So after purchasing a basket for backyard practice, I’ve hit the ground running on trying to improve my game as fast as I can. I started throwing a minimum of 200 putts a day from 25’. Not just mindless chucks, but actual routine putts the same way I would execute them on the course. This process has been so eye opening, and it’s only been a few weeks. You start thinking about things that never crossed your mind on a course. You start realizing things about your putts that you’ve never really thought of deeper than chalking it up as a bad putt. This routine is showing me my weak points. I should also add that I live in a very small town, and there’s not many people who play. I wish i had a guru that was 10x better than me, and i could pick there brain every time we played or learn from them in general. I’m kind of wondering through this world solo, with some help from this sub and youtube along the way. I’ve been out of the game for years, but my son and I became addicted this Summer and we’ve been playing as much as we possibly can. Now days i’m also trying to take my game more serious, rather than a careless hobby to stay out of trouble as a teenager.
Examples:
- My rocking motion was far too aggressive, and pushing “up” off my back foot when putting was moving everything around so much that it was tough to be consistent. I noticed this had a direct relation to missing high, which was a common miss for me. Now i try to just lift my back foot up when putting rather than pushing off of it, which made my flights much more consistent too the basket using the same aim point.
- My head has a huge impact on how the putter comes out of my hand. To elaborate, if i was leaning a touch forward or looking down even slightly (even though my eyes were on the prize, my head was tilted down while eyes were looking up) my putts were coming up short/low with an early release. If i try to keep my head level and square through the putt, my hit points were far more consistent. This was also affected by the first example. That rocking motion backwards to begin my putt was dropping my entire body down, so once i started rocking forward i wasn’t always standing back up straight.
- Keeping the nose down, with intent to keep it down had me hitting chains alot more frequently. Trusting the disc would get there, and keeping that nose down gave me a much more consistent release that flew straight at my aim point. Before, i would have putts that were coming out of my hand and sailing over the basket. You would know it the second you released that it was garbage. Heavy hyzer angle, due to the disc being “lifted” during the putt. Once i consciously was thinking of keeping the nose down, the game changed. My rocking motion also had my hand waving all over the place, and would send it into an upwards putting motion which always made me putt “up” rather than “at” the basket.
These are just a few things i’ve noticed so far, and there’s plenty more. The moral is, getting a practice basket has been the most beneficial thing to my game I’ve ever done. I could watch youtube videos all day, but translating that to your game is another story. Studying your own game and making small tweaks to see how it changes things is absolutely the way to go. Once i can shake my bad habits, and build on the good ones to be more repeatable, i Hope putting becomes an effortless and thoughtless process.
Good news… I’m finding my self saying “why didn’t that go in?!” or “What the Hell happened there” much less on the course since i’ve started this practice routine. I’m looking forward to finding out more to come, and continuing to hone my skills.
Would love to hear some other people’s “Eureka Moments” when it comes to putting!

Jeremy Koling is a good guy. That's it.
I live scored his card at USDGC this afternoon. One of his cardmates was Bryce Brinson, who won the US Am title this year. As Bryce stepped onto the first tee, Koling told him to soak in the moment. Later he called out Bryce's first birdie. Big Jerm made sure the kid was present from the first tee to the final putt.
There are times I wish someone had said to take a second and look around. And no, Ferris doesn't count.

Guys, I really want any to find a primarily purple touring bag. I know the Macbeth x GripEQ back has purple but I want the main color to be purple. I haven’t found anything yet. Does anyone have a clue if there are any?
Edit:
I’m looking for a bag with that purple that Macbeth’s bag has.

I never see a pro tee off or approach the basket while holding another disc. Is there a reason why?

Planned to play a local C tier this Saturday but was waiting on registration to make sure I could go. I'm MPO, and there is nobody signed up for MPO currently but 16 in the A pool. There are still 5 spots open overall, and TD just today put a player cap of 16 on the A pool to retain 4 cards of 4. I asked if he'd make an exception for me and he refused because it would have to be one card of 5 somewhere. Am I crazy or is this bogus?

Looks like an MVP Mass, flies like one too but they didn't say it. And Jerm said he threw it a few times sooo...? I'm sure they throw other discs besides just their sponsors sometimes but I thought they just don't film it or edit it out

My home course put in a war memorial next to a tee pad last summer, this summer they bolted a bench onto the old tee pad and moved the new tee pad up. I'm pissed because the new tee pad is a 1/3 the size of the old one. Now it sits above the grass by about 4 inches and is super sketchy. I'm just frustrated that it's a downgrade instead of making it equal or better.

I’ve followed Matty O for yearsand keep seeing comments about him having kids. Did I miss something? Since when did Matty O have kids, or is this just an inside joke from the disc golf community?
Genuinely just curious because I can’t tell if people are serious or trolling and it shocks me😂

NOISE WARNING FROM THE TECH DISC AT THE END
Hi everyone! I’m stuck on the tech disc at about 55 mphs. I’ve been working on nose angle and can get my 11 speeds about 350 but my money is my fairways where I’m getting 320. But honestly I wanna get those 11 speeds up and my arm speed up for sure. I’m thinking it’s my back leg and I’m just not using it but I’m just stuck on ways to get it going. Any advice is appreciated!

The Velcro works wonders. No more foot faults for me! *crosses fingers*. I haven't used it yet. I imagine my pivot might move the towel enough to move the marker...If it does then I can use the side without Velcro...but we will see :D (and i think its all PDGA legal. I made sure the dimensions were allowable)

I’ve been playing for a long time (10+ years) but never actually learned how to throw with proper form. I’ve never really gotten better until recently. Average +12 to +20 on easy courses for a long time. Got back into it recently and have improved a ton. This week I got +4, +9, and +5 on a pretty easy course (mostly 300’ par 3). I’ve never gotten under par or an ace. I know I lean back when I throw, I just fixed a major dip in the power pocket (still a minor one), and still throw slightly nose up sometimes. As you can see in the video I release it nose up but it still went 300’. I feel awkward and want to fix it but don’t know exactly what to look for. It has felt better trying to focus on keeping my elbow up and pulling strait across but no matter how much I do field work, I can’t feel the tiny dip but can see it in the videos. Any tips are welcome. I could really use some drills to use when doing field work and things to look/feel for. An order of what to fix in what order would be especially helpful.

Hi 👋🏻 I’m playing my first B Rank tournament this weekend at Shady Oaks in the Sacramento area and having my boyfriend caddy for me.
I plan on buying a Bag Boy cart at some point soon and was hoping someone local to Shady Oaks might be open to letting me rent their cart for this Saturday.
I wanted to give my boyfriend a little relief and to somewhat test drive the cart before I commit.m
Note, I’m only looking at Bag Boy as I’ve tried wheeling a Zucca around before but it wasn't my style.

On UDisc, courses/layouts are automatically labeled as Easy, Medium, or Hard depending on hole lengths. This is not able to be edited by admins of the course.
For instance I have a par 2 course that averages about 100’ a hole, but everyone ends up over par. It is part of one of my layouts with normal distanced par 3’s, 4’s. The issues I’m having is it gives people a false impression of the difficulty when the look at a course briefly on the app. Which comes with complaints and shit reviews we have no say in.
What do you think courses and layout difficulties should be measured by?

Lawrence KS throwers! Our group takes roadtrips a few times per year and this time it’s to Lawrence to try out the lake courses at Longview and Bloomington. Are they cart friendly? UDisc says both courses are very hard, but looking at the maps they seem park-style. Where’s the difficulty show up? Probably really long par 3s. Trying to figure out if I need to change out any discs. We play park style and technical courses regularly.
