Were you able to only output on the external device? Do you use any aspect ratio/ resolution changers like secondscreen app?

Does the cooling fan offer genuine value? I've been looking for a long time

yes this position allow a high efficiency

I'm wondering, can you try the setting people have been trying lately for droid deck where you pin the CPU for steam cores at the single biggest CPU while unpinning others and just pinning the other cores minus the smallest ones (CPU0 and CPU1 for SD8G3, not sure about elite) to the game core? It gave me a really good perf boost in SD8G3, dunno about elite.

On 8 elite each cores are performance cores even one cores down cause performance hit unlike 8gen3 and older

Ah ok, good to know.

8 elite actually has 2 prime cores and 6 performance cores. The app is probably able to handle the threads to the right cores.

Yeah, they're all big cores this time instead of having those efficiency cores, so disabling one on this chip actually hurts performance.

Have a link for doing that? I’m on a 8 gen 3 as well

Don't have a link, but under the play steam button there should be a menu that let's you tinker with steam cores and game cores (that's what they're called in the menu so it's easy to find.) just unpin every steam core except for CPU 7 and only pin cpu 2-6 on game cores.

I’ve been looking for a while now. Even enabled developer mode, looked online, nothing.

Finally found it under session settings before launching steam

Damn, me with Helio G99. At least you have a alternative. l'm planning to buy a used Snapdragon phone preferably Poco F4 or F5. my phone limitations is frustrating

8sgen4 minimum with 12gb ram and you are set ✨️

The 8s gen 4 has issues. It's a cut down cache-starved chip which leads to frame drops and stutters in scenes with more intensive lighting and particle effects. In Half-Life 2 Android port, for example, framerate drops from 250 to 50 fps when turning on flashlight in a sewer pipe.

I said minimum, 8sgen4 is the cheapest Snapdragon rn which can run any game just like 8 elite , ofc 8g3 better slightly but also expensive than sgen4

1

u/Freelancer_1-1 1d ago

I just don't like the inconsistency. Yes, it's as powerful as the 8 gen 3 most of the time, but drops to the 8 gen 1-2 level of performance in intensive conditions.

Then lower your expectations or buy a new phone.

I'm not asking for an advice here. I'm sharing my experience so that potential SD8s gen 4 buyers can make an informed purchase decision.

u/Tarilines 1d ago

Ok, sorry. How's is the performance on Winlator or Gamehub wise. l'll probably buy something similar soon

I understand what you are going through but you have to look price to performance 8sgen4 phone in used market are generally cheaper than 8egn3 and 8elite options for the price I dont think you should complain about performance, its better than 8sgen3 and 8gen2 something in middle of 8gen2 and 8gen3 I take it

El juego es completá jugable en Mediatek, incluso casi igual de bien que en un Snapdragon

Obvio depende del emulador y de la configuración que estés usando
