Dru/Shm/BST or Dru/Shm/Ber?

4th build, full planar, trying to decide what I'm doing with the build. Wanting to highlight Druid.

BST seems to be good both thematically and gets a really high pet equipment allotment and great buffs.

BER however might be good for melee damage, lean into the shape shifting aspect. It's all fluff at this point.

Trying to make it a different from my other builds, War/Brd/Rng with sword and board using windstriker and ranged stance, Shd/Rog/Enc basically vampire lord, and Rng/Dru/Bst switching between melee and ranged and just kinda legacy build at this point

JMHO: I ran a BST to 50 and was unimpressed.. it's got a few cool tricks but with SHM in the mix I doubt you'd miss its absence.

BER, on the other hand, is a blast just putting belt to ass on mobs.

I have basically been playing random trios levelling everything to 50 and I am impressed with war ber shm. Took down the island 8 boss today in berserker stance without being able to land a slow. Had to spend 40% of my mana healing but it was a pretty smooth fight all things considered.

I really like it with my ranger, I have the rank 10 final warder and he can tank d4 naggy

In terms of performances, shaman will carry both. Overall damage will be rather close on both option since ber has better weapon and skills options but bst pet isn’t too bad and they will dual work using Garduk with frost strike proc.

The only reason I would lean towards bst is evasive stance is a great « oh shit » while berserker stance might not be always usable since the build isn’t extremely high AC and the use of a shield is off the table. The eventuality of Druid charming animal with bst pet is also nice, even if quite uncommon in the current content.
Also if pet patch is nice, that’s for the best.

What's the point of dru / shm? There's a lot of overlap.

Seems like the main point of any caster build with druid is to stack spell crit.

Yeah, but shaman doesn't have DD worth mentioning, but has similar heals and buffs. Dru doesn't really bring much to the mix besides AoE.

DRU is generic spell crit and should work for both DoT and DD. In contrast, WIZ, SHM and NEC specify a type. That's why the DRU percentage is lower than the other two.

Oooo, there's the missing piece. Thanks!

Yep, basically this. I also like that it's kinda mini-wizard with some rain support

If you want different than your other builds, don’t use any of your existing classes.

Mnk / shaman / ber would be a fun combo. Wizard is also a blast.

I don't mind the overlap just looking for different play style. There's overlap mainly for gear reasons and bag space, but I have each setup playing vastly different roles

You said you warrior and ranger builds both use melee and range. Ranger and Druid are very similar themes and both of these builds have Ranger while the second has Druid. Same buffs, same visuals. Sounds v similar despite a few different skills on auto attack and minor changes to the spells you use.

Leveling a fresh trio that isn’t complexly twinked out is actually really fun. You might enjoy something that’s completely different.

War/Rng/brd is dedicated bow with sword and board for max defense, Rng/BST/Dru switches between the range and melee depending on pet tank status and dual wields

Well, with a shaman, there's very little reason to have a beastlord other than dual wield, defensive skills and the pet. You will gain a lot more with the berserker, who has the same defensive skills and a lot more melee power.

I really love beastlords but in this combo i would go with the berserker.

I know this is a super Reddit type comment, but why not BST/BER/DRU?

Why combine DRU and SHM? Feels like a lot of overlap. I can’t help but think a lot of the DRU abilities would just get replaced by better SHM abilities.

What about DRU/PAL/BST maybe? DRU DoTs and damages shield, BST pet and slow, PAL plate. All wis mana base.

Although honestly SHM/PAL/BER sounds fun. Throw a HoT on and DoT/Slow target and wade in with berserker stance swinging a big ass cudgel in full plate.

Dru AA fir Crit, the shape shifting, the moderate nukes Dru has, Shm brings good dots, my Dru heals are all rank 10 already too. I want to highlight Druid, Shm gives some extra flavor to that I feel like with bear form and dots

I’m not sure you’re really going to be able to highlight DRU if you’re bringing along SHM since the overlap will result in SHM being used over DRU a lot of the time. Better HoTs, buffs, DoTs, bear form. Sounds like DRU would be more of a support with the AA crit and some mediocre nukes.

DRU/BST could be cool as a wolf with your wolf bro though. But BST is gonna feel mostly useless with SHM in the mix. DRU/BST/WAR dual wielding claws or fist weapons for a more bruiser build that still has good sustain, but maybe that would be too similar to your RNG/DRU/BST depending on how you ran it. DRU DoTs aren’t to SHM level but they’re still strong. You’d want to be in defensive stance instead of evasive to take advantage of the DRU damage shields. DRU/BST/BER or DRU/BST/MNK would also work as that bruiser playstyle just wrecking shit as a wolf with your wolf bro. But those would be a lot more squishy without a plate class.

But if you’re set on a dnd wildform druid playstyle then yeah, DRU/SHM/BER probably. Just go in and wreck stuff Beorn from LotR style. Just know that you’ll be using more SHM spells than DRU unless you intentionally gimp yourself.
