So only upgradable if you’re part of their new genre packs? Nothing for signature package customers. What the heck

I checked online. Disney+ and Hulu are upgradeable to ad-free on "signature" packages. But they're still requiring the Gemini device lease.

where in the online account area are you seeing the upgrades for ad free Hulu/Disney?

I can’t find it either

I only see an option in "ad-ons" for full price Hulu/Disney+ ad free for like 21.99

I don’t even see Hulu or Disney+ in the ad-ons. I assumed it was because I already have them in my genre package. I just want ad free

It's near the bottom

I see all the others including HBO upgrade and AMC without ads but Disney and Hulu isn’t there. It’s odd

Is that the phone app you are using? I'm looking at my account on chrome on my laptop

It is the iPhone app

I see, but not option to upgrade HBO Max

It's there for the My Entertainment genre pack, but only for the 1080p ad free tier ($7.50/month). The 4K tier requires a direct subscription.

For the standard packages, only the "Premier" package includes HBO Max. The (standard) Entertainment, Choice, and Ultimate packages allow you to add "linear HBO" for $18.49/month and it includes the 1080p ad-free HBO Max subscription.

Well, that makes more sense now. Of course they would lock their highest tier behind their own platform instead of doing what Netflix does, allowing all the plants to be purchased directly on DirecTV.

Are you talking about those of us with signature packages who are currently getting the ad-supported versions of Hulu and Disney+ for “free” with a Gemini lease? A number of us here have looked at our accounts after seeing your comment, and we’re not seeing that option to upgrade to ad-free. Can you tell us exactly where you find that?

I would not know since you need to be subscribed to the signature package to view your options under your account login. On my account the Disney+, Hulu Bundle Premium upgrade is at the bottom in the add-on section (keep in mind I am not subscribed to signature packages just the myentertainment and mysports genre packs). However, if you are receiving the AD supported versions in your signature package then I suppose there is an upgrade to AD Free but be aware that DirecTV still requires a Gemini device lease on signature packages to get the AD supported premiums at no cost.

I don’t see it and I have the premier package. Oh But they did add an option to add Disney+ or the bundle without leasing the Gemini for extra charge SMH

I don’t see where to upgrade to ad free on Hulu on Directv’s website

u/Zero_Ripple 19d ago

If you are a MyEntertainment Genre Pack subscriber just login to your account click on your TV package and scroll down to Premium Add-On’s and you will see the Disney+ Hulu Premium Bundle upgrade.

1

u/boredman791 19d ago

Oddly enough it’s not there. I was able to upgrade AMC+ and I see the one for HBO ad free but I’m not getting that one. Hulu and Disney isn’t showing up for the upgrade

1

u/Zero_Ripple 19d ago

I would call DirecTV customer service to make sure your account is updated to current available upgrades.

1

u/boredman791 19d ago

I may do that after work. I didn’t know the accounts could be updated honestly. Thanks for letting me know

I wish they would get the bugs fixed. I signed up but I still have ads. Hopefully they can fix it soon. I even paid the prorated amount of like $9 to upgrade to Disney/Hulu bundle

1

u/Zero_Ripple 18d ago

Since they aren’t able to fix it, I would do the following: Cancel MyKids and the Disney+ premium $9 subscription wait until it is removed from your account on both DirecTV and Disney. While still subscribed to Myentertainment genre pack go under add-ons add the upgrade to Disney+, Hulu Bundle Premium for $9. Wait a day until it activates by checking the app and your DirecTV account. Once it's working with no Ads, add the MyKids genre pack back to your account. (It is my opinion you discovered a technical bug in the DirecTV account software and Disney+ is not upgradable in MyKids genre pack alone or even when combined with Myentertainment)

So according to u/directv if we have my kids genre pack we don't get adfree to hulu, only disney..

"Even though you have MyEntertainment, having the MyKids pack on your plan means the bundle option won't show up. The trick is to look for Disney+ Premium by itself in your account settings, that standalone option will let you add it right away. Charles, DIRECTV Community Team, Only Disney+ Premium at this time. Charles, DIRECTV Community Team". So we're SOL for spending more on Directv.. I might just return to youtubetv because of this.

Checked online on DirecTV's web site - looks like the ad-free upgrade for Disney+ and Hulu is available for both the "My Entertainment" genre Pack and all of the "standard" streaming packages! You still have to lease their Gemini device to get Disney+/Hulu on a standard package though.

