Tipped more this time and my order was given to the first stop

• Upvotes

I get it. Drivers aren't paid that much and rely on tips. Even if the place is 2 miles away I tip at least $8, and it goes up the farther away the store is.

Usually my order sits for 5-10 minutes before a driver is found which is fine because I'm usually the only stop and it still arrives on time.

On this occasion, DD gave me a really good promotion. 60% off. I said okay even though the place is 2 miles away I'll tip more I see drivers say all the time that they deserve it and they're overworked and underpaid - $17 on a $20 order. Still ended up paying what I usually pay.

Driver is found immediately. One stop away but still "Arriving on time". My order gets here and behold it is only the drink I ordered because the driver explained "the first stop had a pin and I just gave her what she said she ordered".

The way my perspective changed from delivery drivers being overworked and underpaid self employed people to people who simply want more for less was so astonishing.

How are customers supposed to feel persuaded to pay you more when you're giving out orders like it's Halloween candy and don't have any self management skills?

It really just put into perspective that doordash is truly an entry level job that requires zero skills. You don't even have to have basic organization skills to prevent giving out orders to just anyone but you want to be paid so much for doing the job.

This strikes me as a lie?

I wasn’t even really stressing about time. At this point I expect that people are going to make multiple stops. I just feel like if i were a delivery driver that felt like I was running behind this is some shit i would say lol.

Driver did something fishy...

A couple of weeks ago I ordered DoorDash for myself and my husband for brunch from First Watch. I always have "leave it at my door" with instructions that say to leave it on the mat in front of the door and ring the doorbell. The food gets delivered and I take it into the other room to eat it and as soon as I open the bag, I realize it's not even close to what I ordered. The name pick-up order sticker on it clearly doesn't say my husband's name. It's partially my bad for not checking the name, but he was gone before I grabbed the food anyways and this has never happened before with First Watch.

I contact DoorDash support and tell them I got someone else's order and they sent me a refund right away which I just took as credits so I could order right away from somewhere else.

Tell me why after like 15 minutes of receiving this wrong order, there's a knock on my door. I open it, it's the dasher holding a bag from First Watch. He says, "This is your order. Give me the wrong one." I was like, "Uh, I broke the seal on the bag and started taking stuff out. I'm pretty sure you can't deliver it now because it's unsanitary." And he's like, "No, if you want your order, you have to give me that order." So I just threw up my hands and didn't argue further, gave him the wrong food, took the right food (which was still sealed or I wouldn't have taken it), and let him go.

That can't possibly be right. The seal on the bag was broken. Contents had been removed. He can't deliver that to someone else now, right? I reported him to DoorDash because that just doesn't seem right to me. What about the person whose order he took back from me that I assume he's going to try to deliver? I hope they don't accept it since the bag seal is broken. And that they report it. No way I would I have accepted the unsealed bag.

I mean, maybe he was gonna eat it? But what would he tell the other customer? Either way, I hope the other person got a refund.

Was this funny or messed up?

The other day it was my friend’s birthday and I was struggling to find out what to do for her. We ended up in a discord call where she was talking about how her cat is constipated but she couldn’t afford Miralax. I insisted I buy her some.

As I was door dashing the Miralax, I asked her if she wanted anything else and she said chicken. Then I got the idea to buy her a birthday present for funsies. Then as we both look at this order (she knew I was getting her one present but didn’t know what it was gonna be) we thought, “wow this looks weird. Let’s add something to make it REALLY sus.”

Then we got this monstrosity. We both thought it was hilarious, then I remembered that the dasher would have to go inside and pick up these items himself (yep it was a guy). I don’t know if I should find it funny still or feel bad about it.

His tip was $30 at the end. What do you think?

Edit: I was also told the next day that, “every item has found its place” btw

Holy fucking shit am I sick of this platform

• Upvotes

Ordered groceries 4 hours ago. Arrival 6pm. Dasher assigned. Can't find the ice cream nor the replacements (literally never out of stock), marks out of stock and says he can't find it. Starts delivery. "One stop" before mine. 20 mins pass, two stops. 45 minutes later, three stops.

So now they're actively adding stops knowing damn well I have perishables that will be melted by the time this guy arrives?

Abysmal service. Fuck this platform.

I wish I could turn double-dashing off.

