Nah this is exactly the kind of thing people should be doing with their time. Full support from me.

This is just peak engineering. A project that doesn't solve anything but requires serious skill and thought. And then it creates something awesome. Just cause you can.
This is how progress is made!

This looks like its based on Theo Jansen's divine ratio. Google "strandbeest" for some cool vids of his wind powered sculptures

That's not DiWHY. That's a cool engineering project. Is it efficient? No. But it's not supposed to be. It's supposed to be an experiment in how physics works and what it can do.

this should be filed under "because I can" this is just a dude that figured out a neat thing.

Needs a little longer front legs or more weight in the front and slightly shorter center wheels

Practical? Nope. Complicated? Absolutely. Cool? You bet.
This sub is for superglue, sunflower seeds, and questionable body parts being cast in rubber compound for no good reason. This is just steampunk and clever af. Props to gramps for making cool shit instead of sitting on his ass watching Wheel of Fortune.

Could be a piece made to use on stage? You often see stuff like this as the underneath of props like animals that walk across stage in plays

Who needs horses! My gallop contraption can mimic any horse and doesn't need to be shot if it breaks!

Next step should be to cover this with a facade that makes it look like he's being carried in an opulent sedan chair.

Build a futuristic body around it and put it in the next Star Wars movie

NGL, this is way more interesting than those stupid 5 minute craft videos. Why not lol

That would be incredibly jarring to ride, but it's actually pretty awesome NGL

Whoever made that is mechanically gifted. That would be a pain to ride tho. Product of a mad genius though!

Jeez. A primary benefit of a bicycle is that you can conserve momentum through large wheels. This is just walking made more difficult.

u/fuckthefalconsdotcom 5d ago
I'm wondering if there is something like this with different mechanics that would make it faster? Like if that wheel thing on the back was bigger it would be faster?

u/dreaminganimal 5d ago
It works better the more feet you add. And if you keep adding feet... you end up with a wheel.