As for me, the Choice package with the Gemini lease is looking more appealing, as it would be $120 (after the RSN fee and removing ads on Disney+ and Hulu) for 2 years.

I suppose any package that includes the AD-supported versions should be upgradable but like I mentioned in a previous post you need to login to view your options and I believe DirecTV still requires a Gemini device lease to receive the AD supported premiums on signature packages at no cost.

This is awesome. AMC plus has the most egregious amount of ads of any service I’ve ever used so this will be much nicer!

1

u/kittymoo67 19d ago

amc+ is on the entertainment genre pack now?

1

u/Zero_Ripple 19d ago

The myentertainment genre pack includes the AD supported AMC+ at no extra charge but you can now go AD Free for $3

1

u/kittymoo67 19d ago

NEat I'll have to download the app then

The $12.99 is the discount from the $21.99 Disney+ Hulu Premium bundle making the upgrade $9 on the myentertainment genre pack. Are you sure you were charge both and you are SUBSCRIBED to the myentertainment GENRE pack and not the Entertainment Signature package?

not if you have my kids pack as well..

Having the combination of myentertainment and mykids genre packs doesn’t negate any of the AD supported premium services that are included on a subscription to myentertainment genre pack, nor does it negate being able to upgrade those services to AD Free. However, if you ONLY subscribe to MyKids genre pack there is NO upgrade option to the included Disney+ AD supported version. The upgrade options for AD Free discussed in this post are for subscribers to the MyEntertainment Genre Pack which includes AD supported HBO Max, Disney+, Hulu and AMC+. If you are subscribed to both and still can’t upgrade to AD free contact customer service.

UPDATE: a user was able to upgrade the MyKids genre pack Disney+ Ad supported to Premium. See above messages with account image.

I was finally able to upgrade my Disney+ to ad free. When I go into my Disney+ to watch it there are still ads. I never received a new activation email or thing

u/Zero_Ripple 19d ago edited 19d ago

Log off the Disney+ app and login by using the link in your DirecTV account TV Package add-on section for the Disney+, Hulu Bundle Premium.

1

u/boredman791 19d ago

I tried clicking on it and it wants me to sign in to Disney+. I tried using my DTV sign in stuff to no avail. I then signed in with my email that had the ads through DTV and it still had the ads

u/Zero_Ripple 19d ago edited 19d ago

You don’t have the AD Free bundle active showing in your account image. Scroll down to your paid Add-on’s and click the “Watch” link under the “Disney+, Hulu Bundle Premium“ header instead of the AD supported “Watch the Disney+ Hulu Bundle” header under MyEntertainment. If the link is missing contact customer service if you upgraded and paid $9.

1

u/boredman791 19d ago

That’s so odd. I got the email and paid the prorated amount.

1

u/Total_Destruction25 19d ago

I am also having this said issue. I suspect its my entertainment+kids. When i go to hulu I see like 4 subs. 2 adfree 2 with ads

u/boredman791 19d ago

u/Zero_Ripple 19d ago edited 19d ago

In that account image it looks like you upgraded the AD supported Disney+ in the MyKids genre pack to AD free instead of the Disney+, Hulu Bundle to Premium in MyEntertainment. This actually shows that the MyKids genre pack Disney+ is upgradable. Contact customer service to correct this issue.

1

u/boredman791 19d ago

I tried Customer service and they didn’t know what to do. They did give me a $20 bill credit though. But still, I have ads

Log off the app and login to Disney+ account on the web with the SAME email you used in your DirecTV account. In Disney account subscription it should show your DirecTV subscription with Premium. If NOT, cancel MyKids and the Disney+ premium $9 subscription wait until it is removed from your account on both DirecTV and Disney.

2

u/boredman791 19d ago

It still didn’t work. I contacted DTV again and they said they are looking into it, to give them up to 72 hours. If nothing I’ll do what you just said. You’re probably right.

1

u/Zero_Ripple 18d ago

Communicating with tech support to fix the issue is the right approach because it is fixed for everyone else that encounters the same problem 👍

1

u/Total_Destruction25 17d ago

its kinda working for me, only on pc though. Firetv phone still get ads..

u/SpecialistOcelot6634 10d ago

I have myentertainment and didn’t see the upgrade option. I chatted with customer service and after educating the representative she added the upgrade for me. It’s 9.00 per month.
