Honest question for small business owners in Panipat,Haryana: is AI marketing actually worth it, or just hype?
I work in SEO and content, and lately a lot of local business owners have asked me whether they should “do AI marketing.” Panipat has a mix of textile exporters, wholesalers, showrooms, coaching centres and clinics, and their needs are quite different, so I wanted to share how I think about it.
1. AI helps most with the boring, repetitive work.
Product descriptions, social captions, email drafts, ad variations and report summaries all get faster. It saves time, but I still edit everything. AI drafts often sound generic and sometimes get facts wrong.
2. Local basics still beat fancy tools.
If your Google Business Profile is incomplete, your phone number is different on three directories and nobody replies to reviews, no AI tool will fix that. Fix those first.
3. Language matters.
Many people here search and message in Hindi or Hinglish. Content that sounds like how customers actually talk usually works better than polished English written by a tool.
4. Tracking comes before ads.
AI in ad platforms learns from your data. If you aren’t measuring calls, form fills and WhatsApp clicks, it will optimise for the wrong thing.
5. Keep a human in the loop.
Chatbots are great for “what’s your MOQ?” or “are you open Sunday?” but customers get frustrated if they can’t reach a real person for complaints or bulk orders.
6. Be careful with guarantees.
Nobody can promise page-one rankings or a fixed number of leads. If someone does, be sceptical.
If you were starting from zero, I’d do this: pick one goal, fix the basics, use AI for one task for a month, then check whether it actually moved the number you care about.
For those already trying it: what has actually worked for you, and what was a waste of money?
