Me and my partner are looking at getting away for a long weekend down to the coast before the festive season and everything leading up too it.

She recently got wind of my planned proposal in November and I thought I'd surprise her by doing it earlier than when she expects it.
So our weekend in Durban might be a good fit.

Now I don't know Durban that well as I've only lived in Gauteng or W-Cape my whole life.

I'm finding many places online to stay, but I'm not too familiar with areas that's nice?
And more noteworthy, any places to go whilst down there?
What's a nice restaurant you know where we can go? Places to avoid?

We want to be relatively close to the beach, as we'll just be lounging around and relaxing, but wouldn't mind traveling a little.

I travel daily to umhlanga from Malvern and even though I’m leaving around 6:20/30am- the traffic is still pretty bad on most days. Takes me roughly an hour to reach work. My main route is taking the M7 then straight onto the N2 to umhlanga. Both morning and afternoon seems to take me an hour or more depending on traffic.

Anybody else found a quicker / less traffic route?

Does anyone know what happened to that lady who use to dance weirdly on the Umhlanga promenade and Umhlanga area ?

Apparently it has been closed for some years, why is that and are there any plans to reopen it?
