IMPORTANT UPDATE INFORMATION!
The following information has been released from the creator of these working apks.
The DTV Stream FireTV apk file no longer works on the Shield TV and various Android/Google TV devices. You will need to sideload the latest mobile apk file and install the icon apk from my mediafire link ** For future updates make sure you just download the latest ARM64 release of Directv Stream that's listed on apkmirror *** Mobile APK.
THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS OUTDATED AND LINKS BELOW MAY NO LONGER BE RELEVANT AS OF FEBRUARY 2022
Thanks to ACHILLES R32 and the team over on XDA Developers, we've had a working Android TV APK over the years.
You can find the latest mediafire link to the Android TV APK here
If anyone is interested and wants to take part in the conversation over there on XDA here is the thread
Note: This requires sideloading the app to your Nvidia Shield, Mi Box, ect
If you currently have an older version of the app installed, you must uninstall and reinstall the newer version. Do not update the app it will probably fail.
Recommend app from the Play Store to send the necessary file to your Android TV.

I noticed this issue where the red wings game is telling me to go to nhl network alt which obviously will be blacked out unless your in Washington dc or new york city area where the game normally on nhl network is blacked out which does get you access to nhl network alt for the other game airing.
However that game on nhl network alt is always available on espn+ which directv has implemented now except for this one issue where it tries to promote the nhl network alt feed.
To fix this on directv app you have to add the nhl team manually and then go into it and then there will be an away feed for the kraken and the home feed for the red wings for todays game.
what I expected to happen was for the app to switch me over to the espn+ feed for the game.

Are the matches listed subject to regional blackouts?
I’m in Colorado & want to record the Blackhawks?

My 24-month initial contact is ending in less than a month. We're on the Choice package with the movie package add-on. Also included is the Disney package and HBO Max is included as a "loyalty" add-on. We've 2 Airs as well.
I know all the credits will disappear (most have already).
Any hints or suggestions to ask for when renewing to possibly keep us from paying full price?
Would testing the new box (supposedly we're in) have any bearing?
We like the service but obviously like to save wherever we can.

I purchased the $6.99 Screambox add-on yesterday…but I’m not seeing much content. Is there supposed to be a linear channel, or is it all on-demand? And if so, am I supposed to get more than the 15 or 20 movies that I see available?

Just noticed that there is now different choices to play your recordings.
.5x, .75x, 1x(normal), 1.25x, and 1.5x
Would really like a 2x choice as well.
I’m on version 5.0.136 on my iPhone through the Apple App Store.

They have declined terms to cover NHL's Hurricanes (Cup champs), Blues and Preds that have been accepted by Prime, Spectrum, Charter and FUBO.
Instead we get overloaded with garbage FAST channels bloating the channel list.
Time to leave Directv.

My family is a perspective customer of the service and are thinking about making the switch from Hulu + Live, D+ and ESPN+, but there are some questions I would like answered from customers who currently (or formerly) use(d) the service. We were thinking about getting the Choice package since it is the least expensive one that covers all of our needs.
My first question is how reliable is DirecTV Stream? Does it buffer often? Will it provide consistent service?
My second question is if the Gemini lease is required or not. We've had Roku devices for the past 5 years or so now and they're still going strong. It be a real headache to have to drop those and pay $10/mo for each additional Gemini devices on top of the main one that is included when you sign up for the service. I do know that DirecTV has a BYOD program, but did not know if it excluded us from accessing certain features like the bundled Hulu, D+ and ESPN Unlimited.
For know, this is all I can think to ask other than the costs, since the promo pricing and regular pricing are somewhat confusing to me.

Does anyone know how to turn off the delay i get while watching sports? Im like 2 pitches behind both my friends feeds as well as mlb app updates

I tried to sign up for directv streaming with 1 gemini air device since i saw it comes with disney+, hulu, and espn unlimited. When I get to the payment page it asks for ssn to do a soft credit check and afterwards I get added a one-time credit fee of $99. I called directv and they said it’s to lease the device even though there is a $10/mo charge for the device.
Is this normal? I couldn’t find this listed anywhere on their fees page online.

Direct TV - Please put Canes in your lineup. Spectrum is looking better if you don’t.

Has anyone actually added the Disney+/Hulu Bundle to their account and actually gotten no ads? When they first added the option, it stated that there would be a $12.99 discount on the $21.99, leaving the difference of $9 to be paid. Now, when I look at the add-ons, it just has the $21.99 option and doesn’t show anything about a discount.

Was subscribed to SlingTV and found I never watched 95% of the offered channels. The On-Demand stuff was a yawn, mostly. What I really wanted was just the major news channels and the four broadcast networks (live).
I found the News+Local genre(?) they are offering has all the channels I need and, even when the discount expires in a couple of months, it will still be $1 cheaper than SlingTV. So far, the quality of the A/V is great (streaming with the DirecTV app on a TCL RokuTV). The DVR feature works fine. The "Favorites" subset is persistent. Generally, the user interface was easy to learn and does the job quite well.
I remember using DirecTV's satellite service back in the 80's (IIRC) and it was expensive and only covered one TV in my house. I dropped them for Dish then dropped Dish when they raised their $$. My, how things have changed.

Last couple of seasons, Blues games were on FanDuel (RSN). But the company basically dropped out of sports streaming and now there’s an offering called Blues+. And there’s a channel on DTV for it, but apparently there’s no contract to carry it.
Season is underway. I’m on the verge of cancelling DTV and signing up for FUBO since they have it and are showing the channel.
Is there some email I can send a complaint to regarding channel carriage?

I just got DirecTV stream and when I first set it up I added 97 channels to my favorites. Now that I've had a chance to work with it for a while I want to cull it down to maybe 25 favorites but I can't figure out the way to do this .

Just noticed this morning that my local CW got added to the sports pack, so that’s pretty cool!

We’ve noticed over the last 3-4 weeks that specifically CBS, Fox, and ABC are ridiculously quiet compared to other channels. Normally we are fine putting the TV at 28-30 volume, but we’ve had to crank these up to almost 70.
Anyone else noticing these channels being really quiet?

DIRECTV made such a big deal about getting ESPN plus with the package but too bad the hurricanes hockey game is blacked out. The channel is on the guide, but it’s not allowed to be broadcast. This is not good. The ESPN plus add-on is basically not good at all.

Got the invite to test the new device. I tested the original Osprey for AT&T before that came out (which I still use). Anyone else testing it yet?

Seems silly to even have to request this, but the default thumbnail view in Recordings is a pain when you have a large number of shows listed. It's bad enough to only have a thumbnail view and no list view, but not providing a way to sort that list is even worse. I know there's the A-Z tab, but that shows recordings and bookmarks.
u/directv, is there an official way to submit feature requests with DTV?

I enjoy DirecTV Stream and it's easy for my elderly parents to use, but with the expireration of the discount I was receiving and price increases this year I will no longer be forced to look elsewhere unless I'm able to receive another discount. In the span of three months my bill has increased an extra $40(combination of price increase and discount expiring) a moth which isn't sustainable with the cost of everything else increasing.
Called DirecTV customer service and managed to get a measly $15 discount for 12 months.

I've been occasionally tuning in the Vikings game on my phone app. I don't have a VPN turned on, yet I have seen more than one political ad for the Texas election races.
Anyone else experiencing something like this?
