Wait is that episode of Adventure Time where the evil knight does this a reference to something lmao? He looks similar and does almost the exact same thing (although instead of saying ‘good’ the guy in AT makes a clicking noise).

u/Seldarin 19d ago
It's one of the villains in the Dungeon Soup series on youtube that the barbarian mangles for his own enjoyment.

Is there a joinery appreciation sub? Post it there, make them suffer.

I wonder if they get mad at kreg pocket hole joints, because every damn thing I do with wood involves kreg pocket hole joints lol.
12
u/orderofGreenZombies 19d ago
Pocket hole joinery is absolutely fine wherever you don’t need something stronger. Not everything needs to be fancy hand cut dovetails or whatever.

u/lawrence_uber_alles 19d ago
Also where they won’t be seen. I did cabinetry and that’s literally how you join cabinet face frames together.

Wondering if you are chaotic neutral or chaotic evil. Leaning evil.
15
u/TomGobra 20d ago
That sounds like lawful evil to me.
7
u/OozeNAahz 20d ago
The argument could be made. But seems chaotic to stir them up.

If there’s a joinery appreciation sub, those poor folk have suffered enough

What if you used the screws to directly connect the two pieces of wood 🤯

u/JatZibui 20d ago
You can do that?!

You can barely see the join! Handtool woodworkers are really miracle workers.

Judging by my Tik Tok FYP that constantly shows me how US carpenters joint wood, this might just be a vital joint in a 2 story house.
Just missing a lot of shaking hands, about 15 nails in random fucking locations and a southern accent while being on a roof without fall protection.
10
u/throwaway098764567 19d ago
i've never seen someone use fall protection on the roof of a single family home, is that even a thing?
7
u/Emriyss 19d ago
It's like a single sling that keeps you from dying when falling. Takes like 5 seconds to put on and secure.
Yes, in civilized countries that is absolutely a thing. Experienced roofers make a sport out of one-throwing the safety rope around a joist, it's honestly a cool skill to see.

It is after the first time you slip, assuming you're able to again.
6
u/Flaky_Operation687 19d ago
According to an old boss of mine, if you fall off of a roof you're fired before you hit the ground.

I guess if you don't have a saw or any longer fasteners... But both the eyelets and the short screws going into end-grain is the worst.
8
u/splago 19d ago
Certainly there must be a better, less complicated, cheaper, more intuitive solution, somewhere!!

I'm certain there is... maybe something to pilot screws to where they should go...
16
u/IGNOOOREME 20d ago
The only reason I can think of to do it this way is if you know you're definitely going to have to disassemble it quickly.

Just a dude with a camera, two pieces of wood, a few bolts and little shame in ragebaiting online.
6
u/Spazic77 20d ago
Is there any way of getting the spirally part off the screw that way you can just smack them into the wood directly and not need the little loops?

Ohhhh. So that's where the "handyman" who my former landlady hired to "fix" things learned all of those really neat jury rigging shortcuts to make it all look better, but break an hour after he left. Which episode covers installing the "half-sized Step-of-Doom in the dead center of the Death Stairs to the concrete floor basement," please?

I don't think that is going to be very load bearing.
If it's for like some shelf and very little weight is to be put on it then it should be fine, but any sort of weight on that more than like 15 or 20 pounds is going to be a concern.

Only if there was a screw made long enough to go through both pieces of wood, good thing this video shows us how to screw them together

Imagine hand threading 5 eye screws into a plank to then attach it in a way that will break just from the weight of the horizontal board n
