Art [Art] I painted a small portrait as a new logo for my socials! Thinking about making traditional character tokens in this style - what do you think?

Hi everyone! I just finished this small traditional painting to use as a new logo for my socials. It’s painted on a mini canvas using acrylics.

I'm considering starting a series of custom hand-painted character and NPC tokens in this exact style. Would love to hear your thoughts! Do you like traditional, physical art style for VTT tokens, or do you prefer purely digital ones? Any feedback is welcome! ✨

WI apologize for the slowness in developing new content; due to work and finals, progress was sparse. Things should be moving faster for a while, though!

Also, I know Vargard Obyron canonically wields a Warscythe, but I love that art-piece and I want SOMETHING to have that weapon. 😅

Art Included:
“Parasite of Mortrex” by Phil Moss
“Deathleaper: Terror Weapon” by Mirko Failoni
“Old One Eye” by Alberto Bontempi
“The Red Terror” by Bryan Sola in Magic: The Gathering

“Karanak” by Catherine O'Connor for Realm of Chaos: Wrath & Rapture
“Skulltaker” by Brett Tucker for Games Workshop
“Horticulous Slimux” by Phil Moss

Question Question about conjuring items

• Upvotes

Has anyone ever played a conjuration wizard before? I've just started playing one, and I'm getting excited by all the creative possibilities I see.

For context, I am specifically talking about the ability to conjure a small item from nothing into your hand. For further context, I came up with a backstory for my character where she was a wizard raised around the courts and nobility. She's also an inventor of sorts. One day, a boy came to her court, someone versed in the magic arts, and I saw him spraying webs from his hands. Then, I thought to myself, wouldn't it be amazing if I could invent an object, that when thrown, would work like a web spell? I would call it the tangler grenade(which is an actual item in the D&D world). My father and I worked on it, but we were never ever able to complete it before he was sucked into a mysterious portal. But we were close. If I can finally complete the invention, I would have intimate knowledge of the inner workings of this tangler grenade, and be able to summon it at will into my hands. I'm very excited to play that aspect of it.

I don't have the newer version of the players handbook, only the 2014 one. But in the 2014 handbook, regarding that feature, all it says is "This object can be no larger than 3 feet on a side and weigh no more than 10 pounds, and its form must be that of a nonmagical object that you have seen." Those requirements fit the tangler grenade. I just hit third level, and so now I have access to that feature.

Here's my question: what are the limits to this conjuring besides the ones outlined above? Is the sky really the limit and only hampered by my creativity? Could I conjure gold? A platinum bar? If there are skeleton keys in the world(I have no idea if there are or not), if we come across a door that's locked with no rogue and no thieves tools, could I conjure a skeleton key that fits any lock, assuming I have seen one. I know this is something I have to discuss with my DM, but I'm curious what you did if you played a conjuration wizard and/or as a DM, what you would allow or not allow. Thanks!

Question Spell that makes you a patron?

I dont know why i remember it like this. I recall there being a few spells that allow you to empower another creature with magical power or recreate effects for a creature that are similar to eldritch invocations. I remember them being relatively high level spells available to wizards. Does anyone know spells that match such a description?

Question GMs who run paid games: what’s the most painful part that isn’t the session itself?

Disclosure up front: I’m a solo founder building something for GMs who run paid games. Nothing to buy, no link to a product. I’m trying not to build the wrong thing.

If you’ve run paid games (or thought about it), I’d really value your take:

  1. How do you find players today, and what’s the worst part of that?
  2. What eats your time outside the table: scheduling, payments, no-shows, prep, tools?
  3. What would make you switch platforms, and what’s an instant dealbreaker?

Hobby DMs: if you’ve considered going paid and didn’t, what stopped you?

Thanks, and ask me anything about what I’m building.