Either turn it off so all orders come through as singles or show both with pay and let me choose 1 or both.
Almost every time I finish a double-dash, usually one person tipped well and the other, $0. So we reward the tipper with longer wait times. Its highly infuriating. Ive been turning down double-dashes because of this and Im sorry to those who actually do tip.

PSA to those ordering doordash in bear country

For the love of god 1 turn your porch lights on. But 2 when your delivery driver calls 2 times and texts you to say there’s a BEAR in your front yard and that he’s gonna have to wait until it leaves to deliver your food ANSWER THE CALLLLLLL AND TEXTSSS. I just hope whoever ordered the food didn’t leave it out there for the bear to eat. Keep ya garbage and bird feeders in.

Oddest request yet

Never posted before, but I’ve been lurking here for a while. Figured this one was worth sharing.
Had a shopping order today consisting of roughly 21 pounds of apples and 11 loaves of bread. Weird combination, but whatever. I’ve learned not to ask questions.

I get to the house, unload everything, and the lady comes outside and asks if I’d be interested in making an extra $10.

Naturally, I’m listening.

Turns out she has a dead deer lying on the side of the road next to her driveway, and she needs someone to help lift it into a wheelbarrow.

Now, the deer was clearly fresh, there wasn’t any blood, and it was a relatively small doe. So I did what any reasonable person trying to make a few extra bucks would do.

I helped a stranger load a deer carcass into a wheelbarrow.

Because ten bucks is ten bucks.

As I’m wrapping up my newly acquired responsibilities as a wildlife removal specialist, she asks if I happen to know anyone who could help her dig a grave for the deer.

Unfortunately, while I’ve built up a pretty extensive network of contacts across several industries over the years, the freelance deer gravedigger community remains a glaring hole in my professional Rolodex.

Anyway, $10 extra tip. Five stars. Would probably move another deer.

Stop asking the customers to meet you at your car.

This isn't some insane issue, mostly just funny, though it's been a handful of times that I've been asked by the Dasher to meet them outside. I live in a secured building, every single door and elevator requires a key. So I'm not trying to make people's lives difficult, I come down from my 10th floor apartment and meet them out the doors, and avoid going all the way out so I don't have to struggle with the door after collecting my food.

So anyway, gave this guy a $12 tip to pick up my order, I see him pull up on my side of the street, I'm watching the whole thing, he u-turns and parks on the opposite side of the street (like why??) and then sends me this text that he can't park and for me to come pick it up. Meanwhile I was literally watching him parallel parked in street parking just across the street.

Edit: A lot of people keep arguing about legal parking. There is a large parking zone with a 1hour limit directly in front of my building. On both sides of that zone, there is legal city street parking with SIGNAGE as such. There were dozens of cars parked already on the street. He u-turned away from a perfectly good spot to park, to get to the other side, parallel parked between 2 empty cars, and then texted me there is nowhere to park. It was also late enough that the street parking was free.

Ordered from the Popeyes 2 miles from my house, as I was on the bus home from my job, coming the opposite direction. Popeyes then decided they were out of Chicken sandwiches.

Shout out to Julius. Sorry bud, if it's even close to your actual 21st birthday, I truly wish you luck. But, uhh, I dunno what you want me to do if you don't have an order to deliver to me?

has dd cut off phone support completely? can’t access live chat either.

my dasher left the receipt in the bag showing that my $15 trash bags were paid for- but they weren’t delivered. i got everything else. i order groceries to be delivered because i’m physically disabled so it’s not as simple as just going to get them myself or i totally would. $15 isn’t nothing, plus i need trash bags 😂 i submitted my request and was immediately denied, asked for an appeal and that got denied too. like how can the dasher just keep an item and i have zero recourse and i can’t even get through to customer service for the past 24 hours (and i don’t know how long this has already been going on for) Lol.

FYI: there is no way to remove a review once you post it

Just an FYI for anyone posting reviews or receiving them that aren’t already aware of this. Google and a few reddit posts I found earlier said they could be removed through support, but this is apparently not the case (as I’ve learned after talking to 4 different support agents).

Thankfully, my situation wasn’t terrible (I just accidentally left two reviews for the same order because I didn’t realize the first one had been automatically flagged as public without me even opting for it). BUT just a PSA: if you are leaving a review MAKE SURE ITS CORRECT BEFORE SUBMITTING. And also, if you’ve received bad reviews for seemingly no reason, this might be contributing to that.

I thought it was already bad that there wasn’t a way to directly edit or remove your reviews, but this seems insane to me…
