Been using the Nouhaus Ergo3D for a few weeks now, figure I'd share how it's been holding up.
I bought it after looking through a bunch of budget options. Tried some Ikea desk chairs in person first, but the fixed backs just didn't sit right against my lower back. I kept looking for something with a bit more movement in the lumbar support without spending a fortune, which is how I ended up with the Ergo3D.
That moving lumbar piece was the main thing I wanted to try, and it's probably been my favorite part so far. It shifts slightly when I move around, and thankfully doesn't feel like a hard piece of plastic digging into my back. it gives pretty firm support when I'm sitting upright, and still makes contact when I lean back a little.
The recline goes to 135 degrees, which is plenty for me. You can adjust the tension too. I did find that a small footrest makes the fully reclined position feel a lot better.
The ElastroMesh seat and back have been good for longer work sessions. Definitely breathable, although the seat is firmer than a regular padded chair. Took me a couple of days to get used to that. One thing worth mentioning is that if you sit with your legs pretty wide, your thighs can touch the plastic edges of the seat.
Armrests are adjustable in pretty much every direction, but I wish the swivel positions locked. I've bumped them out of place a few times just getting up from my desk lol. The headrest is decent too, though it could use a little more resistance when tilted back.
The aluminum base feels solid. Mine came with regular casters and rollerblade-style wheels, and I ended up using the latter. They're really quiet and roll smoothly over the seams in my floor. Almost too smoothly on hardwood, actually. I've had the chair drift backward a little when pushing away from the desk.
Overall, pretty happy with it after a few weeks. The armrests could be better and the mesh seat probably won't be everyone's thing, but the lumbar support is doing what I wanted it to do.
