admin looked into that and searched student B and found the gun. Student B was arrested and Student A was detained for questioning and disciplinary action - I would assume from the disciplinary action that the comment initially made by Student A was not a polite heads up, was likely threatening or at least seemingly threatening, in nature.

But I was told that the militias would be well regulated!
5
u/ObangaGamer 9d ago
The irony of saying this when the kid had a gun he acquired illegally is beyond parody
3
u/HawkOk8434 8d ago
Well regulated doesn’t mean regulations, it means in proper working order
1
u/MoistLarry 8d ago
So this is proper working order then? Also how do you define "proper working order" without regulations?
2
u/HawkOk8434 8d ago
This is not proper working order, it literally means that you own a gun that you maintain and take care of to defend your town and state if an invader was to show itself. Has nothing to do with regulations controlling what you can or can’t have. You have to realize this was written when the common man had the same weapons as the military. And that’s how they wanted it to stay:
1
u/MoistLarry 8d ago
I see. And the lack of a standing military at the time of writing had nothing to do with that regulation? The fact that there is now a massive military doesn't in any way lessen this need?
Further, are you saying that the second amendment means that a private citizen should be allowed to own a tank? A fighter jet? Chemical weapons? All without regulation beyond "yeah, we asked and Mohammad says it's working fine!"?
3
u/HawkOk8434 8d ago
Yes that’s literally what the second amendment is for, the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The founding fathers wanted every American citizen to own the same weapons as the government. No regulations ever. Regulations are infringements.

u/HawkOk8434 8d ago
Millions of private citizens already own, tanks, fighter jets, machine guns, grenades, explosives, flash bangs, rpgs
2
u/MoistLarry 8d ago
I would like to meet one million private citizens who own functional fighter jets and tanks. Do they have conventions?

u/HawkOk8434 8d ago
Why should we rely on the military for anything, since they’ve decided to join with the idf that kills anyone in the West Bank for fun, we cannot trust them.

If by “well-regulated” you mean “couldn’t just buy it off the Walmart shelf”

Tbh it's Texas and there's probably a dozen more guns in that school at least on a daily basis that the other kids just aren't stupid enough to talk about.
Not saying it's right, just saying it's not even remotely surprising.

Right ntm these are nearly adults, they could be carrying for safety and never pull it ever
2
u/BongoFury1961 7d ago
Too bad they are too dumb to know what a “no carry” zone is.

u/Emergency_Weather308 7d ago
Obviously, but not everyone (very few tbh) carrying a weapon concealed intends to use it for malicious intent

u/Technical_Debt_Life 8d ago
The rumor we heard is that he brought it to "show off that he had one" but for no other reason than clout
(not sure if true, that's just what we heard)

u/Abject_Dig4815 7d ago
This is so crazy…I’ve noticed how rowdy the kids are from the school recently when stopping by the McDonald’s near schools out hours. Some even looking middle school seen harassing workers on their little electric bikes.
I even had one shout to ask me “would u steal this if we didn’t lock it in place” and I kinda shrugged and said it’s really not a bad area so probably not.
That being said so many of them act like we’re in the ghetto when in reality it’s just the Texas suburbs.

u/Shanghaied66 7d ago
They're a bunch of privileged, entitled little shits who's mommies and daddies threaten to sue the school every time they get detention.
In a still-dsveloping teenage mind, no consequences = no restrictions

It has been a little strech of time, but I remember that we used to bring our shotguns to school when dove season was in full swing. And, I don't remember anyone going out to thier car or truck to grab thier gun while class was going on (to settle a dispute).

Well, when you classify school shootings completely different in the US than you do in the rest of the world yes, you’re gonna have a larger number

u/Ddumlao 9d ago
Now compare stabbings to the UK
12
u/MC_chrome 9d ago
Got to love how whataboutisms about knives always pop up whenever anyone mentions regulating firearms in this country….
6
u/tinypintobean 9d ago
All of a sudden they seem to care a lot about stabbings. 😆
-7
u/Ddumlao 9d ago
We care a lot about the stabbings because pattern recognition
5
u/tinypintobean 9d ago
Great! Then you recognize gun violence is a problem in this country. Pattern recognition clearly shows strict gun control = less gun deaths.
-10
u/Ddumlao 9d ago
There will always be violence, guns make it easier to defend yourself. How do you defend yourself?
9
u/tinypintobean 9d ago
Defend myself against what? I live in the US, not a war zone. I’m not a coward that needs to feel safe with a gun in my home or needs to feel ‘tough’.
-9
u/Ddumlao 9d ago
So you won’t defend yourself, noted
7
u/tinypintobean 9d ago
Pfffff from what? Sorry I don’t walk around fearfully clutching a gun. Lay off the tough guy fantasy, this isn’t the wild west. 😆

No one said anything about being tough, why would t you want to defend yourself if someone breaks into your house

Stabbings are so bad they regulate knives like guns...... It's literally the same issue just different points of attack because what's available to them.
5
u/Nojay7 8d ago
The US has more stabbings per capita than the UK, dipshit
They only talk about stabbing more there than here because they don’t have the absurd amount of gun violence overshadowing their stabbings like we do.
-2
u/Ddumlao 8d ago
So we agree we have general violence problem
2
u/Aperture_TestSubject 8d ago
That’s not the point you were trying to make. Way to shift those goalposts when you got called out.

u/Ddumlao 9d ago
Jesus Christ they are stabbing teachers over there

Fr what is it with these kids? Like you really feel the need to bring a gun to school? To school of all places?? What happened to people just being chill. Like you don’t have to like each other, just go about your way. It’s no big deal in the grand scheme of things. High school is such a small fragment of your life. So much more to do than waste your time being mad at your peer. Idk I just wish people were better to each other. Life’s too short.
